Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Pacific wot a place gr8 4 a surfer chick like me
Shout
Liquid Rock is really good now!! top night out there £5 to get in. Old Skool also played on a Friday and Saturday..Honeyz is ok but dont go if your chlostraphobic! Dali Bar is really cheap..however not as good as Litten Tree
Bar Mystique. it's above the flying horse. fridays tend to be lots of motown / northern soul and saturdays tends to be a mix of current dance tunes mixed with 80's
I am overflowing with Rochdale nostalgia. Xanadu's was clearly THE GREATEST SHOW ON EARTH!
Does anyone still miss Xanadu's? Those were good days.
having visited fraggle(liquid rock) these past few months i have noticed these last two weeks a new dj (come back old dj all is forgiven). if you like someone waffling over your fav dance tunes this is the place for you if not i recommend else where (but not chicago rock (cheesy)) places i recemmend are sol viva (bury) or visit halifax many good clubs there.
Rochdale club scene is toss methinks. Xanadus burnt down thank God and the little munchkins migrated to the nile and nemesis when they could sneak in. There are no house, hip-hop or trance clubs. get over to Manchester.
The club scene in Rochdale has really gone up! The Nile is a really good night,( VK vodka 2 4 1!) however it doesnt really get busy until 11-12. Theres also Sinclairs, Chocolate (chocolate monkeys, mmm! youve got to have 1 of them!) mangos, litten tree, flying horse, the regal moon (really cheap drinks in here, 1.09 for a bottle!) Thers also funnies, if you like the gay scene, thats a funny pub aswel. Chicago rock is for the older type, and then you have Liquid Rock which is for over 21's. Theres a bus that runs from near Yates on a friday up to nemesis, it runs every 30 mins and even brings you back when your wrecked out of your head! despite what people say, you canhave a really buzzin nite and the nemesis, aswel as a really bad 1! Thursdays and Fridays are usually really good. the most you wil pay to get in is 6 quid
Wouldn't bother!
Hit the Sheaf in Newhey!! Kareoke on a Friday night! Wicked!
I just wanna say Xanadus R.I.P, I think I speak for everyone when I say god bless that club, complete tradegy that it was ever shut down! Will never let anyone say anything bad about that club!! Imagine velvet walls, sticky floors, toilets with no locks on, people walking about with like 6 bottles of vodka source before 11 cause they were only a quid, people who looked like 13, ahhh those were the days! Nemesis, ok but over rated. Nile, boring as but maybe Iam biased cause a ex bf of mine works there, Liquid Rock for old people and people trying to pull old people. Cant think of anywhere else even worth mentioning.
Hamer Non Working Mens Club.
Tiffanys dissapeared about 15 years ago..........and Nell Rackers Burnt Down over 20 years ago!!!
Xanadu's ... baby-faced clientelle and a really dodgy selection of music.
Nemesis - excellent. Massive building with great decor. Top live performances from leading dance artists (recent performances inclue Yomanda and Alice DJ) Best on a friday or saturday. A tip for the wise, get a coach in from Oldham or Ashton as it only costs a fiver which includes a coach there and back and entry into the club whereas normal entry is £6.
TIFFANYS,NELL RACKERS
Live Music Venues
Transport Club for all your new wave of old scool AC-CD
rochdale? decent bands? ha! nah oj the backdoor project is on near the bus station on some fridays its really good for meeting up with new people. the music range is from metal, alternative rock to emo. its well woth £2.50.
transport club- drake street, liquid rock and drakes on a tuesday, night and day-manc, academies- manc, jilly's-manc, MEN-manc, appollo- manc, roadhouse- manc
Transport club for sweaty long haired old man music and oulderhill school for punk at the backdoor
Bruce Spiringsteen man - where did he go when the £1 cinema got shut down then turned into a bingo hall then a Wetherspoons?
there's the backdoor project at oulder hill college, and the dog and partridge in whitworth, not forgetting the mucky duck on drake street
Academy and mani uni
The Backdoor in rochdale is a decent venue but the owners will screw you if you don't have backing. They claim to be a local project but use local bands to provide the audience for outside bands who headline and get paid worthwhile money. Kick Out the Jams was a great night while it lasted and sometimes the Transport Club has a mixed band night.
Chocolate, Pacific, Mango's, Litten Tree, Cicago Rock, Nile (same as above really)
Go into Manchester!
Unless you like the Meatloaf wannabe in The Fish
Pineapple, Howard Street.
Mucky Duck Pub, Drake St
Rochdale transport Club on Fridays, Baron St
Liquid Rock, off drake St
Cinemas
Odeon
SANDBROOK PARK!
There is the Odeon Cinema at Sandbrook Park.
the odeon is ok
there is the odean but that aint nowt special, i recommend the printworks in manchester
ITS AN ODEON! just a cinema nothing extra however there is a pizza hut and a mcdonalds outside it.
The odeon at Sandbrook park, great for a night out as the nemesis is right next to it, go and watch a film then party the night away at nemesis!
There's only one isn't there? Odeon???
Used to have a total flea pit for a cinema, now have big multiscreen effort. Nice and new and clean. Wouldnt travel miles to go there or anything but its alright. Also right next door to nemesis which can be handy.
ABC cinema. Excellent. quite expensive but there are loads of screens (not sure how many). Go for the luxury seats if you can afford them as it's like having your own armchair!
