Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • not that i know of!
  • In 2002 the infamous Cheekies nightspot in Minehead renamed itself the Attic (known as the Attack in Porlock) and New York New York became Maddisons, a sports bar. The Wellington Hotel at the opposite end of Minehead from NYNY opened a new club - Dukes, in December 2002 and reports are so far mixed.
  • Well weve just got 3 pubs we are all alrite, the castle, the ship and the royal oak
  • The castle is the only decent pub with some signs of life in it!
  • Entertainment: What about New York, New York? - a new night club down by the front @ Minehead.
  • Clubs? Hardly. You need to go to Minehead to sample the delights of Cheeky`s Nitespot (Tip: Don`t bother!!!)

Live Music Venues

  • Either try the club in the Wellie called Dukes or for some live music of differing standards try the York in the Avenue.
  • Folk Music is on at the Bottom Ship Inn 1st friday of every month be there or be square ( not bad either )

Cinemas

  • nope
  • lynton cinema , much better than crappy butlitz, a real old fashioned jive
  • Butlins in Minehead is now letting people in without having to buy a day pass - whoppee! A cinema also opened in Lynton recently, it's supposed to be small (ie. not the Odean at Marble Arch!) but is probably really nice coz and includes a lovely drive across the moors before and after, OK on a warm summer evening.
  • There aint none!!!!!!!!!!!11
  • Cinema @ Butlins (Minehead): Please sign the petition cos Butlins won't let anyone in unless they buy a day pass, some cinema eh?
  • The nearest cinema is now in Somerwest World (Butlins to you and me).

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Porlock. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Porlock.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
