Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Ciro,s Night club at the back of the queens, small but safe, with mainly older cliental with music from 70,s 80,s & modernday charts. Always great to get on the stage for a shake down.Free entry before 11.45, Best to get in before 12.30 as they get very very busy.
artys is pretty shite, why come from birmingham and whatever, too many chavs and general idiots, especially that crotch stain owner! coalville? stay there.
Arties is the best place to dance but is packed with kiddies
THERE ARE ONLY TWO CUBS IN THE TOWN ONE I KIROS WICH IS MORE LIKE A SHOE BOX AND THEY PLAY NOTHING BUT CHEES EXSEPT ONE LAST THURSDAY OF THE MONTH WHEN WHEN THEY HOLED A ROCK NIGHT WICH IS NOT BAD BUT TOO EMPTY THE OTHERS I ARTYS WICH WAS THE CONTINETAL IT WAS RESANTLY REFERBED GOOD PLACE IF YOU WANT TO GET LAIED BUT THE OWNERS ARE NOT THAT NICE AND THE PLACE HAS SOME REAALY DUM DRESS CODE WICH SEEMS TO CHANGE HOURLY BUT IF YOU CAB GET IN ITS A GOOD CRAK
Arty's is ok but full of Youngsters. if u want a proper club CIRO'S is the place 2 go, with a mixture of music.lol.
there used to be Ciro's but no-one goes there anymore really since Arty's opened, its classier (in a way), the dj's better and the drinks are cheaper. Ciro's was a dive but the good thing was you could do what you wanted and get away with it.
Ciro's is now playing 80's stuff on Fri & Sat nights in 2003, good stuff Dave !
Newest club - arty's, where continental (erghh) used to be, quite good. Bulls Head does the best food.
Somerfield at Christmas usually has some pumpin' carols over the £12.50 tannoy
The Continental was run by drag queens for quite a while - is this still the case? It certainly added much needed Euro-trash in an otherwise dull, and backward town.
The only late bars left are Ciro's (a half decent telephone box) and "Ashby's Bar", "Bar 2 B", "Desires", or whatever its name is this week! DIRE!!!
There is a tiny dance floor at the back of the Lamb - very compact and bijoux on a Friday night with OK mainstream music
Continental Music Bar off Market Street near The Lamb pub. Resident TV DJ but only has a licence until 12.30. Gets packed at weekends.
Ciro's, behind the Queens Head on Market Street. Updated its musical choice as in the early 90's it was mainly over 25's. Small but friendly.
Live Music Venues
the war memorial again- has some quite good gigs
THE TOW PLACEES THAT HAVE LIVE BANDS IS TE WIGHT HART WICH IS ALWAS GOOD THE BANDS THAT PLAY ARE USALY COVER BANDS BUT MOST HOLD A TUEN THE OTHER IS THE PLUE THE LAND LORD IS A DICK AND NEEDS A GOOD KIKING BUT THE BANDS THAT PLAY THERE HAVE GOOD TALANT
The Royal Hotel has live bands every weekend. The Lamb has started to encourage crooning, not good. The White Hart (TART) to the locals, has live bands at the weekend, thats all i know of.
Some more local venues in and around ADLZ. ASHBY: The White Hart, good live bands on Sundays. The Lamb, started to have live music, duo's etc. COALVILLE: The Red House, live bands every Saturday. The Victoria Coalville, Trib and local bands 4 or 5 times a week frequented by the biker fraternity. New Ellistown Hotel, live music Fridays and Saturdays. BURTON: Chicago Rock, Trib and cover bands Thursdays, Wiggistom Hotel and Derby Turn, cover bands every Saturday
Royal Hotel has good mix of Live Bands at weekends. Better place now the Welsh Git has "done a runner"
The War Memorial Club and the Town Hall bars sometimes have gigs on. Regular music on a Saturday night in the Shoulder of Mutton pub, in particular the brilliant Ragga Man Speedy Banton goes down a storm!
Cinemas
nearest one is burton
the cinema at burton is the one that i would reccomend as it is the closest and relatively new.
the nearest cinema's are Leicester, Burton or Derby, all within reasonable distance.
The Lyric rooms on Lower Church Street was once the Picture House. In the seventies the nearest place would have beed the Regent cinema in Coalville. Now the nearest place is Burton on Trent, Leicester, or The Showcase at Derby
