Clarence Mill
Demolish It Now Building
Adelphi Mill - so that we can get redundancy pay - yippee!
Shrigley Court, one was an area of ye olde terraced cottages, now selling at excessive prices.
all the new houses along " sucka brooke" it should be turned in to a park and some were the young people can go in bollington.
The office block at Kay-Metzeler
The Best Things
Walks, the canal, the views, climbing up to White Nancy on a clear day, the Deli & Spice's veggie pates, always getting the snow when it comes this way, people who smile, say 'hello' and pass the time of day, being able to forget to lock your car & getting away with it, the Arts Centre, the parks, the Mums & Toddler Groups, listening to peoples drunken conversations outside your house at 1am!
Definately the people, erm, more people, lots of kiddies, erm pubs. Oh yes - and all my ducky friends on the canal - god bless 'em.
The way out, no not really, the pubs and the country walks.
The best thing about Bollington is the pubs becasue all the locals are so friendly and you get to know people quickly but if you are too young, there are some good parks with swings and stuff or some nice walks.
Being really close to the hills, as someone else said, and wandering along the canal. When I brought my American husband over to visit, he just kept saying "Awesome!! MAAAN!!" It's a beautiful place to live. Plus the stone cottages are another thing I miss over here... The biggest difference is that people don't think you're a lunatic if you pass the time of day on the street; round here, you avoid eye contact with anyone. Pretty sad.
It has to be said that Bollington is one of the grooviest places in the world to live, although that doesn't mean we want it to become too popular and over-crowded. I hope Bollington continues to be friendly and community-like for ages and ages.
The Worst Things
The new housing developments, the worrying number of flash cars and people who don't smile, say 'hello' and pass the time of day, the increase in graffiti & petty crime, the roads always being dug up & filled in really badly, dog shit along the canal, dog shit outside my house, dog shit along the Middlewood Way, people who drive through & around the village at 60 miles an hour.
People who leave dog s**t all over Bollington - my motto is 'if you can't clean it up do it at home'.
People in Kerridge who think they are too good to be considered a part of Bollington.
The road in bollington is terrible, the residents should complain more, maybe they have be come oblivous to the fact that the roads are so terrible and bumpy and havn't been re-surfaced for 25 that they haven't complained.
Lack of decent shops - but that has really been brought on by the weekly Saturday migration to Macclesfield.
It always rains when the rest of Cheshire is dry.
I seem to remember that there was sod all to do in Bolly itself, apart from the cadets. The main thing is to start up decent places for kids to go - especially teenagers; the adults can fend for themselves.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide.
