Hook-up Spots (That hallowed spot where everyone hangs around with their mates dreaming of the time when they can get into the pubs or clubs - a bench, a corner: you name it.)

  • Rock and Record. . . . . need I say more
  • around the Clachan doorway, the pyramid, the railings at Nicolsons paper shop
  • any doorway or alleyway seems to do the trick for us classy chicks for our midnight hook-ups!
  • the narrows r still,&always will b a fave 4 hangin around, not so much th clachan doorway/window nemore, coz th big scary new owners shout@u if ur there 4 more than 2 seconds!!scary biscuits!!old woolies doorway handy 4 a wee bit o shelter, but its always overcome by a bunch of seriously underage stoners and the likes!
  • best place for a wee session has to be the back of a car or at kenny's house. however if u cant get those then go down to the alley linking macleod rd with westview terrace.
  • In one of the many boy racers cars.
  • The castle grounds - planted and paid for by nineteenth century smack dealer and erstwhile owner of Lewis, Sir James Matheson. Since then the grounds have been used by Lewis youths for all sorts of social activities. Participation in such activities can involve getting quite muddy in the wetter months (most of the year!), but thats half the fun!
  • POINTERS!!!! WOOHOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Its the place to b if your 12 - 16. your betta off goin 2 a mad party in harris. they are mental. by the end of the nyt u end up counting how many sheep have turned up!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • those were the days hanging around the castle grounds, we used 2 hang round the schools, the fire station u name it we were ther, causing a stur, wen it wis rainging we used 2 hang around in the shity library, in warehouses if we were 2 drunk sum used 2 hide bhind the traders witing 2 catch some1 2 buy then booz so wisnae us lol
  • The 20p toilets are rather popular at the weekends its a gud spot!
  • since when was the "old leurbost school" a cool hook-up spot im very worried now?!
  • Usually Franciscos flat. You'll probably find this place if you look hard enough, if not behind a church or behind the haldane centre. The benches at the fountain. All the doorways including the town hall, the chinese in town. People usually just "plod" round the small block that is Stornoway and that is how us folk socialise.
  • the place to be on a fri or sat is def the lewis at the start then move on to the crown and more than definatley end up in The Heb, it's so the place to be or that's wot you tink wen you've had 1 2 many!!!!!!!
  • Doing 'laps' around the big city after the pubs shut is what the 'cool' kids tend to do. If you're lucky u'll get the chance to erm alliance in a doorway with ur piece of meat ;o)
  • Since when did the old leurbost school become a hook-up-spot may i ask?
  • The step of The Royal Bank seems to be quite popular these days but it's getting into winter weather so back to Pointers Door Way it is
  • the royal bank steps is a regular
  • LEURBOST OLD SCHOOL
  • the wall across from the what-was clachan, now that it got burnt down, the boys have no where 2 stand and look cool, so they hop up on the wall next to the laydees. touring in cars is a favorite, keeps us dry seen as we have such shit hot weather, aye rite!
  • Outside old woolies, it keeps you dry when it's raining!
  • the bus station of course duh
  • the castle grounds
  • Nicholson Institute
  • CLACHAN BAR: The "rough" rep has gone!!!!! New management has made this THE place to go at the weekend if you want "LIVE" music.Previous reputation was because of poor previous management and "chinese whispers" from "The Max" The CLACH is now a friendly busy pub----Do visit for the best pint in Lewis
  • Round the back of Euroclean is turning into a very good spot for young men to "liase" with each other these days. Allegedly! Outside (or inside) kennys deli is also a "hot spot" depending on whether your preference is for a "left" or "right" hook.
  • Boys outside clachan door trying to look cool, girls the wall across the road waiting for someone to drive them round town.
  • Can only be the pyramid and the narrows on a Friday or Saturday night. After a good night out, it's a great place to be. Meet friends old and new, and if you're looking for someone, it's the place to go.
  • after the pubs on a weekend lots of fun to be seen through the narrows. In the summer people can be seen at the railings outside the green chemist.
  • The step on the public toilets is where some people sit but it can get really really cold and no matter how much they try to kid themselves it is not fun!
  • the coffee pot (of course!)
  • The pyramid on Cromwell Street is where everyone meets not the pyramid in perceval square,(is there even a pyramid in perceval square- I dont think so.)
  • After closing time the pyramids opposite Percival Square is the place to be if you want to see whats happening. On the other hand, if you prefer not to be in among drunken brawling teenies, steer clear.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Stornoway. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Stornoway.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
