Favourite Building
Bunjy-jumping Jesus, as my mate calls it - the catholic church with the HUGE tower and the son of god poised to leap off the top, on Lewisham high st
Wonderful 1900-ish houses on Loampit Hill & Lewisham Way. Some of them painted silly colours.
The art deco building on ladywell bridge, I think it's a glue factory or seomthing.
southeast london college lewisham way
The main building of Goldsmiths College on Lewisham Way.
The Lewisham Clock Tower, the Co-op building (Yates') and Lewisham Theatre.
The 'Hansel and Gretal' House on New Cross road. Its called that cos its a
colourful house - anyone who has passed it will know it.
Citibank - because although it dont look that good, its probably the most famous
thing in Lewisham. Hugh Grant mentioned it on the radio (capital) once (maybe
he lives in Lewisham).
Also the catford cat. Did his arm used to move in the eighties? I thought it
did but everyone seems to think different.
Demolish It Now Building
The Venue
MFI and that carpet shed at the end of Loampit Vale near the station - souless, ugly, depressing buildings that bore the hell out of me every day when I walk past them. Wouldn't shed a tear if someone nuked McDonalds either.
St Joseph' school
that strange lump of rocks on the roundabout and knock down Catford while youre at it !!!!. Ladywell Police station.
Any of the tower blocks in the North of the Borough.
Eros house
Citibank - its not that nice looking.
Burger King/Macs - then there would be less police signs saying someone was
seriousley injuryed at 11pm etc.
The Best Things
Good transport - lots of night bus services to Lewisham, DLR, trains to Charing X in half an hour etc
Sheels pharmacy/health food shop. If you are into complementary medicine or health foods this is a great place. If they don't stock it, just ask they'll get it. If you want unconventional advice from a pharmacist this is the place; they can advice on homeopathic remedies if you do not use conventional drugs and remedies.
Independent publishers, The Do-Not Press (http://www.thedonotpress.co.uk) home of Ken Bruen, Bill James, John B Spencer and Russell James are based in Lewsisham.
THE BEST THING ABOUT LEWISHAM IS THE ROAD COMING OUT OF IT
Over 100 ways to get into town & back home by public transport. Trains to VLondon Bridge (12 minutes), Waterloo, Charing Cross and Victoria, also DLR + East London Line + Jubilee Line, also 6 night busses an hour, all night, every night. If you live in Lewisham & you go out at all you end up seeing a lot of Trafalgar Square.
My local pub has regulars from (roughly in order) Ireland, Jamaica, England Barbados, Turkey (both Turks and Kurds), Nigeria, Guyana, Grenada, Trinidad, India, Pakistan, Sweden, Sri Lanka, Scotland, Wales, Cornwall, the USA, France, Canada, Germany and Lithuania and probably other places. Brilliant!
Not coming from North London
THE FORDHAM PARK URBAN FREE FESTIVAL !!!! BRING IT BACK !!!!
The black cat over the catford centre
The relaxed approach to life in a lively part of Sarf Eest Landan.
Plenty of buses.
The Worst Things
All the bloody students
Too much traffic
The rounabout in the town centre. It has causes drivers to lose common sense and the ability to negotiate a busy roundabout. Badly designed it’s a nightmare for pedestrians as well as motorists and cyclists. Grate if you need an innovative method to commit suicide.
Cars everywhere. Total traffic jam 3 or 4 hours a week.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Lewisham.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
