This is not for publication, it's information to enable you to correct your site. Ken Dodd has NOT appeared at the Merlin Theatre, he has appeared on several occasions at the Memorial Theatre.
Check out Wire World Great lane gaming centre open 12pm - 12 midnight mon to sun except thursdays closed all day
KEV LANGDON "cause hes to dame big to fit anywhare !
It's a very strange place. It's a cross between the sort of village that Miss Marple investigates murders, and Twin Peaks. Not that I'm aware of that many suspicious deaths there.
95% of the people that you see in the street have, at one time or another, tried to weave a basket or throw a pot. A lot of them consider that as the only qualification needed to call themselves artists or craftsmen.
They do grow some very good dope though.
Why have all the shops shut on Christchurch street - Woodalls, The portway paper shop and the chiropodists?
Transportation. Taxis are always late and the trains seem to arrive whenever they want too as if their is no timetable
All of Frome's 'super-criminals' seem to live on ECOS court. Ironically, this probably makes it one of the safest places to live
Most of Frome's criminal 'masterminds' seem to live on Ecos Court. Ironically this probably makes it the safest place to live.
LIDL's buy yiou sitting bull energy drink from here. KICK ASS. every thing is like 18p!!!
lived in frome for about 15 years and i reckon its a magical place, a crossroads in somerset.its diverse enough to have its own personality and is much better than warminster and trowbridge any day.i hate it when people diss it constantly but never leave-go to some other places then you can compare it.i wouldnt consider myself a fromie anymore but it is alright.
Frome is the birth place of great fun punk rock band "Far-Cue"...theyv'e played Glastonbury, London, Bridport, Weston...Etc.... They really do supply a hearty evenings entertainment
Trude from Vets in practice has just left sadly.
Frome is a medium town rapidly expanding with the addition of yet more houses! however, though we moan - it does own it's own Live Music venue, Theatre, Sports Complex, Record Shop, Whole food shop, numerous pubs, 2 Late night drinking holes, not to mention new clothes shops, Internet Cafes, and the very best in cheap entertainment - just watch any barry girl try to walk in those heels at the weekend!!!
THERE ARE TWO THEATRES IN TOWN: THE MEMORIAL THEATRE OFFERS MOSTLY MAINSTREAM
ENTERTAINMENT (EG ROY HUDD IS APPEARING SOON) AND THE EXCELLENT MERLIN
THEATRE WHICH ALSO FEATURES AN OUTDOOR AMPHITHEATRE. THE MERLIN OFFERS
AN OUTLET BOTH FOR LOCAL TALENT AND TOURING COMPANIES AND SHOWS (RECENTLY
CRAIG CHARLES, JO BRAND, RODNEY BEWES IN THREE MEN IN A BOAT)
The Merlin theatre. very small, but has played host to many good comedians. Ardal O' hanlon, Ken Dodd, Al Murray, and Simon Day (of the fast show) have all played there in the last year or so. It also has a pointless stone circle outside.
Frome is full of middle-aged hippies and little hippy shops, most of which are in Cheap Street
Frome is the first place in Somerset to have a Youth Council which is a younger version of the town council. We have a budget and are made up from young people from 11 to 17 at the moment. Each young person represents either a club or a school. The council has many aims but not least of these is to promote a positive image of young people. We are currently involved in organising events to celebrate the Millenium working with the Millienium celebrations Committee and organising a year 8 social. If you would be interested in finding out more about us, please contact the Town Council who will put you in contact.
Fairly good market in the on Wednesday and small one on Saturday.
Frome has lots of interesting old buildings, more listed buildings than any other town in Somerset. For entertainment in the evenings there are two theatres and a cinema.
Ghosts!: A hooded figure (monk) in the vicinity Christchurch St East. A phantom hitchhiker: Frome to Nunney Rd.
History: The Bloody Assizes led by Judge Jeffries led to the execution of several local men at Gore Hedge (all were Hung, drawn and quartered)
Worth a visit: St John's Church, Frome Museum, all sited in the town centre.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
