Sports Clubs and Facilities
harlow pool, harlow sports centre and esporta
Quite a lot but run down
Local sports centre
my family are all into rugby, and Harlow rugby club's youth section is fantastic, and the boys down there really know how to enjoy themselves, i have seen some stuff let me tell you.
harlow is incredibly sports orientated actually! Astro turfs, rugby pitches (near the fiat garage), cricket pitches (bit further up than the ruby pitches) golf course (right up near the pinnicales) two sports centres, the local council pool (watersides have been out of use for bout ten years due to some little darling sticking razor blades n rusty nails inside the flumes!)
Harlow is essentially a football town and there are plenty of clubs to join if you want to. If you like to swim then dont bother going to the town pool. Its probably safer to swim at Southend!
Harlow Cricket Club has probably the best pitches in town but it is located in Old Harlow. Sort CC has a three nets at Ashtree field which is handy for practice and they are a freindly bunch of people and make you welcome.
Warrens guide to sport will involve the harlow windmill where men and women alike take part in a new kind of martial art which involves flailing arms and legs in every direction until someone falls over or someone fouls you with a beer bottle or other intrument, usually a harlow lady in tk maxx clothing
Harlow FC is a semi-good non league team. Harlow rugby club is one league away from the nationals. There's a good running club, sports centre and swimming pool which are being alowed to rot so they can be pulled down and replaced with more unafordable houses
Hackers Indoor Golf - great facility for improving your swing, cutting strokes off your short game, and having loads of fun playing a range of courses on their golf simulators. The people are friendly and it's a great place to meet new people who share your love of the game. Very casual and great hours.
If you like bowls or cricket then you're fine. Boxing however is a completely different matter
Swimming pool which is probably going to be closed soon. Local football club (last time I looked). Rugby club who are trying to sell their own ground so houses can be built on it. Golf club which supplies some passable mountain bike jumps, though they'll swear at you. swear back and escape down the river to tje pub in Eastwick.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide.
