Food
The best value for money food at average prices has to be the The York House Inn in the Main Street.
Golden house, pinocchios
Paula's Cafe, This makes a Greasy Spoon Joint look healthy
Minehead has loads of places to eat, my advice is avoid the mainstream, not that its bad, just expensive - the Tandoori in Alcome (1/4 mile out of minehead) is your best bet, good food, friendly staff, reasonable prices
Alcombe Tandoori- (The BEST!), Good Food Inn, The Carlton, The Strand
Pubs
The good old Carlton is now closed and awaiting the bulldozers to go in to make way for old folk flats. The last night party started at 7pm on Friday and ended sometime on sunday ?????? What day is it now It now looks like the Carlton crowd have moved on down towards the sea front and are either using a park bench or the Red Lion Pub
hobby horse brill meals better than butlins crap
the Welli can be ok but you always see people who are 5 years yonger than you in there and that doesnt help when you, yourself are only 18.
On Camp: All are far too expensive, at £2.80 a pint. You need to re-mortgage a house to get pissed!
Off Camp: Minehead Football club is a bit dingy, but it serves cheap drink and if you go with a good crowd, it's a good laugh.
The York is Ok, if you are over 60.
The Hairy Dog has recently been refurbished, and looks pretty good, with average prices. They have a wide range of shots... like Absinth.
The Red Lion serves cheap drinks and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
The Queens is not too bad, the food isn't too great, but it's ok (ish). They've got 3 pool tables and a good jukebox.
The Welly (the Wellington Hotel Bar) is pretty good (for Minehead standards). Good karaoke, but the guy who runs it tends only to let the "good" singers have a go, which takes the fun out of it a bit.
I would just like to say me and my wife went to the RED LOIN PUBLIC HOUSE MINEHEAD SOMMSET last week i would like to say how friendly it was with the owers and the public they made all very welcome the beer was good, and the people
we got on very well with i would like to see more PUBS like this.and i would like to thank the staff also working there. If you go to minehead look the RED LOIN UP there is no where better i can say.
The wellie, the attic, the york, carlton just about open, the hairy dog is being refurbished and the usual down towards the harbour
'The Red Lion' - dead cheap and dead comfy, with nice sofas and stuff like you're in someones living room and its never too busy. Other than that, all the bars in Butlins are alright,'the swinging shleigh' has kareoke, traditional irish kinda thing.
The Queens Head is a must when going for a drinking
session, cool jukebox and pool tables, the barstaff are not as good as they used
to be though, does anyone remember Lindsey,Gareth,Kathrine,Cam,Brian(the gay one)and Kerry?
The Red Lion, small but cosy, nice lounge area and the drink is dead cheap!!!
They're practically giving it away.
Queen's, Welly and the York are the best pubs to go to.
The Hairy Dog is the best place in town to meet if you have kids. There is a superb play area for the ankle biters round the back, while the adults can enjoy a drink (they even serve COFFEE!!!) and get down to some adult chat.
Hairy Dog Main ST. Good Food, Cheaper Beer after 5.00pm Good Atmosphere Good place to take the kids.
The Welly is a great pub located at the top of the town. It has Kareoke a few times a week which always gets the piss heads going.
The Queens Head is another of my favourites, whereas I consider the Carlton shit. The York is a good pub too, with live music every week and quiz nights.
The Queens and The Brittania are real pubs not Grockle Gin Palaces like the others
Queens, Brit, Welly, Hobby horse, york, Hairy dog, ship aground, red lion
you name it, theres loads here - but then what else is there to do in Minehead
The York House Inn. Nice pub. Clean and avarage prices for beer and food.
Minehead is not short of these, the Ship Aground is a nice old fashioned local, The Wellington Hotel (Welly) is quite busy in the winter months during the week.
Alcombe Village Hall ( W I D E screen T.V, Stella £1.82,real ale £1.36, Pool, Snooker, relaxed atmosphere - Membership £3 p.a.
