Kingsdown Chambers on the roundabout !!
The Tankerton Tower with its History known as the Tankerton Castle in Tankerton Road.
The windmill on Borstal Hill

-a sprung dance floor (the only one in kent)
The 'Castle' - actually an old manor house.
The Royal Native Oyster Stores; any of the houses on Island or Middle Wall.
The Old Neptune Pub
The Neptune (purely from an aesthetic point-of-view of course)
Demolish It Now Building
the oystrer company
The Players. Nice inside perhaps, but gfosh a good bomb on it to raise this old fashioned Church building. Just opposit St alphege, it does not put St Alphege in value.
Most of the old ones in the High st and yer make a carpark there .Thats what is needed bad in Whitstable..
canterbury
Barrie Green's Tile Warehouse, I'd pay money to see both the building and him leave Whitstable for good.
Harbour Street
and all Swalecliffe with all your 'bruv chavies mush malts' inside still (along with there swalecliffe crap boy racer things)
Most of the tatty shops down one side of the High St and turn that area into a decent carpark.
Somerfield, Courts, Bretts, That ghastly Belmont road eyesore of a tower block.
That horrible sky rise building in town.
Somerfield, Courts, the tank car park
Some of the tatty old shops in Whitstable that need a facelift.
The long Green Shed in Harbour St With Tiles in it..
The Brett Factory tower on the sea front
The block of flats that ruins Whitsbale skyline (of course not possible because then we would have to build more houses and link up with Herne Bay Uugghh!!!)
The flats in Belmont Road - they stick out like a sore thumb
The Best Things
Having our own theatre.
winter on the beach
The Umbrella. A drop-out centre. They do meals dead cheap. It is a drop-in centre so anyone can drop in, even the lost souls. Useful upto 2 o'clock for its very clean loos. I don't think the Local authorities will dare close this amenity. Staff is nice in there. Say hello to Tracy for me!
the beach it just great-not whitstable TANKERON
The shops up Oxford Street end of Whitstable its more upmarket up there bit more quality and you can park easier...Oxford Street Whitstable has some real good shops better than going up the big Supermarkets and more selection..
the beach huts!
the real whitstable people
Tele~Radio
The train, because it gets you as far away from there as quickly as possible
Seeing it [Whitstable] in your rear view mirror..
the fit lifeguards in the summer
The beach and the relaxing atmosphere.
Friendly, good for swimming in the summer.
The Beach in summer, sunsets, the friendly locals.
Teh cinema and the sea
Whitstable and Tankerton are right on the seafrontand have a good shopping area with good pubs and facilities for all types of people It is a good Water Skiing and sailing area and has good access to all the motorways leading to London and Dover. If you are thinking of moving here contact Russell Moxley on 01227 274471 for any free information on the area or click on www.countyestateagents.co.uk
Lots of alleyways to hide in JC Rook the butcher's chicken and ham pies...mmmm
The people-they really are friendly, especially in Tea and Times on the High Street. And if you need a city, Canterbury is close, while there are great woods at Blean and Clowes Wood, Chestfield.
***THE BEAUTIFUL SUNSETS*** (Nothing even comes close) Nice and quiet Very friendly people Beautiful summers
Community spirit; trendy, artistic community; my Mum and Dad live there
Lots of pubs, not all of them safe though. Friendly, unlike Canterbury. Whitstable is the ultimate in run-down cool.
Less dog turds per square foot than Ramsgate or Gillingham.
Relatively quiet and is three miles away from Herne Bay.
Harbour
Quaint shops High Street.
The beach
It's small, pretty, quiet.
The Worst Things
Dog pooh and litter. Whitstable does have charm, but this is negated for me by the depressing filth, especially when I have to steer my kids through it daily.
People who think they have an inalienable right to park wherever they like no matter how much chaos and inconvenience it causes.
The assembly rooms with the only sprung floor in the kent area as it was pointed out in one of your comments has been demolished. In fact most of that area has been demolished for the new horsebridge development.
summer on the beach
No bus and no taxi during the school runs (from 3 to 4 o'clock). If you are tired at that time go to my French chaps place mentioned above to kill time until the time slot is over! My wife says that's the reason why she gets fat!
Parking in the High St area terrible dont waste your time go to Tesco`s if you want to park a car!!
Is probably the overspill from London. It always existed, but seems to have gotten out of control...
parking if you live here!
The worst thing about Whitstable is the majority of residents are total morons! Most of them look like soap has gone out of fashion and a little bit of dental work wouldn't go a miss either. How the hell did my girlfriend manage to talk me into moving into such a shite hole I will never know!!!!! Oh and one more thing, the new Neptune owners are as rough as you can get so be warned.
The day Whitstable turned "Green"
whitstable is a racist community and it makes me sick.it makes me sick when i hear people saying horrible things about kosovans people do not know what they have been through. people like anson(hammer man),twiggy(golfer)(mark),carl(grass),george, nicky(james) ,rocky(black eyes),chicken(s**t) and the rest of the little hardnuts who need to grow up coz at the end of the day they always lose.
When the tides out.The winter in Whitstable.Friday & Saturday nights in the High St it can be a cross between Ulster & Beirut... take an armoured car if your driving thru..the police hide away until its all clear most probably giving your missus one if your down there having a drink without her!!!
The fact that dance music, clubs and nightlife in general seem to have comletely missed
Whitstable, or maybe the Council's responsible for licenses not being granted?
SURELY there's a market for one decent nightclub?
The Bear and Key. I need say no more!
Chavs, Townies, whatever.
chavs, townies, you'll find them lurking everywhere, beach shelters, nr the Tennis courts etc so look out!!!
The winter and the Whitstable High st traffic jams every day of the year..
Nowt to do
Herne Bay is quite close, and so is the Isle of Thanet. Public transport is not good and is expensive
The people who maybe associated by words such as "chavers" or "townies". These are normally groups of 14-16 year olds that think they rule Whitstable and everything and everyone in it. Best avoided as they can be annoying.
Seasalter caravan parks; the Duke of Cummberland pub
Yachties. Boy racers. Bus service gets worse daily. Shellfish from beach need "thorough" boiling before ingestion.
Winter. The whole town just stops.
Part of the Canterbury City Council Local Authority Area - guess where all the council tax revenue goes!
Not far enough away from Herne Bay.
The local MP; the Right Honourable; Julian, Family Values, "We'll Have No Poofs In The Army", Brazier.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide.
