Inside Information

  • im grounded at th mo but the biffa bin in tcp (tescos car park) is occaisionly fun
  • thirsk is full of people that are either townies or moshers that all smoke weed and get pissed as they av nowt else to do the townies and moshers only have one difference bout them they wear different clothes
  • the townyies in thirsk are all scum most of them live on the council estate in Norby so what ever you do dont go there! There are no good shops in thirsk, its all charity stuff
  • we hang around on the town clock and are not happy with the bad press you are giving us townies! we have a lot of fun no matter what you think
  • townies, scallys, or charvers tend to hang around the clock which is the old newsagents in thirsk. steph is still going strong with calvin (wham) yeahhhh trever also none as ken is still stoned and growing carrots and loves ria also known as barbie. boyracers now have saxos, corsas, peugeouts, and scooby doos.
  • thirsk is full of townies and mingers. they are all inbread and have no lives hi to hanna k
  • thirsk is full off townies and they are all inbread by there sister the best thing about thirsk is that it is near were the milburns live they are well funny dont mess
  • as for the small minded person who talks about the boy racers driving around the one way system in there novas actually there standards have improved to corsas, peugeots, astras and suzukis all but barring 2 tom and oliver whilst 1 is still driving the nova(however red now not grey)the has gone down in the world and has invested in a 1.1 fiesta (oh dear!) As for the townies you seem to love so much they have left the town clock (unattended) for the skate park on carrs field to enjoy the delights of getting pissed and burning sausages on a disposable BBQ Just to let you know the updates of thirsk teenage movements!!!!
  • millgate carpark is a right hookup spot 4 all the boy racers with there loud music. its great when they all set off with a wheel spin and have a drive around the one way system then return to millgate carpark with a handbrake turn!
  • The townies also think that it is pleasurable to anoy the dog in the antique shop and jump on taxis in the town centre
  • Locksy Bridge over the Beck down by the Flatts is a hangout for most of the younger Sowerby kids, as is the primary school. The scum are to be found outside Kwik-Save (why?) or sitting in D-Reg Novas with scaffold pipe exhausts, happy hardcore blaring out of cheap, shitty stereos, thinking that it's a good thing to try and impress 12 year old girls. Not that i'm elitist or anything...
  • some tennages like to hang around in the park near the cinema, especially on a friday night or if there has just been a town hall disco
  • The town clock adds a certain degree of history about our market town - It is however covered in townies who find it pleasurable to sit on the cold stone whatever the weather, night and day. It is a place where boy racers can happily compare exhausts and scooters. Needless to say - fun for all the family.
  • Not so sure about the 'ROUGH' tag... If Thirsk pubs are rough, then the average pub in Madchester must be voluntary suicide !!! Friday and Saturday nights can be hectic, but rough NO !!!!
  • I hear that the pubs are exceptionally rough in Thirsk especially if you have a 'funny' out of town accent and that there is a severe drug problem there.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Thirsk. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Thirsk.

If you are unhappy with any of the content on this page, turn on the flags.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
