Record Shops
woolys or whs if not fopp is the best place.... dundee like
dundee hmv!
Usual rubbish - dundee i hear you cry
There is none, thee used to be a fanny of a shop in the "cellars" but now its weatherspoons cellar it aint there lol
apart from woolworths forget abbey music we go to dundee an extra £4 on cost of cd
go to dundee
Go to Dundee or use the internet. Does anyone still shop in Arbroath??
HA...ur jokin rite...arbroah is shit dnt cum here there is nothin 2 do an everythin here is so shit....scumdee9dundee) is da place 2 go...spesh 4 music(grouchos,an FOPP in da overgate 4 cheaper music
woolworths is ok but i used the net to get my music or go to the kappa city of dundee to get my cd's
nothing but bloody wh smith since reel to reel closed!
Woolies!
abbey music! man that shop.....suuuucks
There aint any decient record stores in Arbroath, unless ur into charlie landsbourgh or daniel o donnell then there is always the poxy little shithole called ABBEY MUSIC located across fae the steeple.
WHSmith, Woolworths you can get older Albums e.g the Beatles, Country singers at ethel austin in the Abbeygate
If you want a great place for records, you will be disapointed. Reel to Reel is the only place that I can think of - but it isn't very good so you may just want to stick to Woolworths.
GMV Millgate
hahahahah you jokin the nearest and best record shop is Grouchos in Dundee but its just a hassle travellin 15 miles to buy music
Don't come to Arbroath to buy music, there is absolutely nothing here. Sure there is WH smith and Woolworths, but who pays £18.99 for a cd nowadays?
klepto and son attop of guthrie port opposite the abbey is the best second hand shop in the area selling everything from music games antiques to the kitchen sink. Lovely staff kevin, julie, anne
The dodgy Reeel to Reel shop where CD's are 40p and scratched to hell!
Sigh, well there used to be a great vynil section upstairs of a small elana mae shop.
Used to be that is. Just wanted to mention it because that is where I bought
all my records as a kid. Nowadays though there is only John Menzies,
but if you are really ionterested in quality second hand material,
hop on a bus to nearby Dundee and look for Groucho's.
Reel-to-reel in the high street is good for picking up cheap CD's and records.
Forget it! Go to Dundee and find a real music shop!
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
waterfront, odins, devitos
Is the Waterfront still Open??
Hey! - Alan is so much better than that Jason was.
you asked what happened to Jason from Odins and you told us the answer!
Hmmm... something not right about that post....
I heard Jason was sacked from Odins cos he was shite.
Whatever happened to Jason McCagh who was a great DJ in Odin, he had good banter with the punters, had a laugh, sometimes was out of the Dj booth, doing a better job than security,he did leave for a while, but returned after a couple of years away from the club scene,i think he was much better than Paul Evans and old skool Alan, he had a great voice, and it's not all about mixing,,, he was wasted in that club, he is more of a Radio personallity than a club jock.. I think he now is a presenter with Radio Tay in Dundee, i have listened to him, he is Much Better than dave connor,Mike Richardson and Gary elwin,
he should well be on day time Radio, what do you think...
Odin A.K.A Fight Club
Waterfront Night Club and De Vitos Night Club
Good old Ballys eh? Yohan lives on - u tasher perv (joke) not. Was the best thing sinced sliced bread - now wouldn't know last time i was there Take That were playin...
Yes, well, errrr, clubs suppose there ok as its the only few in Arbroath but to be honest id rather go out for a few in arbroath then get the train thru to dundee with a few of yer mates then head out there. Then when you get a taxi home its only like £5 each ....oh, and yer Kebab
Wooooooo I am always in and out of the town back and forth country hoppign and jeez when will things change, THE WATRE FRONT STAYS THE SAME JUST PRICES CHANGE THE PEOPEL I HOPE DO TAKES A WHILE FOR THE GENERATIOSN TO COME AND GO. AND YES this placve is full guys and women tryign to stay or at least look young. BOUNCERS stop looking at Womens breasts andf guys faces to judge ages or mabey just perv on them heres a thought "can we see soem I>D" Not hard to do.
Odin best left alone Devitos has actually improved with te bar and seatign area down stairs pity the band there plays like 15 decibals too loud for a small room but its an improvement. upstairs at the top has a chill out area which i gues u can say is fine an improvement again Middle section club hopping two bars small dance floo within an hour of opening is packed. Not bad for a hour or so if you dont mind payign to get in, then just cruise see whose there.
Pubs drop the Sppons and allstars etc go find a small street pub like the corner or the abbey inn somethign or along the water front areas good princes great pints and crisps and always a chat going on.
Sppons isnae bad for a afternoon drink with friends
viewfield do band nights. there were a few at flipz but it sucked and was way to cold. the carnie got a few lined up though. but would it be wrong if i said that the punters of the viewfield seam a tad short in stature for such tall pints? lol
Yeah, ballys! woooooo! Have never had such terrible nights out in all my life. Piece of advice - get very drunk in the pubs (westport bar is my favourite) then DON'T go to ballys, but move on to someone's house and party there!
devitos......balleys on a sat nite is where ul find evry1
declaration, balleys(the water front), wetherspoons, allstars
ballies is a bra nite out if they get the likes f donde ablo and picotto spinning on the decks its fucking jumping at a glam
Odin asn't that bad you know. I've been there as a regular on a Saturday for a number of years. The music is such a mixture, I've not found anywhere else. The DJ,Paul, mixes everything up in a great way. His talent deserves great things. The venue IS shite, but the music's worth the visit, especially as it's free to get in!
one word BALLYS cant beat it so dont try(thats right i mean you devitos)
dundee
devto's the best palce just down up by faiser's own hands(owner) well looks cool now!ballys is aload of shit full of we shams just like all of arbroath with its funny drink prices that change so often same with the door price bouncers are nasty as fuck dont give you any respect!lol
The most popular venue in town on a Saturday Night is Odin Nightclub. The Resident DJ, Paul Evans, reliably mixes old anthems and current faves. He has to be one of Scotland's top DJ's. Odin is a must, whatever your age. Well.... on a Saturday. dunno about the other nights...
ballys yuk
odin nightclub.good staff and even better talent
Need a mortgage to get into ballys - but strangely enough its still as shit as before!!!! Odin is okay if your pissed, well really pissed and verging on the unconscious state.
Erin you are great, please love me
i love the barmaid with the green t-shirt at odin
Odin is the place to be, who is the stunning woman behind that bar with the green t-shirt on, somebody give me her name, her boyfriend must be so lucky
Ballys....Is where all the sad single 28+men go...
Well this one is for the ladies, Arbroath men....I would stay away from them as they are all so childish most of the men havent grown up yet....Think Arbroath men are so scared of independent women..(Im refering to men of the age 27-36) Most of the men that are single will go to Bally's on a Satarday night to try & pull a young thing anything in a skirt..Try to re-live there youth as they dont want to grow up.. Most of the men that go to Bally's on a sat night actually think they are god's gift!!!!!!! Well there not they are just sad loneley men who cant find a decent women & are scared of some women...If I was you a single girlie reading this I would not even bother with Arbroath men there are better men out there! Who know what they want & act there age & know how to treat us girlies.. Also you never know what you might catch from an Arbroath Lad, they are walking STD cases.
Waterfront, Devitos, and Odin are the limited choice in Arbroath!Waterfront is normally only open Sat night but on bank hols they sometimes do Fri and/or Sun!It's the biggest club in Arbroath, which means it has to be really busy to look busy, and it's usually full of teenyboppers, not my idea of fun but each to their own!Devitos has started opening Thurs-Sun with various special offers to attract the punters, their busiest night being Friday, it seems a waste of time being open the other three nights as locals grudge paying the entry fee and extortionate drinks prices! If you don't mind the expense and like to be looked at as if you don't belong there then a good time will be had by all!Odin is open Wed-Sun, Wed and Thurs usually mostly attended by marines, other nights a good mixture of old, young civvies and marines!Relatively normal prices for a club especially when its free entry, downside to that being that those who cant afford to pay Devitos and Waterfront prices often frequent here along with those who just refuse to lower their standards to Devitos level!Theres also a bar downstairs for those who want more privacy, or just to be served quicker on the busier nights!Odin is definitley my favourite but there are good things about all three clubs it just depends which nights you go out, what you can afford, and the kind of atmosphere you go for!
Odin, definatley the place to be.Hosts the BEST looking bar staff in town, all with tight bums!!.No saggy arsed middle aged prossies here(Anchor).Gauranteed shog with good looking men, good variety of music, cheap drink,no entrance fee, nice doormen,no potheads no doggys,no stupid gimmiks or silly poofy wristbands to entice you.Just a good night out in safe surroundings.Maybe a few weird women who have a severe lack of fashion sense and hygeine, but hey we cant all be perfect, but the staff are pretty close!.Try it,you might like it.Odin,a break from the norm!!!.
Ballys ie. shithole, is the only place to go in the town on a sat nite.Nips cost £2.50 And bottles and pints cost around £3.75. They bring in a hole host of meant to be stars such as the cheeky girls, jordan, qfx, flip an fill, madhouse and some 70's bands and tribute acts. All of which have not made that much of a huge sucesses in the land of stardom. And the fact that everyone moans about it being seven quid a ticket but still go,they are willing to pay an extra three quid to see that fucking shite.
Cant bet poppin in to wright's bar on a Sunday night for a gid auld karaoke sesh.
the waterfront is good for meeting up with people altough being only 20 i feel like an old woman walking in to a nursery( some advice for the bouncers its not the breast you look at it is the proof of age
oasis and th cafe
THE WATERFRONT WOULD BE THE BEST PLACE TO GO ON A SATURDAY NIGHT AS THERE ARE PLENTY PEOPLE AND AS EVERYONE KNOWS EVERYONE YOU ARE SURE NEVER TO BE ALONE (OR SOBER)
Cafe Project and Oasis
Well i like balley's we all enjoy oursleves and we get laid from the likes of the (not uggy)but plenty of his mate's though infact every'one his mates except him the music is no-bad better when a Glam is on only thing with that is all those dundee tinks that come along looking like they are all just back from a war with there tashes and shell suits on but Arbroath is becoming little Glagow i wish all those immigrants would all go back to there own cities
Well back to clubbing our usual haunt is Odins on a wedensday and a thursday which is a good laugh when the choppers r away usually see mike heenan or pyso sleeping there in the corner as for a friday well off to Divito's for a laugh and a joke alway's pull in there for some reason and saturday off to the waterfront for a piss up well saturday alway's leads to sunday morning in the fishermans then round to the spoonsthen off to delaney's to annoy the lads in there and to see zimmer and listen to some pish and thats it for a night out in the Broath
Well we have "Ballys" if you can call it a club.....if you like sticky carpets we have DiVitos....hummmm....Odin (the Cattle Market) West Port Bar.....yes ...well....I have to say the club life is poor.
Odin - beats Waterfront if you're over 20
The Waterfront AKA "Ballys", this is writen by a current empolyee thats been there a good few years. With new ownership and with friday nights just starting to get really good dj's in sort of a mini glam but few people have tried it yet. Saturdays on the other hand usually see around 450 people in but during summer and the end of each month there is usually around 750 - 900+ in, it get hot and sweaty but if the beats are good, Its Great pleanty of tallent Female / Male
Waterfront, now not owned by Wan**rs (I can say that cause I used to work there) is still the best place to go on a Saturday night.
hmmmmmm odin chaplins devitos(SH!TE) i suppose theres ballys or whatever you want to call it.Theres weatherspoons but there aint no music its justba glorified pub
hahahahahahaha oh dear sorry there is Ballys/waterfront whatever.Oh and the Odin hahahahahaha need we say more
DeVitos has changed hands now and I went for the first time in ages last week. Had a great night. Music excellent, busy place!
Having been to many clubs in the uk due my job i have discovered that Ballies is one of the better ones around in that area.
Corner is a good little pub with a very modern jukebox (aye)
Phoenix is agood club (the phoenix is rising)
bally's/the waterfront/smokies, which ever you want to call that place next door to the fat pillock in leisure bowl (and nobody hangs about there anymore!)
The Fishermans has a, erm, nite life?
Odin? forget it, it's a pit for ugly drunk males on the weekends
The Viewfield always has something going on, its next to the timmer's shops (where the shams hang out most of the time i.e when theare not at school i.e they are NEVER at school)
Ballys (sucks), and um Chaplins (west port whore capital of Arbroath)
I love the way our resident nightclub changes its name every so often, and how the population in general still calls it Bally's. I've recently returned to Scotland and have therefore started attending the Waterfront (sorry, Bally's) again. It's actually a good venue now. The large semi-circular tiered thoroughfares and seat cavities which envelope the dance-floor gives the whole palce an almost Roman arena feel. No joke. Or maybe that's just my mangled perception when I'm there.
There is a night Club called Oasis where all the SHAMS hang out to think there right disco dancers.
Waterfront but everyone calls it Bally's as that is what it used to be called and it has just stuck aye!
Well what can you say, former employ of bally's, sorry the waterfront, with its more than disingenuous owners, it is simply the best club in Arbroath with the highest entry fee I have yet encountered for a regular night out in a small town.
It does however have its redeeming features, the dance floor is huge, the carpets allow you to stand up and nt fall down(due to some fantastic stickiy mechanism) and the people are generally friendly, ask fro the Barmaid Tracy and say that Iain Sent you
As mentioned earlier, The Waterfront, lot's of kids there though. DeVito's
is ok when you have had a good few beers and want to dance on a sticky floor.
Also Odin's is not too bad and has a quieter area downstairs where you can sit,
though it is not always open. Beware though most clubs in Arbroath can get
wall to wall with people at weekends.
YEAH! Waterfront, doss laff. Shite hot place to be. You'll find the
regulars - Jumsie (watch yer feet), T-Bone Malone (watch out, it bites),
Smitty (Sweet talker, beefs ya on the saturday, pictures on the Sunday,
bins ya on the monday).
The Waterfront rocks!!! Coz my friends work there. There is also Devito's, Chaplins, Odin and Dellanys. Also Oasis for young teens but when I say young I mean young!
Well who could forget the newest (certainly by no means the best) club in the East
"The Waterfront" previously named "Ballys" On a Saturday night you can find music
to suit most tastes from Ian M. DJ. Recently been done up - certainly the place
to go if you like purple!!
Live Music Venues
viewfield has played a couple bands tht have made it... lost prophets, farse, the fratellis and captain everythin(sorta)
the viewfield puts on some bands now and again, but there mostly local rubbish.
The Viewfield Hotel. Just don't accept any offers to buy anyone a drink. They're parents probably don't know they're out.
the viewfield, which is a rubbish place to drink normally, but they manage to get some good bands to play, not jst local either, hell is for heroes, biffy clyro have all graced the stage
I heard that ballysor the watter front whatever u want to call it is gonna have big bands play there soon

The Viewfield is still the ONLY place in Arbroath to see decent live music. Thanks mainly to Beat Generator.
the viewfield where else can you get quality tunes and cheap drinks!
the webster theartre has to be the best place or oasis!lol old fansioned music is well good and oasis fashion show's welcome the no hope bands that have had one hit like dside and 3sl and romeo

hmmm, viewf holds some bandnighty things, and the cafe project if ur a lil sk8er wannabe
viewfield have great kareoke. westport bar were you might be lucky enough to see pepperpot.
The Marine!! Brings back memories. I used to play there regularly ..Pendulum was the name of the band at the time. Also remember a band called 'Minky Pimp or later 'Guinivere. Really loud..Great stuff.
Webster theatre Band nights are usually at different hotels look out for posters
If you like older bands, look at the Webster theatre, where the Drifters and Smokie have played.
Up and coming bands - try the CAFE project.
erm, Band nights at the cafe project which are always on 'this friday' but then get cancelled to 'next friday' and then get cancelled till 'next friday' and so on so they only ever really happen once in a blue moon... but when they do its a local punk rock fest (woo hoo!!!)
Vixy's stereo at the cliffs in the summer time when everone jumps in to the medeteranian type waters of the 'tranquill' north sea
Or again with 'Vixys' stereo down-the-front in between swigs of a 1997 Austrian chardonnay 'dahling' in between blasts of 'Dead bodies everywhere' or a little bit of limp bizcuit
The webster thaetre where we have had them crazy rockers Dominic Kierwan and daniel odonnell
Too numerous to mention but here is some, The Foondry Bar, The Nash, Sandy's Bar(remember Don)etc,
Webster Theatre man! Ye Charlie Lansborough and Mary Duff you can't beat that sort of shit!
Not really although the Viewfield, which is out of the centre has touring live
bands, mostly cover bamds like AB/CD. Well worth a listen though.
