The Kebab house has gone down hill since they fixed the counter to the floor and put up barriers to prevent you from nicking the canned drinks on a Saturday night but at least the Fruiters still work.
China Capital, Frome Field - hasn't been there long but food is great and really clean. Also the chipie up on Stonebridge - good tucker.
White Hart at Truduxhill - large portions, nice food and good prices!
The lebanese restaurant was always my favourite
Bengal Spice - Nice Curry
China Capital - Nice Veggie Stuff to - (Chinese food)
Codswallop on Forest Road do all kinds of stuff. Badger-burger soon available

Pubs
uuumm the ship, the vine tree um the globe all i no rele dnt go there often!!
Hooray.....The Ship has gone. Now the local scagghead's odours can be caught from the bench along the river in town. The Olive Tree lives in its place now which I must say is a v.pleasant place 4 a drink (or food). But can something pls be done with The Crown, it really does look a blimmin' state.
The Sun
The Griffin
Avoid the rest they either smell or are full of townies fighting in bad taste clothes
WHAT THE F*£~ HAPPENED TO THE CROWN
Well....The 'Wheater' in town has just had its licence extended till 1.30am at weekends, and also has a cool upstairs bar which is a good place to chill out. Theres also a DJ up there on Friday nights. Not a bad place and a good enough reason to avoid Guuuuuiiinieeees!
Spanner needs to tighten the screws in his head as he must have two loose to let Fordey have the Crown, look at the mess he made of the Weaver. Thank goodness for Mandy and Kev!!!! As they have stopped it from being run down, maybe they should have the Crown too!!! LONG LIVE KEYFORD.The most deprived area of the UK (Apparently, in the last year)
for a homeley welcome from everyones 'Mother' come to The Lamb & Fountain, Castle Street. The Ritz it's not but the welcome is huge.
Popular Frome pub rundown - The Ship at Badcox, cheese and mutton dressed as lamb.
The Sun on Catherine Hill, friendly faces and nice atmosphere.
Wheatshieves Inn, good sociable pub but attracts riff raff, over crouding and long serving times.
The George, fast service and new classy makeover, but won't suit all.
Angel, lots of trever'snd lorretta's in one place but cheap prices which counts for alot.
Vine Tree, Frome trouble makers and poor furnishings.
The Griffin, good if you like home made brew, always full of locals.
And all the other pubs are neither here nor there so I've not mentioned them. Left for you to decide.
The george in the market place has recently been rejuvinated from its former self and is now one of the posher places in town, serves good rangle of drinkies for us too!!...and if you have to sample them all there is always the george hotel, ie upstairs to lie down!!
Shame the crown closed. Why is there no atmosphere in the wheatsheaf since they put lights in there and bouncers on the door. The druggies who sat in the corners are also gone. whats that all about
Wheatsheaves-mixed townie Kareokee types, trendy girls and boys, this is an old Metal head haunt some can still be seen there on occasions, winding up the townies, he he he.
The Griffin - Ral Ale no snobs, good people, quite drink no hassle, some live music, fair prices.
The Sun - Very good Tania And Alan are very nice people (the owners)
Why hasn't anyone mentioned The Weaver?! There's something going on most week nights, darts, cribb, pool, it's got two fantastic football teams, The Weaver first team and Weaver Plate, quiz and racing nights are held on a regular basis and there's live music most weekends, with acts like Malarky and DC pulling in the crowds. They also serve one of the best pints of Guinness in Frome, and always houses the best Bank holiday super Sunday sessions not, complete unless there's a bar - b - q and skittles of course.
You forgot to mention the Beehive and is it true it is now shut.
the crown at keyford, run by gargoils see how many times fordy's(the manager)teeth drop down when he is serving you,and dont let him start telling you how he lost his place to BERTIE im still young ALLEN, AT FROME TOWN back in the 70's,he will start crying, then he will call for his brother STEVE (i kicked the corner flag) FORD to back his story.
The Wheatsheaf were the first pub to put pints over two quid. Therefore don't go there. The 3 Swans is much neglected
The Crown and Sceptre in the Trinity area is good, if only for the stares you get when you go in. They WILL hate you
the vine tree no longer serves food all day. food is avalible
12-00 to 14-45 and 18-00 to 21-30 mondays to fridays
12-00 to 21-30 sat
12-00 to 21-00 sun

the vine tree has been run by new managers since october 2000, the 'knackered seating has been replaced (about time too) the toilets have not been out of order since myself and ali have been here. we haven't changed much a guest ale is now on tap and trade is booming we've even got decent heating in the winter
THE SUN!!..Tucked away on Catherine Street, the place to be for cheep pool, good juke box and Saturday Sport on V.Big Television! Local D.J's and top bands such as Far-Cue may be spotted playing the night away (and if not they will be at the bar!)...Pop in and say hello to Alan and Tanya who are ready to serve you a cool one...and possible discuss the golfing season.... Jenn
Blue Boar for the connoissoir of the male form. Travellers to the Angel or the Beehive please.
not the middle town pubs unless you want a scrap but some of the others are nice if you except them .
the older pubs may be rough the customers are nice and except you and you are always treated as a person rather that an outsider worth a try
Wetshaft at Bath street, however they're tryin' to attract the more respectable clientele - we know it's the crusty pit though - Best Kronenbourg & Stella for miles!
The Griffin - well worth the trek up the hill it serves crackin' Ales!
The Vine Tree has really gone to pot in recent years - prices are amongst the highest in town for a bland range of drinks, the furniture is knackered, and the toilets are regularly out of order (including on Christmas Eve, 1999). But we still love it...
THE FARMERS ARMS - OUT PAST INNOX HILL. THE BEST PUB FOOD IN TOWN.
A COUPLE OF QUID MORE THAN AVERAGE, BUT WORTH EVERY PENNY. THEY KEEP A GREAT
PINT OF REAL ALE TOO!
The Angel - nice atmosphere, student crowd esp. at weekends. Good place to start off the night. The Loft (above the Wheatsheaf) - small but nice atmosphere. A distinct smell of hash most nights.
Blue Boar, Market Place The George, Market Place Wheatsheaf, Bath Street Farmers Arms - out of town, Spring Gardens
'The ship' is the young persons pub, everyone goes there before going to Maguinesses (club) which is your usual run of the mill club, ok music and tarts.
The Vine Tree Inn may be a little out of town in its Berkley Road position but as a result doesn't suffer from the drunken daves and garrys at 11.20 every night. Well worth the treck for a filling meal (food served all day) or just a pint.
The nicest pubs are in the many interesting villages around the town.
Pack Horse a really welcoming old time PH with lots of atmosphere. This PH situated on Christchurch St East, Frome.
Cafes and Coffee Shops

Farmhouse (Greasy Spoon)
Ooh, nice new cafe opened at the top of Cheap Street, La Strada...I think. Sells "To dye for" cakes and chocolates, and serves a nice posh coffee to. Its another thing Frome has been waiting for, a nice coffee shop.
Fantastic new sandwich shop in Paul Street - they create your lunch while u wait - delicious!

can you believe that a skate shop at the top of catheine hill which happens to be on the historical trail serves the best coffee ( in about 10 different guises!) and the do fantastic sandwhiches made to order.
farmhouse cafe, bath street is a haven for those who like to spend thier live's standing in front of light flashing fruit machines.
The Garden Cafe, Stony St. is THE place to meet your friends for coffee and a delicious meal at a very good price. Great service and relaxing atmosphere

The Garden Cafe in Stoney street. Good veggie food, has a nice little garden at the back, hence the name.
