Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Gibsons is the only club left since the Vic shut, Boars head has great music by Ricey
Gibson's
the vic.gibbos.
Um the Vic is probaly your best bet and i would say this because i happen to be the daughter of the owner. Thanks for the comments you made. x
The vik, and gibbos, They also do an under 18's vik, for all those people WHO ARE UNDER 18!!!
vic under 18's is s**t music is ok. 2 many kids under age in der
the clubs in town r full of fat slags in clothes 10 sizes 2 small, the guys r retarded an the music is shit.
Delicious is a great night out and its not just for the young kiddies of oswestry they play decent music and they dont just have shitty djs they also have top djs like Lisa lashes she was there 2 wks ago and it was the best night out that ive had 4 a while so fuck you you loosers
the vic

GIBSONS-GIBOS
EAGLES
GEORGE
WEATHERSPOONS
OK, just to let people know that the first ever Rock/Alternative night is coming to Oswestry on 10th April 2004, upstairs in The Vic. It will feature top tunes from top DJs (haha), and expect to hear a mix of rock, metal punk and ska. Only 4 quid in, and for that, you can't argue, right guv'nor?
For a town the size of oswestry delicious is ace,Find any other place this size where top djs like Lisa pin-up, Nick Rafferty, JFK play on such a regular basis, admitidly the other clubs (gibsons and bonkers at the vic) are shite, However they are what you would expect from small town clubs, ive recently moved away from the area and now live in a larger town where i would kill for a club like delicous.Worth mentioning is The Buttermarket in Shrewsbury which aint to far away and holds a hard house night called Invasion - check mixmag for dates.
Recommended: The Boars Head (not strictly a pub, but licensed til 1 am and has a dancefloor), and Gibsons (by Woolworths, cheesy pop)
Not recommended: The Vic/Bonkers - you could be forgiven for thinking you had just stumbled into the innermost reaches of satan's arsehole upon entering this 'club'
the vic
top red
THE VIC EVERY OTHER FRIDAY NIGHT OPENS 7 TILL 10 AGES 12-17
wassup y'all , yeh well delicious is probably the best spot @ the mo. although a mate of mine is starting up a qulaity Drum and Bass night, if thats ur thing. it's called Wet Dreamz. a he's bring down all the big london DJs and MCs . so yeh look out for the flyers and give it a go. it could be the thing that oswestry is waiting for....
unless your local u dont fit in im local and its a buzzing night out n ive been to alot of places. but people there always make u feel welcome as long as u dont act like prats!
Bonkers on a friday night used to be a good laugh, cheesy and tacky as hell, lots of 16 year olds snogging on the dance floor, everyone trying to pull haha! Gibson's was refurbished a few years back, and is in a similar vein but a bit smarter, with a slightly older crowd.... if you wanna just go out with your mates, get pissed and have a laugh then Oswestry's fair game.
Delicious is on a Saturday every couple of weeks behind the Vic. Its alright for a laugh, and everyone's always spaced in there so its not dangerous
typical saturday night: Eagles(see everyone your going to have to avoid for the rest of the week because of the way your going to behave later on in the evening), Top Red (tries to be trendy now because it does cocktails and shooters), Butchers (fight amongst the crowd to get served and then get told off for dancing because theres no entertainment licence - bar staff miserable), Five Bells (huddle around electric heater outside and guzzle on drinks that you don't actually like - because the selection is crap), Boars (bump back into everyone you saw in the eagles and try and persuade those not too convinced to come to gibsons and not delicious with you - avoid misbehaving infront of bouncers), Gibsons (nuff said), McNally's (eat you chips and chicken curry and then boark it all back up outside of poundstretchers) - lastly wobble home worst for wear and nearly get run over by a parade of boy racers as you fall into the road!
Well im from London....and came down to Shropshire to see my bf......We went to oswestry...Erm..Delicious....sh*t music!....and Gibbos....even sh*tter music!lol....full of old grannys!!!! ergghh!
Delicious play at the Vic niteclub with top smalltown DJs on the decks...cool!!
Gibsons,900 capacity, middle of the road but is proberbly most popular club esp:at weekends.
I don't do clubs - especially in OS, as they are all crap.
Well its a shit hole basically.... got Gibsons by Boars and post office....for the sad f***ing desperate F**ks of the town grab a granny night hahahahah.....the Vic delicious.....kiddies place......really oswestry is full of youth clubs
Gibsons, The Vic
Live Music Venues
Ex-Serviceman's Club
Gibson's
The Boar's Head occasionally

gibbos.ex-servicemens

x servicemans club
MUSIC LIVE
Admitidly not much on this from , the ex- servicemans is the best bet, and also monkeycrap is good for a laugh but Col hasn't run one of those for a while.Again The butttermarket in shrewsbury has good bands playing now and then.
The ex-servicemans' club has the biggest stage in the town and often has bands on. Check out After Nuthin' in their, ask their singer (works the bar now and again) when they are playing again - always a good night in their.
The Bandstand
Look out for "MonkeyCrap". When theirs a MonkeyCrap gig goin down, its guarenteed to kick ass
are some good local bands around - but no-where for them to play. if ally's band is still about (everyone knows Ally) check out them.
No strong venues but some good bands around. Check out Flinch
The park - Oswestry Music Live 2001 - old men, the odd banjo and bearded ladies.
Just the Walls (?) Woodlands used to be pretty good, open air rock festivals in the park are the way forward.
a few local bands......in the pubs......on rare occasions
Cinemas
None, the only one was changed into a clothes shop. if you want to watch a film go to shrewbury or wrexham.
shrewsbury
your best bet is shrewsbury or wrexham. oswestry doesn't have one any more. the mad bloke who used to run it refused to fix the roof or something, he refused to pay up and repair it and yet still moaned when the ciouncil closed it down! cinema is now a hair dressers i think and seconds ahead! woohoo....NOT!
Shrewsburys cineworld is the best!!!
local cinema bus 2 wrexham on a wednesday
The Marches School & Technology College start a calendar of community events from September 2004 to include film Shrek2 15th October and Calendar Girls 26th of November, Theatre - Nightmare 30th September, OMTC 26th October, The Snow Queen 2nd December, Ace Dance 2nd November, Music - Wrexham Brass Band 22nd October
the nearest is wrexham which is about 15 miles away
Thre cinema is now an abandoned building.STUNNING. Afraid your gonna have travel to Wrexham or Shrewsbury for that.
No cinema in oswestry. Nearest decent one is in Shrewsbury - Cineworld.
wrexham odeon ! too far to go
There is a cinema bus going to Wrexham Odeon.
None, an opportunity for a Multiplex...and a bowling alley too. Might actually keep some cash and jobs in the town, even if it was an out of town development (are you listening at the council ?)
Nearest cinema complex about 18 miles away, either Wrecsam or Shrewsbury.
Have to travel to Wrexham or Shrewsbury...
Regal Cimena. Closed - quite rightly, it cost £500 for a ticket to see a film. By the time it came out all the sequels, prequels, and spin offs had already been produced.
