Record Shops

  • harrys brik a brak second hand
  • Filey could do with a decent record shop. Safeways sells a few chart cds and videos, but thats about it, other than the odd osmand cd in dixons discount warehouse, which u could probably pick up for about £1
  • There aren't really any in Filey, I would recommend Scarborough.
  • safeway sells cd's butthey are 20 years out of date
  • The best one is located at the railway station. You have to wait on platform two for about 90 minutes and then catch a train to Scrborough - the rest is easy.
  • Frankie Dees ex-jukebox rack
  • Micks Giftshop.....Where everythings £1.20.
  • Nope ..nearest one is HMV at scarboro
  • Filey dont have CD's they still use 78's reconds on ancient wind up players
  • HMV as yet to break into North Yorkshire
  • There was one in Dixons twenty years ago. Who says we're behind the times

Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • THE ONLY PLACE TO GO TO LISTEN TO DECENT MUSIC IS BONHOMMES ON THE CRESCENT
  • Evron Centre
  • Top House (that's the Station Hotel to Comforts/Wessies/Grockles) have got Top Skiffle Band 'RAILROAD BILL' performing, Wednesday February 2nd (2005).
  • Whatever happened to the nightclub that opened up under the Belle Vue pub? It seems that a few of Filey's more..er..senior citizens had finally had enough of the local lager culture razzing it up outside the premises with their colourful language, pissing/pewking up in the gardens, as well as the constant shagging that went on in the town's numerous alleyways-in particular the one that leads down the side of The Star and comes out nicely by The Grapes (nice, cold and very dark).
  • belle vue is banging
  • The Belle View
  • The Belle View (If it's still there)
  • coble landing bar closest u get to a club
  • The grapes is pretty class. THIRD CLASS !!
  • you mean scarborough???
  • The Snooker Club has a nice welcoming atmosphere. Children are allowed in upt til 8 pm
  • Theres only one Belle Vue! Good job really. I remember the heady days of 1990, when you were greated by the greatest hits of the Little Angels (a band whose lead singer went to Filey School - he was from fucking Hunmanby though). If you were lucky you might get a bit of MC Hammer and Soul II Soul by 1.00 a.m.
  • well the Top House has had it now ... got stung by the brewery for not having aadequate fire provision and now it is closed
  • Dont need clubs as most of the pubs stay open till the last person leaves and some even serve breakfast in the summer with your pint !!!
  • The Belle vue is no longer a night club because it lost its license due to a certain miserable old git who complained of noise at 2am in the morning. And then moaned when his beloved BMW was found covered in paint shortly after and had his story in the local press
  • Downstairs in the Belle Vue. Not if you suffer from attacks of paranoia though, 'cos all the mirrors make eye contact with pissed-up nutters inevitable.
  • No 12 (near edwins)
  • Erm.. Belle Vue!
  • THE GRAPES IS PRETTY CLASS
  • Alabamas
  • The Belle Vue club is open about 2 weekends a year, upstairs is the pub and downstairs (literally down a ladder) is the club. Fun when everone is pissed and falls off the ladder onto the dancefloor which is embarrasingly small, swinging cats isnt possible but the floor is surrounded by mirrors to make it look bigger!!!
  • none (I have to travel 76 miles to get to the nearest decent club)
  • The Belle Vue

Live Music Venues

  • BONHOMMES ON THE CRESCENT EXCELLENT MUSIC
  • Top House (that's the Station Hotel to Comforts/Wessies/Grockles) have got Top Skiffle Band 'RAILROAD BILL' performing, Wednesday February 2nd (2005).
  • dixons discount ware house top quality
  • star
  • The two that spring to mind are The Grapes, Top House and occasionally The Crown. Whats wrong with The Grapes? Yeah the acts are a bit cheesy but the pub itself whilst small is nicely done out. The Top House is granted in need of some TLC but the landlord Tush is a great guy, and the pub seems to be a favourite with the locals for the late nite boozing. As for The Crown, I used to like it in there.Paul the landlord is alright, acomplete piss artist and thinks the words closing time is a filthy swear word. It shuts when everyone has fallen over either from drinking or fighting, which the landlady Josie is an undiscovered talent at.
  • most pubs at weekends
  • THE CROWN HOTEL.See the mighty Codgers rock band every Saturday.
  • that toni marie at the local pubs is great but watch out for her comitting benefit fraud!!!!!
  • İ went to Filey recently and went for a pınt ın the Statıon A band called the Codgers were playıng Pretty good stayed for the whole set
  • CARRY...OK.THE SAME OLD PEOPLE WHO COULDNT HOLD A NOTE IN A PAIR OF MOLE GRIPS PATTING EACH OTHER ON THE BACK AFTER EACH TUNELESS RENDITION.BRAD,IS NOT NEIL DIAMOND,IN SPITE OF WHAT THEIR LASS SAYS.
  • Grapes and Foords with big adie he really keeeps Queen street buzzing
  • its winter there isnt any now
  • Any of the pubs on summer weekends, God help us.
  • A "nice boy" plays in Crescent Gardens during the summer months
  • Only the bandstand in Crescent Gardens offers any musical contribution..mind you the audience are those who have just been shopping for their clothes nearby
  • Adrian Lee .. go and see big adie .. preforms in the Foords and other pubs.. he is a rioot and doesnt care who he offends
  • You get some banging brass bands in the Crescent Gardens during the summer. Filey's biggest gig was probably the infamous 'Retaliator' in the Three Tuns car park. Says it all really.
  • No 12 (near edwins)
  • STATION HOTEL.THE ONLY PLACE IN TOWN TO CATCH THE MIGHTY CODGERS,THE AREAS No.1
  • THE FFORDS IN THE SUMMER WHEN THEY HAVE DOWNTOWN TRAFFIC ON
  • The Foords (If you like Karoke)
  • The Belle Vue, The Foords

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Filey. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Filey.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
