Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
Goody 2 Shoes (Quality Goods 4 Rock bottom Prices)
dixons discount ware house top quality
charity shops
John street - brooklyn and in design sell some decent stuff. In design can b pricey though. Scorpio sells some decent hoodies and kids clothes, but otherwise, hit the scarborough sales. Most of the clothes in filey have been bought several times over since the 1940s, when someone donated them 2 the charity shop for the first, but not the last time. Elvis is the best customer in such shops.
Not many.... just the local charity shops housing everyones favourite Granny dresses. Mmmm. Not good.
well one of them has improved its frontage but has incereased the price ten fold .. who would pay £40 for a cardi certainly not the folk who live here in filey. However the divi family still look like stepoes rejects with their clothing
The Big man shop in Bellvue Street is worth a visit for larger gentlemen.
That one with the yellow film on the windows, Cairncross-dressers, In fact go to Scarborough or York if you want clothes.
well if you like hesian and full lenth coats and dresses then you wil like filey attire which is locally made here
great if you like the roaring 20's for the lastest up to date gear
Well if you are 90 then the fashions in Filey will suit you down to the ground ...literally
If you are over 75yrs of age and dont mind what you wear there are a few on JOhn street and belle vue street that cater for demented geriatrics with no cloth sense
GO and see "Bungle Jeff" at Hoppotch or Brooklynn on Joohn street were you will receive a lovely cheesy grin as you spend your hard earned dosh here !!
Only buy clothes in Filey if you've no respect for your appearance whatsoever.
There are a couple of interesting shops which cater for the older person. So if your names Ethel or Doris, then game on. Otherwise, goto Scarborough.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
Try the local "cockney" now into brewing famous wines for the more deserving palettes in filey. (paint palettes!!) One sip and it strips away many a years coating of paint from your front door!!!
well edwardian week was yet another successful week long of tourist coming to watch the locals dress up in old tat !!!
Plenty of arts and crafts can be seen at the regular Art Exhibitions on John Street. Craft Stalls in abundance on the Crafts Market on the Crescent during the Edwardian Festival.
Theres lots of funny shops like this at the bottom of Belle Vue Street. I've never seen one open though.
A few very tacky shell shops n Murray Street thats all. Filey folk wouldnt recognise good culture if it jumped up and bit them
Nice shell shops selling trinkets to wezzies and demented geriatrics who live here
All those shops I mention are (or were)on Belle Vue Street, not Southdene. The braincells storing this info have been blasted away ...
A street called Southdene is the place - two shops next to each other called Beachcomber & G.H. Brown, and one across the road I think called Discovery which sold an astonishing range of crap. All of these have since changed hands and names too, I think, but the bottom-end of Belle Vue Street still retains its inspirational aura of seashell-based artistic eclecticism.
Few shops selling pretty shells. But otherwise, no.
occasional exhibitions in the town hall
beachcomber
Magazine and Comic Shops
sight and sound a delightful shop.one old rocker ,one tattooed beast and a minger serves .you will either be greeted by a grunt or some smut.ladies beware the latter is usually given.good selection of dvds videos ect but the staff something from the adams family.
There are a few, the one across from that stupid coffee place is ok
Smarts on Scarborough Road. I used to work there but then I think everyone in Filey has worked for Ralphie. Does anyone remember Danbys?
most shops stock the beano and dandy cos most folk here are still illiterate
Plenty of "men" books available on the top shelf in Smarts ..pity the men in filey are so small
top shelf in Smarts caters for most mens needs
Smarts. It's got shitloads of porn mags in there, a reflection perhaps of the good citizens of Filey. Not that I've ever bought one from there, like ...
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
