Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
Well Pollyanna was in the Independent (no not the free one on a tuesday)
The best clothes shops in Barnsley are 20/20 Jujo and Richies although we could do with some more designer shops e.g Morgan Miss Sixty that would be great and Jane Morgan. All the shops sell the same and everyone wears the same what a drag.. althoughg jujo and 20/20 do usually only do one of each..
Serious drought of good clothes shops in Barnsley. Lets see a H&M manifest please!
TK MAXX
MY FAVE IS NEW LOOK ALLWAYS GOT SPECIAL OFFERS ON GR8
i personally think new look is getting bak in with the trend
bee is the best shop in tarn situated in the la corum and sells the best gear in viv westwood
Top notch stuff can be got from all the charity shops in town, if you want to look like one of 'the strokes' or pimp it up 'Snoop Dogg' Style you can get all you want for about £3 per item of clothing.
Frank Brids - always a winner! (for the credit card compnaies at least!)
Barnsly is the dogs nuts for alternative fashion shopping. CHARITY SHOPS KICK ASS! we have more than any other town and if you want to look like one of 'the strokes' you can for about £10! you can also go for the pimp gangster look and pick up a suit and haiwaian shirt for the same- toni montana eat your hart out!
jujo, fords is really good for womens paul frank stuff, frank birds sells designer mens gear and monkey does both men and women.
ken ellis
the pentangle shefield road
Not many big name shops, just Topshop & Newlook but theres a few decent boutique style shops like JuJo & Monkey.
i would just like to say that the comment about select and Q-dos being the worst womens clothes shops isn't a fair comment, i admitt, it isn't the easiest place to find stuff but it is a good place with nice staff, i understand it was your opinion but dont slate them infront of loads of people, it doesnt seem that fair. I think your site is good other than that though.
qudos what a mint shop cheap stylish clothes
Topshop and the Jujo stall are the only decent places in Barnsley to shop for womens clothes. Select and Qudos have got to be the worst!
Topshops or8!!!
bon marche, littlewoods, primark, marks and spencer......plenty for elderly women, not much if you actually care about fashion!
Not enough to list. Where's Oasis? Morgan? Warehouse and Jane Norman when you need them..........Sheffield!!
Unless your a female between 13-60 theres no were
Coupl abart tarn but nowt worth mentioning
theres only 1 shop av gora problem wi n its tammy, its soooo expencive and there arnt evevn any decent clothes!!
most of them are ok but tammy sucks ass... it is for immature kids and half of the clothes are size 18+
Take your pick.
Mens - Frank Birds, Pricey though. Not much for women really.
quite good around here. River Island, TopShop, Next, Dorothy Perkins, Select, New Look u name it we've got it!
Never used to be anywhere really until Monkey opened up
Frank Bird, Mr Wayne and Boardwalk for your expensive stuff -labels.
Pollyanna is one of the best designer shops in the north. It can be bloody expensive, but has good stuff sometimes. Check the MUJI gear! Boardwalk would love to be Pollyanna but isn't. It sells crap designer clothes at hugely over inflated prices. There is a women's designer clothes shop, but I can remember what it's called. Mr. Wayne v.occasionally has some alright stuff, but normally just townie gear. Plus all the usual suspects - Top Man, Top Shop, Fosters blah blah blah they all sell the same clothes etc etc.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Used to be one up near the Church (on Church St, natch) going towards the college, but I don't know it's name.... very upmarket though.
medahall
I suspect there may be one somewhere but they don't advertise
Ashley Jackson's, Church Street - expensive and small
The Cooper Art Gallery, Church Street - some nice temporary art and craft exhibitions and sales of locally produced arts and crafts
COOPER GALLERIES
The design centre next to the public libary_ i went in and they had an exhibition based on the PS2 game Grand Theft Auto- Vice City, -nice! Also the Cooper art Gallery near the Town Hall
The Cooper gallery has a really nice cafe so its worth looking at the art just for that!
COoper art gallery
Poundland - where Barnsley FC players are bought and sold. It's self-explanatory.

there int none in tarn!!!
The only things which pass for art in this town are the smashed up bus shelters.
there arnt any, barnsley might not be posh like all the other fancy tarns but al tel ya sumat na, we no how 2 av a gud time!!
us from barnsley don't take an intrest in owt like that we're onley intrested in enjoyin ourselves am sorry but arts and crafts don't fall into that catergory.
Are you kidding? Most Barnsley people don't know what art is. If you can't fight it, shag it, drink it or spend it they don't wanna know.
Cooper Gallery (Don't know if its closed or if its being refurbished - anyway I passed it the other day and it had a loada 'stuff; outside)
Loads scattered around and they even have their own little stalls on the market.
The Cooper Gallery for art. (not that I go there). West Bretton sculpture park is right on the border of Barnsley, good for a walk! Oh, the Lamproom Theatre is cracking for entertainment, I saw Peter Kay there recently and the plays are very good too. Euan.
Try Hotch-potch for unusual gifts and crafts, it is also great for nose-studs at very reasonable prices.
The Cooper Gallery. V. occasionally has good exhibition, but normally not worth bothering with.
Magazine and Comic Shops
WH Smiths and raven
The biggest comics you can find in this town are the local people, and the state of them.
WHSmith, GT News
WHS!!!!
i get my fortnight magazine (more!) from my local newsagents so wot is the point in avin a shop completely devoted 2 magazines?
Day nite hoyland sells top mags you name it they sell it... it's a decent shop.
GT News at the bottom (or top) of Church Street. Good for fags.
Town centre has it all
WHSmiths was ace for nicking your weekly Kerrang magazine. Orb.
There's a decent comic 'stall' in the 2nd hand market on a Tuesday, across from the old River Island shop.
