Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains

  • Bhanu Fashions Mirakel Allsports
  • oxfam, british heart foundation, & if u wanna treat urself bon marche or ethel austin
  • there is plenty of dem! unlike in Teignmouth! (devon)
  • new look and thats bout it in corby! oh and SUMTIMES select but other than that we hav to go other places!!!!
  • If you want clothes, the only place to go is The Corinthian, any size, colour, brand catered for.
  • NOWHERE FOR ANY ALTERNATIVE CLOTHES SO IF YOU ARE BY ANY CHANCE ONE OF THE MINORITY THEN YOU BETTER GET OUTTA CORBY TO GO SHOPPING CUZZ YOU AIN'T GONNA FIND ANYTHING HERE!
  • None whatsoever for the "alternative dress sense". unless of course you want to shop in all of the charity shops (which will get you battered black and blue in corby!)
  • None really the last decent shop was Burtons who fucked of to Kettering. I guess there's always "The Officers Club" which is a blatent rip off of Burtons, and cheap crappy clothes. If you smoke, I think their stuff would melt.
  • Matalan has just about everything the average Corby man will be wearing this season!
  • go to Ketering, Northampton, Oxfam even...........
  • ASDA - George!!!!
  • Clothes shops! other than Adams and George Allen, again best try the pound shops. all other clothes shops left the town like Burtons and principle.
  • All Sports sell some skate gear but its all cheap and nasty and real skater like me tend to make fun of the people who actually by some of the crap from the shop for example vans trainers :P!
  • George Allans! Yes! Come on, you've all been in there, when that guy with the beard used to work there. School issue, Selattios (1977 - 78), fonzie bomber jacket, sta- press trasahs, doc martens (oxblood astronauts wiv levver laycis as any decent skin will tell ya) High buttock donkey jackets (long before gaultier came over as an exchange student and nicked the idea mincin back off to charleroi with all our fash cred wedged up between the cheeks of his huntley and palmers oh yes indeedy)THIS SHOP WAS WAY AHEAD OF ITS TIME. Class! Also the forerunner in supplying ginger fright wigs, celtic tops, freckles etc,etc....
  • Plenty of clothes shops, but none every makes a profit due to the amount that is nicked.
  • not much to go by littlewoods, etams, thats about all
  • none good 1 there all shit!!
  • Did have Bay Trading but now we have loads od £1 shops
  • NOT ENOUGH!!! none for the individual (freaks as the trendies call them)
  • George Allans, need I say more?
  • Oxfam - always a source of wonder for us college people
  • terrible clothes shops in corby, why else does everyone go out of town for something decent. new look, select etc what a joke!!
  • Again, try leicster, theres no good clothes shops 'cept the shitty ones like Etam, Bay Trading, New Look etc...if u like that sorta thing :s
  • Bhanu Fashions and Mirakel Clothing are by FAR the most UNDERRATED shops in the town. Sadly, thats about it. Burtons/DP/Bay have shut down now (what a surprise)
  • Corby town centre is sadly derelict of all forms of intelligent life nevermind any decent clothes shops. If u want anything other than New Look clothes that everyone else has got u've got to AT LEAST visit Leicester!!!!
  • We need more mens clothes shops+shoe shops!
  • CLOTHES SHOP UPDATE - Burtons, Dorothy Perkins & Bay Trading are no more!!!
  • mothercare
  • Average town centre mix of 'Yoof' clothes shops, including New look & Dotty P's (sorry Guys I didn't check for you!)
  • burtons, benneton, all sports, sportsmart, jjb
  • The only decent clothes shop in the town is about to close- yes Bay Trading!Due to the CRAP 'Town Centre' high rates and the lack of use by the town's people. Closes on 31st March 2000.Closing down sale starts soon.
  • Tammy girl, New Look, Mark One.
  • THERE ARE NOT MANY GOOD, I REPEAT GOOD CLOTHES SHOPS IN CORBY, THERE ARE ALOT OF SMALL CLOTHING SHOPS, THAT STAY FOR A SHORT TIME AND THEN GO BANKRUPT. CORBY TOWN CENTRE NEEDS A REVAMP AND I BELIEVE THAT THIS IS STARTING, WE HAVE ALOT MORE CHAIN STORES THAN EVER BEFORE SO THERE'S A HOPE FOR THE FUTURE.
  • There are not many clothe shops in Corby. A 'Bay Trading' openned this year which is good but most things are over priced. The only other clothe shops are Dorethy Perkins which mainly has clothes for older women though it does have nice shoes, and New Look where you can find the odd nice top. It's better to go shopping in Leicester.
  • The Town Centre is absolutely unbelievably poor. It's that simple. It's so bad there are no analogies to illustrate it. IT IS CRAP.
  • A few high street names for females such as New Look, Select and Bay Trading
  • Due to a diabolical town centre, there is very little in the way of clothes shops. The usual high street shops exist, Burton, Fosters, Dorothy Perkins, Mark One and Etam and the like, but there is nothing specialist. You're better off going to Leicester or Northampton.

Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)

  • There's a new market stall selling handmade jewellery and such, and supporsedly handmade soap after christmas - if it lasts that long! No body jewellery though.
  • rathbone whattttttttttttttttttttttt!!!
  • There is a shop called guieniveres that sells some quaint little nik naks.
  • East Carlton Countryside Park
  • Corby Library in the town, regularly holds craft groups and such groups events for children and/or adults.
  • willows arts centre lounge bar. usually a display of local artists work. for exhibition space tel 01536 402233 building also houses corby community arts arts development officer for help on project funding music action zone for all information on youth music / tuition
  • Not really, asda is your best bet, but there is genevieve up old village
  • Kool craft shops up the old village. Genivive and another one next door.
  • Genevieve in the village is good for jewellery and unusual odds and ends.
  • Corby decided to knock Art related subjects off its budget coz 'Corby Works' and art isnt a proper job! No inspiration anywhere in corby apart from a small section in the library that dares to show a few paintings from students
  • Your sit really needs updating about East Carlton Park the sugar craft left year ago my husband and myself have a work shop now doing motorbike sculptures, infinity candles and tealamps all my husbands art work there are more workshops now open there and it is well worth a visit.
  • Try to catch the Rainbow Craft Fair at Rockingham Castle is the summer. You'll spend a fortune but it's worth every penny
  • Try and catch the Rainbow Craft Fair at Rockingham Castle, it's worth every penny
  • yeah you have to be really skilled at avoiding trouble.
  • east carlton park do a lot of crafty things.
  • Very little on Public display.
  • a new witchcraft shop think near the escalaters above the bus station, quite good if thats ya thing! it dont float my boat though
  • East Carlton Park, or try the Old Village.
  • NOTHING REALLY APART FROM THE OCCASIONAL ART CLASS OR COURSE.
  • buy some crayons out of partners - wooo
  • A roaring trade in Damien Hirst/Tracey Emin style burnt-out cars, trolleys dumped in streams and Tennents Special cans piling up as we speak. Grafitti in the tunnels between Danesholme and the Lincoln is pretty ground-breaking too: "RAZ & JOCK 4 EVA 9T8" etc.
  • No Arts and Craft shops, try Kettering.
  • I dunno, East Carlton but I haven't been there for ages.
  • someone mentioned that howitts have some craft shops but at the minute there is only a sugarcraft shop, however there might be some more coming
  • a small museam down east carlton park talking about the steel works
  • Finlay Crawfords crochet course at the tech. Learn how to knit your own yoghurt and curd tapestries, make wonderful bry nylon christmas gifts for all the family. Also save ££££££'s and learn how to make your own ginger fright wigs, celtic tops and cans of freckled tennants.
  • This is corby ,do not be silly.Have to go 8 miles for anything like this
  • East Carlton Park nearest Craft shop
  • The Living canvas, a contempory account of suburban violence and tennants super fuelled male courtship ritual which involves two or more males wearing ginger fright wigs, freckles and celtic tops advancing and reteating ,in rapid and continued sucsession, circularly and agressively, for about ten minutes whilst two or more stringy females look on in awe and expectation sucking on cans of tennants super. The climax is achieved by one of the two or more males'friends scrunching the least agressive advance and retreating ones boat race in with a glass. Any Corby pub on a saterdey niet.
  • Can't remember but my mate Wayne Davis and his wife have just opened a organic health food shop.
  • genevieve quite nice gifts up corby old village.
  • i think there's some crafty shops up nr (Howwits?) oh well its near the graveyard on rocky rd
  • Melanie Price, an artist of some quality, will be exhibiting her new Modernism collection in May (Festival Hall). The collection includes "The Works" which was recently on show in the Tate modern and has been bought by Liam Gallagher for 50000 pounds
  • graffiti in the subway is alright staff is anyway
  • Genivieuves
  • reflections in the old village is a good art shop
  • Rockingham Castle holds art and craft things.
  • There is a man who blows glass figurines at East Carlton Park (about 1 mile from Corby), it's free to watch with no obligation to buy. That's it for art in or in fact near Corby.

  • WH Smiths, Woolies, A lil newsagents (cabbies?) nr oxfam always has kerrang!(shit now it wont) Our Price and various other newsies
  • get burnt down
  • erm wh smith
  • Go to the news agent opposite to 'ETAM', you can buy magazines at a discount!
  • There is one on Corby Market. It probably doesn't do much business.
  • Don't be silly.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Corby. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Corby.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
