• Bar Cuba - always lively, always good music, often something different, especially in the live music dept. - keep your eye on fly-posters around Macc.

Live Music Venues

• Lots of variety at the Arts Centre, www.happy-valley.org.uk/orgdrama.htm#ArtsCentre
• The Meridien has 2 music session a week. Monday and Thursday nights. Monday has been taken over by a few plastic paddies but once they clear off at 10.30 it improves. Thursday is for rock/blues/indie. They encourage anyone who wants to play to have a go, and have a few guitars on hand, worth checking out, especially for young dudes on Thursday. Cotton Tree has roots bands on Saturdays, some good, some awful "Irish" bands, it's always packed so get in early! Dog & Partridge has a folk club every week and occasional gigs like Amandla,good local blues outfit. Holly Bush has just started occasional gigs with 70s/80s band, not bad at all.

• The Waggon and Horses public house on Henshall Road, at the foot of Grimshaw Lane, often hosts live bands - including the aforementioned Jaleo.

Cinemas

• Yes please, one in Macclesfield would be nice.

• Well, I would have travelled miles to see a film here. However, Bollington being no. 1 for the Knowwhere list actually has no cinema. And THAT'S why young teenyboppers hang round the lateshop drinking cider. Oh dear.....it really is sad.

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
