Cringing Cult of Celebrity (Famous residents and ex-residents.)

• I saw Mrs Hunter off Hollyoaks outside Argos
• Several Emmerdale actors have been seen in and around Harrogate (Kim/Chris Tate, Jack, most of Dingle Clan). David Dickinson from Bargain Hunt was filming outside Betty's surrounded by several young women!!! (sorry to lower the tone of the neighbourhood!)
• fit leeds player alan smith goes clubin in hgte, my mates sis pulled him.....
• ru jokin???i dnt kno ne celbs dat came frm Harrogate apart frm Agatha Christie dissapeard in Harrogate!
• emmerdale stars always around!
• Half of Leeds United, several Emmerdale actors but few famous people were actually born here. The only ones I can think of are footballers John Scales and Andy O'Brien.
• Saw Paul Daniels in his MAG 1C green Jaguar driving in Harrogate today (31st May 2003).
• the amazingly talented £1 million burnley striker Robbie Blake lives in Harrogate! Although born in middlesborough he decided to move to Harrogate!
• prince charles is coming to bettys on 14th feb by helecopter to learn about the business and plant a tree at the cenetaff
• once saw marlon from emmerdale in jimmy's...
• Lots of Leeds & Bradford players, Ryan Sidebottom (long haired Yorks bowler)
• Peter Amory and Clare King aka Chris and Kim Tate in Emmerdale. Various other cast members from the soap including Sheree Murphy who lives with her gorgeous husband Leeds United forward Harry Kewell. Staff and players from Leeds United including David O'Leary, Rio Ferdinand, Danny Mills, Lee Bowyer and Eddy Grey.
• DJ Tim from the techno band Utah Saints was born in Harrogate. Whenever he is in the dance mags they always put Leeds though 'cos no-one ever wants to be from here.
• Many of the local girls can be found looking remarkably like their horses in a variety of 'rural living' magazines.
• John Craven of Newsround fame originally hailed from Harrogate and attended the Grammar School.
• Rudi and the pigeon with the club foot are common around Harrogate
• Quite a few really. The 'gate (as nobody calls it) is the birthplace of such legends as the skiing brothers Graham and Martin Bell and Spurs defender John Scales (he went to Rossett). Plus ex-Leeds manager had a flat here and the new estate on Yew Tree Lane is home to current Leeds boss David O'Leary and a couple of other local footballers
• I work in the Betty's shop and have served Mark Owen and Butch Dingle!!!!

Buskers, Street Entertainers

• when did anyone last see rudi? there's the fella on stilts with little baby wellies on the ends, who juggles, but not very well, and has to rely on the kindness of strangers to pick his clubs up for him. the old bloke with the guitar outside m&s
• God bless Rudi. Oh true, God is Rudi! Performing Arts Students at the college are also quite entertaining, they seem to think there part of the cast of Fame though!
• Toffe with his umbrella and his echo.Nice. Outside M&S often.
• Rudi - Mad as a ship's cat
• Sometimes there's a bagpiper who appears to spend most of his time coughing up phlegm.
• GOD! aka Rudy, he walks the high street most days and he's a pretty nice bloke =)
• Rudy has to be the finest street entertainer ever to live. Everyone knows him and he can make almost everyone laugh. Sadly, this seem to be due to mental health problems, but he really is a genuinely nice bloke.
• Good old Rudi

• Anyone who knows h'gte knows Rudi (a.k.a. Jesus) is wonderful street entertainment

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
