  • Plenty of takeaways which are quite good, these are run by Indian people whoare ver friendly towards their customers.
  • Thawleys, 100 station road has opened their kitchen, great value and good food, give it a try i did and was impressed
  • flyin pizza is good

Pubs

  • Lots of pubs in Wombwell i dont recommend them because there always full unless you go into the valley
  • After being away from Wombwell for a few years, I came back with my girlfriend at Xmas and met a couple of old mates there who also haven't been back to Wombwell for a while, and we decided to meet in The Alma. Oh my God! I thought I'd never make it out alive! The best way I can describe the feeling was like, as if you'd gone to a safari park, got out of the car, it had driven off and left you trapped in with the wild animals, and across the way there's a lion looking at you as though you're dinner. All the scum of the entire town was there all at once. There were women in there with black eyes and tattoos all over their horrible hairy arms! Everyone looked at us as if we were martians just because they didn't know us. Every bloke looked like at least one of his parents was an orang utan, and the women - Jesus! The same cheap nasty perms, too much make up, horrible gold sparkly clothes from the Top Market (or Oxfam) and rough horrible squeaky voices that sounded like someone scraping their nails down a blackboard. Funniest was the day after when we were watching Star Wars at home - you know the bit where they go to the cantina and Obiwan says "Ah, Mos Eisley spaceport - you will never find a more wretched hive of scum and villany," my girlfriend piped up "Oh yes you will!" I don't think she'll ever get over it.
  • every fucking ones brill even t legion
  • Ship pub
  • The BBC Natural History Unit is being called to survey the pubs of Wombwell on a Saturday night after multiple sightings of creatures resembling Cro-Magnon Man, thought to have become extinct millions of years ago. These poor animals can be easily identified by their shaved head, protruding eyebrow ridge, hunched stance and strange dialect which consists mainly of words like "arr", or "reigh'". Both words can have a wide variety of meanings depending on the tone of voice when used. Some of these poor creatures have even been witnessed having entire conversations lasting an entire evening whilst only using eight actual words. Quite impressive actually. Orb
  • the horseshoe as now been done up by weatherspoons
  • The pubs are full of rough locals, you want to fight anybody after 20.00pm. By this time most locals are pissed up.
  • There are about five pubs, which get full at the weekends, but most of them are the same faces week after week, nobody stimulating. Most of the people on a night out in Wombwell are workclass people, and a hugh percentage of them work in the local factories. So the pubs are filled by people who are not that special.
  • Thawleys, 110 Station Road Give it a try, you may be surprised, country & western Fridays Karaoke Saturdays Quiz Sundays good value beer
  • For the best of wombwell entertainment go to the royal oak for the best fights
  • Squires bar for a taste of Yates Wine Lodge, and Lockys for the best pint.
  • The Alma has been done out and is now really spacious. It often has a lock in! I have left Wombwell now, but returned recently and yes, I saw people who had been in Wombwell since my childhood. It is a pretty insular place I'm afraid...
  • The Horseshoe was an ace hang out when I was, erm, 'young looking', shall we say? One xmas the massive xmas tree got pulled over and the was a massive scrap on the dancefloor, about 1987?. My mate Ian Grummet had to crawl through the serving hatch to the 'quiet side' to escape. Also I used to work in Pegotty's on the high street, which didn't last long!

Cafes and Coffee Shops

  • lots of cofe shops such as toenail and doreens!!!!!!!!!

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Wombwell. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Wombwell.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
