Food
Why not pop into King George VI Centre on Knowsley Road, they have an open plan kitchen so you can see your food prepared and cooked before your eyes. You can get a two course meal with a cup of tea or coffee for £2.40, the chef is a character and always makes us laugh when we go in there. He trained in some of the top hotels in London and this shows in the quality of his food. Highly recommended !!!
bootle oriel road chippy

THERE IS LOADS OF PLACES TO GET SOMETHING TO EAT INC MACCYS, KENTUCKY AND PLEANTY OF CHIPPYS, WE ALSO HAVE SOME GOOD POSHER PLACES.
chicken curried fried rice3
THE PEEPS FAST FOOD 31 ORRELL ROAD
I don't know what's happened to Peeps over the past couple of months the food is a disgrace, A so called Spanish omelette with hardly any filling and about as thick as a crepe (has the price of eggs gone up). The chips that at one time were plentiful, and just right all appear to be re-fries, made from inferior spuds, and now in portion fit for a Biafran. No egg on the special fried rice now either. The standards of this chippy which has been situated in Watts lane for years have gone to the dogs. Do yourselves a favour, give it a miss go somewhere else. YUK.
only shite like mc d etc
MCDONALDS THERE IS ONE EVERYWERE
Golden harvest by the jawbone. And you can't fail to mention the no-neck chippy.

Yep, people from Bootle do go out to eat - but from yhis list they all go to South Road which is in CROSBY!!!!!
the only place we used to eat in Bootle was yates or that other one in thew sssstrand
Bootle doesn't boast as wide a choice as Liverpool but there are a few nice Chinese restaurants, The Princess Garden on Rice Lane (I suppose this is really Walton, but it's near)is about the best. Really you are better off eating in a pub.
If you have your heart set on eating in a restaurant and don't want to go into town, you could do worse than to visit neighbouring Waterloo.
is nice
The Buttery on Stanley Road Top place
Definitley Cahrlie Parker's in Crosby road North.
Surprisingly people DO eat in Bootle. Try Rui's, Aintree Road for Italian; The Packet Steamer, Dunningsbridge Road (by Switch); or head up to South Road, Waterloo (Just past the docks)- loads of restaurants there particularly Antonelli's and Nicola's for Italian; Esperanto for Mexican; La Barbacoa, Bridge Road for French; Ko Sing, Liverpool Road for Chinese; Charlie Parker's, Crosby Road North (Bit expensive that one). Alternatively you could believe people don't eat in Bootle.
Nobody eats in Bootle.
Pubs
jollies

the irish club, windham, merton , toll bar, jawbone, and to finish off the strand club

Kerry's bar on the dock road. Formerly known as Nina's. Formerly known as the dockers hook. Cheap ale, strippers 3 times a week, cheap dock road prostitutes and they don't throw you out for smoking pot. Cool.
THE MERTON IS AMAZING PEOPLE COME FROM ALL OVER LIVERPOOL BECAUSE IT IS WELL KNOWN.

A big goodbye to the old BA on Orrell Lane, burnt to the ground. Old centre of the orrell park area of Bootle community. Scene of many drunken people, kids hangouts and fun fairs throughout the 80's
And Secrets (alsoknown as clouds and Allsions) nightclub, 50p a pint, chicken basket meals and a whole world of physically challenged women, and people of a youngish age, trying to get in on ID's made from cereal boxes. Gone to that big neoned sign nightclub heaven.
the MERTON pub on merton road, sullies and yates's on stanley road the K ( krazy house) plummers on hardman street bar med by queens sq bus station, garlands off dale street

The Merton Hotel was used an American Military Hospital during WWII - for 'infectious disease' cases!

'Ma Kents' and the 'Salt Box'(Linacre Road) are in Litherland and not Bootle as stated in report.
The Queens, Madigans Lighthouse, Yates, and if really desperste The Winnies.
Wetherspoons has opened a branch in Bootle, underneath The Triad. Very nice it is too, decent ales, good food and, best of all, NO JUKEBOX ! You can actually hear people talking to each other, this is no bad thing !. Their menu is fairly standard stuff I suppose but it is done well and is terrific value. Their latest deal at the time of posting (July 2000) is a curry, (many different ones to choose from, Korma to Phaal) poppadums, naan breads, chutney, and a pint of lager ... all for 4.99.
Wetherspoons has opened a branch in Bootle called "The Wild Rose" so named after Gladstone's speech, in which he says he has sen the wild rose grow in the very heart that is Bootle. Good wine from about a fiver a bottle, decent ales and NO JUKEBOX !
Sullivan’s re-opened in July 99 after an extensive refurbishment due to a fire.
They serve food 6 days a week and also of a night time cater to all music tastes with DJ's playing music from the60’s through to the current chart and dance scene and on Thursdays it’s live entertainment with the regions best bands (CRUSH, SUPERSUB, VIZ JOHNSON THE CHEAT BEATLES) and many more. The current resident DJ’s are Pete smashy Stuart, Flatty, Mark Magee, Andy Laird, and regular guest appearances from Kev Seed from Radio City 96.7. Local footy celebs have also been known to frequent the venue too
The Mel-Inn (They've got a wide screen and everything!)
The Wharf on Merton Road (Try the beer garden!)

THE MERTON ISN'T WHAT IT ONCE WAS, SADLY. THE MERTON USED TO HAVE THE BEST STAFF IN EUROPE - JIMBO, MAZZA, DAMO, GAZA, SIMMO 1 + 2 AND THE SNIFF..A FEW OLDIES STILL REMAIN - ADAM (THE WAH), HALLIGAN AND NOGGS..ALTHOUGH IT WILL NEVER LIVE BACK UP TO IT'S REPUTATION AS THE MOST ABUSIVE CSUTOMER/STAFF PUB IN EUROPE..EVERY NOW-AND-AGAIN THE CONTEPRARIES WILL MAKE CAMEO APPEARANCES JUST TO KEEP THE PEACE WITHIN THE BOUNDARIES OF SCALLIES TO DECENCY WITHIN BOOTLE..
THE MERTON ISN'T AS GOOD AS IT USED TO BE, SADLY. WHERE IT ONCE HAD THE BEST BAR STAFF IN THE NORTH WEST I.E. MAZZA, JIMMY, DAMO, GAZA, SIMMO 1 + 2, AND THE SNIFF, IT NOW RESEMBLES A HOME FOR RETIRED CIRCUS GIBBONS..
ALTHOUGH THE LADS STILL POP IN NOW-AND-AGAIN TO MAKE CAMEO APPEARANCES, IT WILL NEVER BE THE VIBRANT, WITTY AND STUNNINGLY CUSTOMER ABUSIVE SETTING THAT ONCE HELD THE COMMUNITY KNOWN AS BOOTLE TOGETHER..
TRY RENAGANS ON ORIEL ROAD GREAT BARMCAKES AND A QUITE PLACE FOR A NATTER ON A FRIDAY LUNCH TIME
THE RUBBER DUCK,STRAND ROAD BOOTLE,A QUAINT LITTLE WINE BAR DOWN BY THE RIVER,HAS A GREAT SELECTION OF BEERS AND A FINE ARRAY OF EXPENSIVE WINES, CATERS FOR A MORE UPMARKET CLIENTEL AND THERE IS ALWAYS A POSSIBILITY OF BUMPING INTO A LIVERPOOL OR EVERTON FOOTBALLER OR MEMBERS OF THE CAST FROM BROOKSIDE AND I THOROUGHLY RECOMEND IT
Ma Kents has been there forever, it just wasn't called Ma Kents until Brian took over
A new pub in Bootle on Linacre Road: "Ma Kents" well laid out pub excellent decor - spacey even when its full! They've got loads of oldie world relics on the walls (its like being in River Island) and some great beers & live music!!
Good pub with good live music (especially if Alternative Radio are on!) is the Salt Box on Linacre Road. If you pay a visit say hello to the Manager, Geoff, a nice chap.
The area to the back of the Strand, known as Bootle Village, is quite popular too with five pubs in the space of about 150 yards.
Places to drink in Bootle include Yates Wine Lodge where all the teenage girls drink(!), the newly renovated Merton and Sullivans.
