Favourite Building
public toilets, market st. the only public toilets with an attendant i know of outside london. Hence they are very clean and safe.
The Phoenix Social Club - Home of Droylsden Football Club
The Royal Oak hotel!
St Mary's Church
The Concorde Suite
Demolish It Now Building
Concorde Suite - for crying out loud - couldn't we have something a little more modern for the centre of our little town? Mind you, would anyone notice, because there is so much obstructing one's view of it anyway!!
The old co-op building on edge lane. It has been empty for years and just attracts vandals.
The whole of it! - Start again.
Fairfield housing Estate
Swimming Baths
The Best Things
It's close to everywhere but not too close. The metro will be coming through in the next couple of years - accessability will improve.
it is a decent area with decent people and good civic ammenities.
Droylsden Branch of the Manchester Citys supporters club!
Moravian Settlement, where the filming of Sherlock Holmes took place among other
period dramas; friendly folk; cheap shopping
The Worst Things
It looks shabby. Like it doesn't have a council taking care of it. There is no decent community centre, which would help bind us Droylsdenians together.
The state of the roads. Pot-holes every where.
Poor to non-existent youth clubs.
The influx of the 'under-class' since the building of the commonwealth stadium up the road. Thanks!
There has been an awful lot of street robberies in Droylsden recently, but this seems to be a trend in the Manchester area at the moment. Also there have been several Armed robberies in the Area recently.
Not enough facilities for kids/teenagers.
Not enough action - even though pubs abound! Council neglects play areas for our young ones;
there isn't much to do in Droylsden :-<
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
