Record Shops
If you want records you have to go to Barnsley.
The record shop was called Ace Music (Casa Disco was in Barnsley), it closed around 1982. The best place for records in Wombwell though was Johns stall on the bottom market, every Saturday from the mid 70's to the early 80's. Paul White used to help him out.
Not true, Wombwell used to have at least one proper record shop when I was young(er) It was called Casa Disco, down Station lane.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Theres lots of pubs in Wombwell and loads of clubs in Barnsley
reform was the place to be also number 7
The clubs are full of loud local people on Thursday, Friday, Saturday nights and during Sunday lunchtime, the majority of people within these oubs are common and rough. To justify my statement, the Barnsley Chronicle Newspaper prints stories almost every month, about brawls within the local Wombwell town centre pubs on a weekend, and the Weatherspoons pubs, issued a statement asking the locals to stop swearing within their pub because it is putting customers off, in truth very few locals can conduct themself's in public places.
nO CLUBS IN THIS TOWN, BUT SOME OF THE PUBS STAY OPEN UNTIL AFTER 12.00PM,
BUT THESE PUBS ARE FILLED WITH COMMON LOCALS, WHO ARE ROUGH AND LOOK IT.
no clubs but there are lots of pubs go on fridays!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Live Music Venues
Lots of musical people in wombwell but most people play in barnsley
reform
The Reform (RIP). Paragon and Dark Horse played at the High School in 1980 as well, although not on the sane bill.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
