Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • THE MANHATTEN BAR AINTREE (NEXT TO THE OLD PARADOX NIGHT CLUB) IS HAVING A OLD SKOOL PARADOX NIGHT ON THE 31ST MAY 08 FRRE CAR PARK FREE ADDMISSION ALL STARTS FROM 8PM TIL LATE WITH DJ PAUL R AND GUESTS
  • the strand tavern is now the best place for a drink in bootle village on a friday/saturday night. quiz night on wednesday and karaoke on sunday.
  • the strand club in the 70s was as good as any thing going
  • garlands
  • Kerry's bar on the dock road. Formerly known as Nina's. Formerly known as the dockers hook. Cheap ale, strippers 3 times a week, cheap dock road prostitutes and they don't throw you out for smoking pot. Cool.
  • TO ME BOOTLE IS THE MOST AMAZING PLACE IN LIVERPOOL. BOOTLE VILLAGE IS FUN PACKED BRILLANT NESS, THE MERTON IS THE BEST, EVERYONE IS FRIENDLY AND EVERYONE IS JUST OUT FOR A GOOD TIME.
  • again too old
  • o51 is a beast me bro works there good djs an that
  • The Merton!!!shithole!
  • just a comment about the quadrent park club some of the best weekends of my life were spent in that club with frends spring board to the dance club revolution faaaaaaaantastic.
  • hi could any1 tell me how old ya av 2 b 2 get into sullys? ASAP!!! TRA
  • Yates Wine Lodge in Bootle HAS FINALLY had a re-furb, and it is now a top class wine bar. Its still open till 1am on Wed, Thurs, Fri & Sat nights, with a 12am bar on a sun night. From Wed night to Sun night it caters for everyone. Wed night is karaoke night, Thurs is something of an old skool night, Fri & Sat nights are the nights when all the top tunes get banged out all night long and Sun nights are a 'rewind' back 2 the 80's, with a 2-4-1 offer on different drinks! The DJ's on in Yates are as follows - 'Crazy Charlie' new 2 Bootle but is a very good DJ nevertherless (Thurs nights). 'Jay Conley' one of the up & coming DJs in Liverpool at the moment and really knows his stuff (Friday nights). 'Mark Woods' a very good pro (remember him from Fridays etc) he's behind the decks on Sat & Sun nights and the karaoke DJ is Gazza Thomas, (who should be a stand up comedian aswell as the karaoke!)he does his stuff on a Wed night. So Yates has took over AGAIN as the place to be in Bootle, the Merton had its chance and blew it, and believe me Yates is back to the top and their DJs are top class, definitely THE BEST around!
  • 051, aquarium, plummers on hardman st,garlands off dale st, bar med, the arena concert sq the living roon, lloyds 1 bar blue ber albert dock
  • Went back in 1973 for the first time in 23 years and went jiving with my youngest sister 25yrs old[she was only 3yrs old when I left the UK! She introduced me to Toad Hall at Formby, I think?
  • Sullys - what a bar!! go and get gassed and kop with a ming!!!
  • We used to love the Merton. Sticky floors and all. They have done it up now but it will always be the Friday college drinking pub before heading back to more lectures pissed.
  • Yates was good on a Friday night and Sullies was good for an Orgasm(the cocktail)and that pub on Litherland Road. not the Jawbone, the other one.
  • The Cavern - go and see the Shine there on June 29th. In Bootle, there's nowhere unless you're 13 years old.
  • Sullies got petrol bombed in March 99, so it's closed down at the mo.
  • Secrets on the corner of Hawthorne Rd / Church St is about it really.
  • Liberty's, Heysham Road - 10 entry dinks free all night Paradox, Aintree (Next to Switch). Go to Sulli's by the Strand if you want to cop.

  • The Farmers Arms on The Dock Road has some interesting evenings. It used to have a slot on the local cable channel featuring Billy Butler and Wally Scott, but I wouldn't let that put you off ! Maddagans Lighthouse on Knowsley Road has live bands on some nights, as does Yates' on Stanley Road
  • O'Neills - go and see The Shine on May 28th The Cavern - June 29th (Don't forget!)
  • The best used to be the Docker's Hook at the bottom of Miller's bridge. Now a strip joint or something.
  • Good place for live music is the King Dicks on Litherland Road, or the Cuckoo on Moss Lane.

Cinemas

  • The Commadore, to see any thing , becouse it was the only place you could have any piece with a bird
  • The Odean Bootle, the little sweet shop next door
  • WE HAVE 2 LOCAL CINEMAS CLOSE TO BOOTLE, 1 IS MORE FAMOUS AND A LOT MORE POPULAR.
  • odeon all the usual, though actually quite good, less scally hassel than u would expect
  • odeon on switch island or the plasa the show case is ok but too many lads smokin weed outside it makes you nervous
  • Can we have one please.
  • SWITCH ISLAND its got cinems, bowling quasar, maccie d's bakers dozen matalan and opposite switch island 1-3 leckwith road is the superb RAMPWORX for sk8rs bmxers and inliners only!
  • Switch Island (or is that in Netherton??)
  • Bootle used to have a lot of small cinemas which have now unfortunately become bingo halls or funeral directors. The nearest one (though not strictly in Bootle) is the Odeon at Switch Island. Not as big as The Showcase, but they do have Hagen Daas !
  • Nearest is the new Odeon on Dunnings Bridge Rd. Largest Odeon in Britain, apparently. Good 'un too!
  • Carlton in Moss Lane was the best picture house to go to. It was turned into a bingo hall. Sad!

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Bootle. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Bootle.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
