Food
my favourite restaurant is an utter gem that i only discovered recently. Chez Moi right next to Robertos near the Bold Hotel on Lord Street, small intimate setting, perfect for early evening dinner, best steak in Southport id say. There peppercorn sauce is to die for, cheap prices, great for good first impressions on a first date. Another place to go which isnt cheap but certainly has status is the Wrehouse brasserie, which attracts the local celebrities and such celebs as Jordan, Dean Gaffney, Sid Owen, Jennifer Ellison are all often seen dining in this restaurant. p.s the foods pretty decent too, the jaffa cake pudding concoction is fabulous
lambs aiece ,golden dragon mcdonalds kfc
lidl is good if you like german food but mind the oaps they tend to block the isles when ur in a rush
lots on ocean plaza and down lord street
gastronomie sandwiches on wesley street - stupidly cheap, great food.
the italian kitchen is a modern restaurant thats not too expensive, but if you cant afford £25 each, in most restaurants £35+ each, each then you cant afford the restaurants in southport. fast food is all you can get. macdonalds and kfc.
They have the fast food chains like McDonalds, KFC and Subway and loads of Chinese Chippys, Indians etc.
There's not alot of English chippys except the handful near Funland etc.
Chez Moi on Lord Street is excellent, the manager(?) has a very good knowledge of food and wine.
pizza hut on ocean plaza
turkish delight for chips at 2 in the morning after clubbin
kfc eastbank st
Sahara on Manchester road for the best and biggest kebabs
the butty shop down market street make nicceeeee sarnies!
the Food Lab.... they make nice Pizza's.... but go to Pizza Hut Ocean Plaza (I work there)... ha ha ha
The Curzon on Lord Street. Good service and a nice atmosphere.
Garden of Death Indian....a true piss heads curry house
SPOILT FOR CHOICE!
burger king - oh wait nope, MA BAYD
u cant get betta in southport than sahara
hamidos on liverpool road is the best take away. morroccon food! there is nowhere like it!
butty shop down market street,at the side of the market ,do a mean 'breakfast special',2 bacon ,2 eggs,2 sausage and tomatos or mushrooms and whatever,£2.35.
CHIPPIES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Spice Paradise Balti House on 12 Union Street is excellent!
ASDA!!!!
Spice Paradise Balti House down Union street near the casino, mulligans, and next to the jasmine tree and the guest house serves the most amazin indian food at great prices! A Must for true lovers of traditional indian cuisine. It makes all the other indian restaurants look like shit houses.
Maccy d's
The Shamraat behind Lord Street is a real old-fashioned post-pub curry house. The food's good and the staff are friendly. The Belash used to be another good Indian but only if you are willing to wait until the next day for your meal. I have twice walked out without eating after waiting over an hour for a starter. Some very good Italians on and around Lord St., especially Mario and Roberto's and Casa Italia. Once saw Kenny Dalgliesh in Pizzeria Mama Mia. Fleetwood's and Harper's on Eastbank St are excellent chip shops.
The best after hours takeaway is TURKISH!
Although if your hungry after a night out, expect to queue! It's well worth it though!
Turkish Delight and Zete's Place!
yateseys is a classy "pub" n is kynda loude at night but moderate by day n good grub n prices to match
Turkish Delight on Coronation Walk is the be all and end all for kebabs and pizzas, and if you fancy a fight, try going there of an evening
Weldons chippy in Birkdale Village is good for Steak Canadian buttys
Joy King Chinese restaurant,Seabank Rd off Lord Street(Tel 500016) Best Chinese I've ever had - nice cheap banquet on somedays. Spicy chicken wings that put KFC to shame.
Junk food a plenty. It's a good place to get incredibly fat. Once you've achieved a sufficiently large frame, wear next to nothing and hang out in any of the low-class pubs or clubs. It's guaranteed to get you laid.
Mcdonaldz, loadz of chipies knockin about
The Warehouse Brasserie was excellent. A bit expensive, but tasty food. If you fancy something a bit more tradtional to take your mum and dad, try The Prince of Wales Hotel, which has a superb cavery lunch, seven days a week.
Reuters - first class restaurant Flava - best cafe bar for many a long mile Kavoos - for that essential 2am doner kebab
That chippy at Cable St. is the best thing in town, the best thing in Merseyside, best thing in UK, best thing in Europe and best thing in the whole world
McDonalds
The best is a Mexican in Stanly Street: without a doubt the best Mexican around.
Loads of good places down side streets off Lord Street - Le Frog and the Salamander are two.
Cathay Garden is a really good Chinese at the far end of Lord Street. Don't be put off by the sports cars outside - it's not that expensive.
Pubs
O'Neills is pretty good cos you can play jenga there with big blocks!
Dull. Most nights you're almost guaranteed to walk in to a never ending, endlessly tedious quiz night.
around
ronnie's, off houghton st, is a gorge, tucked away spot, which plays mtv thru the day, and karaoke amongst other things at night. Brilliant ajoined restaurant, but bar has the best atmosphere
Grandstand , The Crown , The Sands , The Bold Arms , The Park
Maloney's has cocktails, but steer clear of poseurs in The Glasshouse (it's pretty crap anyway).
Carlton Flava - voted one of the best 30 bars in Britain recently and does the claim proud. Top atmosphere, wicked DJs and it would not look out of place in London its that good Glasshouse - ram jam full at weekends but good dance music venue nonetheless Quid Pro Quo - smart dress bar. V.posh Bar Non - see Q.P.Q
Lakeside Inn and The Guest House are the pretty best pubs. No discussion about that. And The Crown, at Coronation Row is really good too. I hate that crap places like Coronation or Maloneys
O' Niels...what more can I say (The quintessential Irish theme pub) The Bold Hotel (Lord St)...it's..?...well it has 'Hurleys' on tap !
Maloney's in the Scarisbrick is OK, but go to Liverpool, Bootle for more life. The Guest House gets some pretty good guest ales, I can't remember the name of the road. Also Wetherspoons have just opened a pub on Lord Street, it costs from 89p per pint depending on what you get, Theakston's Best is 99p.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
starbucks, costa coffee, loads all down Lord Street all you have to do is take a walk down there and take your pick
lots of them just walk down eastbank street and you're bound to find one.
cafe nero, starbucks, coasta, plenty of others that make decent coffee too
There is quite a few in Southport. They have the likes of Cafe Nero and a Starbucks.
Darcys Formal Tearoom on Eastbank Street
A choice of loose leaf teas, served in china teapots and silver tea strainers. A choice of half a dozen excellent coffees served in cafetieres, afternoon and cream teas in oppulent suroundings.
A pianist plays on Saturday afternoons. Excellent for a relaxing drink or meal
cafe nero = classy
costa coffee on lord st
woolys for brekkie
theres a fab ice cream shop on lord street it sells the best ice cream in the known universe also dose lunches and snacks and stuff
Madly random milkshake bar opposite from the market
Fantastic expresso on the corner of Tulketh and Chapel Street called Vivesco. The big brown sofa is very comfy too.
very good coffee on Tuketh street opposite Morrisons.
every where else...overpriced lousy service and require pension book as ID.
cafe nero, costa, the one where u get cool sugar packets with crazy sayings on the back of them! KARL CARPENTER LAD!
Nero, Tony Owens
cafe matisse is a great cafe/bar
funtime is gud! cheap n theres an arkade 2
that cafe nero is looking good on chapel street!
ASDA!!!!
Cafe Nero is boss but stupidly expensive... waste away
Nostalgia tea rooms and masonic town hall!!!!!!
Espresso Cielo!
TDF ( too die for) realy is nice but youll b dieing at those prices!
try wollies allways a winner
The Coffee Bean in Market Street serve the best toasted sausage sandwich in town, although they are a bit tight with the tomatoe sauce.
Cafe Matisse is a must for daytime frolics
It's impossible to get a decent coffee in Southport. Two establishments, in my opinion, have achieved the 'close but no cigar' award. Still, that's no match for a decent coffee.
