Hook-up Spots (That hallowed spot where everyone hangs around with their mates dreaming of the time when they can get into the pubs or clubs - a bench, a corner: you name it.)

  • any bus stop stop tends to attract hooded teenagers. you just got to pick the right on or there'll be trouble
  • Great place to hang was Farnworth Social Circle Cricket Club. We stayed there for ages durin the summer, sat on benches drinkin beer, but not causing trouble! Fenced off these days due to todays generation of losers..shame.
  • Corner of Market St, Brackley St,. for a shag
  • outside the post office pub at 9am. does that bloody cleaner not know we want to be in the bar and pissed for 10am.
  • Every street corner is usually full of the local drunks seriously ugly women&yobs
  • Nowhere really unless you want to run the gauntlet of annoying kids
  • we use to hang around on farnworth market
  • I remeber when they all went on farnworth park and got some cans and would try and hook up with a little hulton girl but didnt seem to work untill they had some of the cans there was
  • farnworth is cool
  • Outside the Spar in New Bury. We were a group of non criminals who used to delight in watching all the sad bastards basking in cheap lager piss whilst on our way out for a pint in the pub when we weren`t supposed to. This group of individuals were affectionately known as the "Cavemen" probably owing to their neanderthal like behaviour and appearance.
  • farnworth park full of some of the worst looking dogs when the sun comes out if its sunny and you feel the need for a slapper the brit beer garden
  • sat afternoon picture the Ritz
  • farny park drinking white lightning, great place to get pissed before you headed off to the well missed city lites
  • the local market more shifty little kids per inch than anything moved from farnworth park as when i was a kid nothing left to smash
  • Farnworth Park was the place to meet. Full of us kids with our bottles of cider and 20/20. Terorising anyone who came near us!!
  • In 19666 or thereabouts it was the "Green Box" at the top of Stanley RD, off Plodder Lane. It was an electrical connection of some sort. I gouged my name into the paintwork with the edge of a coin and its still there. All the later graffiti and painting hasnt been able to obliterate it. I escaped from Farnworth long ago but occasionaly visit.
  • I really can't imagine such a thing in Farnworth unless your 'purple period' ran from about 1920 to about 1939, in which case you may have found like minded souls in one of the several and now mostly ruined Edwardian pubs in the area.
  • the phoenix club
  • Farnworth Market. I myself used to sit there with my mates getting rat-legged off a bottle of cider, wishing I was 18 so I could go to the Brit.
  • Any corner in farnworth, among the hookers and drunken madmen.
  • Farnworth market a favourite for young (dropouts) they have no brain and just sit on the stalls or turn them upside down and smash bottles this a sad realisation of the times we are in,there parents don't give a damn, send the kids on the street and leave the parents alone, coz they don't want disturbing, they are far to busy watching corrie or eastenders on the BOX!!!!!
  • Market St Launderete
  • Everyone tend to hang about near Asda, the focus of activity near the shopping precinct.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Farnworth. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Farnworth.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
