Favourite Building
The Pepperpot. If this ever changes we will surely go to hell.
The Pepperpot
The Pepperpot and all the shops down Church Street.
The Police Staion, just needs a good clean. Pevsener loved it and it won an award.... apparently. Save it now.
Memorial
The old Waitrose building in the centre of the town, because it's been re-vamped. So now you can pig out at the restaurant down stairs, then afterward run up the stairs to work out in Fitness First, then run down the stairs and get drunk in Wetherspoons "Jack Phillips" on the other side. A Fun day out!!!!
pepperpot, and the one where fleurs is, i also like the new waitrose building
The Water Tower house on Frith Hill.
The Pepper Pot - it apparently looks a bit like a pepper pot
The Pepperpot, The Titanic memorial (to the radio opperator) behind the Church.
Demolish It Now Building
The police station
The police station
The Atrium... dockland style lump of gated yuppie flats... come friendly bombs
the cop shop and then Homebase..and then Aaron's Hill
Godalming Police Station, ugliest building in Godalming
my school. i hate school
The seventies concrete chic police station, for other reasons aswell.
Hamble House. For a year with the scariest women ever breed.
Police station
The new Baptist Church in Queen Street is really horrible. It doesn't fit in with the rest of the town. How on earth did they get planning permission?
Neo-brutalist concrete Police Station
old waitrose building, all of the "sainsbury's super complex"
The entire Sainsbury's superstore complex.
Waitrose, the new ring road,
The old Waitrose building.
The Best Things
The character of the High Street, Church Street and Mill Lane.
Lovely little park, with super playground for children.
A gorgeous little gift shop on Church Street called "Pavillion". It sells all kinds of gifts which are a bit more special than the usual- and they'll wrap it for you!!
Record Corner and shouting at UKIP petitioners and the Museum
pretty countryside
very nice people live here. and contrary to A CERTAIN PERSON saying godalming is rubbish it is good. i mean not brilliant but good. And we are not all rich snobs.
Number of drinking establishments per person
Godalming is actually a great place to live if somewhat extortionate.....i grew up there and have great, maybe a little blurred memories of nights out in Piggies winebar.....which has now gone, the Scratchers, the Sun (ok scraping the barrel there) and of course...our own famous pub the Wanker.
Godalming has great architecture, history and environment. It's a pleasant place to live most of the time.
The way it was in the 60's and 70's.
the fact that i used to live there, and everyone's rich!
Mostly in the past now. Waitrose when in was the only supermarket for miles around. Crown Court. The Riverside Walk. The Ram. The Canberra parked outside RFD/GQ.
The train to London. The walk along the canal to Guilford, very nice
Godalming is a beautiful town, small enough to to make you feel like a real local. Some truely wonderful old buildings and narrow streets. Would'nt look out of place on a chocolate box!
The Worst Things
The bypass butchered the town, and for what? History gone for ever.
Flambard Way. Who thought up that stupid name? It should have remained as The Wharf.
The policy of letting supermarkets in, which screwed the town economy. Shame on the planners. But we have seen it everywhere.
Too many Tories and Charterhouse
quiet, boring and backwards
Great big corporate pubs in an otherwise pretty market town!
people thinking we are rich snobs. crime rates have increased very badly it is getting ridiculous. not just graffiti and stuff but other things
Number of rude boys
You are in the bastion of Conservative hell. If you're not being run over by some spoilt clueless brat in a BMW daddy bought him/her you have to listen to some muppet in the local boozer banging on about 'immigrants and townies' asthough he was living on the 'frontline' or wasn't half an hour from central London and couldn't recognise a tractor if one flattened him on the way home!.
Everything. They are spoiling the town.
Godalming still exists ? We stopped there once on a random weekday evening drive around Surrey and it looked like the whole town had been closed down for good. Everything ( what there is of it ) was closed except the Kebab shop.
The world's most fucking pointless bypass which ripped the heart and guts out of the town to move the traffic 100 feet from the High Street where it used to go.
This really is the most boring place I have ever visited. Filled with wealthy commutors who once lived in London
The rubbish the from the Kebab shop after a Saturday night. The piss heads from out of town who litter the High Street with beer bottles.
