Favourite Building
The old Shed at Stamford Bridge holds some precious memories... thankfully they've kept part of the back wall in the new development (see demolish it now...)
Bibendums where suckers eat food for £100's of pounds per head. Terry Conran is taking the piss out of all of you!! He knows what a bunch of thick poseurs you are.
chelsea art college!
Peter Jones in Sloane square
The Michelin Building, for its "Michelin Man", at the end of the Fulham Road.
Demolish It Now Building
...the self-styled Chelsea Village at CFC. Even though I'm a Chelsea fan, I'm not blinkered enough not to see that this is modern tat at its worst.
king's college (oh they have!)
Sussex House prep school.. I was tortured there for a few years, you know who you are!
The Best Things
It's miles from where I live.
Staying at the Oakley Hotel and being able to wonder around that great & interesting area...wish I was there now as a matter of fact!
The Chelsea Kitchen and The Stockpot, good food, reasonable prices.
Spent my early childhood years there.(59a, Edith Grove)
Chelsea Football Club (situated in Fulham or at the very edge of Chelsea and Fulham) Arty, trendy atmosphere and the punk rockers that used to parade in Sloane Square during the 70's.
The Worst Things
I'm only putting this in 'worst' because I find the huge disparities of wealth this area symbolises rather disturbing, but I have to disagree with the writer who suggests this would be a bad place to live. If you do happen to have a lot of money (I don't), one of the massive houses down parts of the Kings Road would be fantastic to live in - huge inside, off-street parking at a lot of them, near the centre of town. Sorry, I'm just a bit jealous. I'll go now.
People who live in Chelsea are all MAD. I wouldn't live there if you could buy a 4 bed house for 30K because there is nowhere to park the car (yet the locals think that the most suitable vehicle to own is a huge american jeep) and it inhabited by snobby morons who have tons of money and yet are stupid enough to choose to live somewhere so awful. Why? I cannot understand what on earth would make anyone want to live there. The place has NO appealing features at all. If you are crazy enough to live in a crappy city that London is, then Greenwich, Blackheath, Richmond and Hampstead are all significantly nicer places than Chelsea which is not better than Hackney.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Chelsea.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Chelsea.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
