The Best Things

  • If you have friends in Ashton they will be a mate for life. The atmosphere is quality as well. And the donner kebabs from Ashton kebab house.
  • people, late drinking, good food outlets, good for a session, mixed fan base of football fans so always some freindly banter going on in the cross keys and robin hood between fans, they also show live premier league games on saturdays in the cross keys with cheap beer to wash it down with! wot more can one ask for.haydock races only a ten minute walk from town centre.
  • the m6 isn't too far away
  • Ashton benefits from being next door to Newton le Willows and Earlestown
  • Cansfield High School really is the best school in Ashton, it has the best facilities for swimming and has some of the greatest teachers that you are ever likely to meet.
  • Lots of good Pubs, eating places, Nice people. Quiet town but easy to get into Liverpool or Manchester for some "real life"
  • Its near my house and possible to have a cheap night out with friends.
  • warrington road way home
  • lots of pubs
  • beer
  • Real ashtoners dont have a stupid wigan accent
  • Cansfield High School! The Rugby Team who play at Bryn REC every Saturday and then go back to the Beer Hive so go support them! The bar staff at the Beer Hive - Sarah, Gemma, Divina and Nick. The nice, friendly, accepting poeple!
  • the abundance of pretty women with at least 3 to 4 sisters
  • Not being Wiganer enough to get called a pie eater but but being close enough to call (the mighty, mighty)Wigan Athletic your local football team.

The Worst Things

  • people, the odd dodgy pint of lager now and again, the red lion pub(always a dodgy pint of lager in that place) stubshaw cross and bryn are nearby which is a bit off a shame but we all have our cross's to bear. the pavements could do with renewing as they can become an obsticle when walking home steaming at night trying to balance your kebeb in one hand and your pizza in the other(nowt worse than dropping your pizza face down in the road)
  • BRITISH RAIL STINKS! A JOURNEY TO BRYN WAS AN ABSOLUTE NIGHTMARE!!! AN ENJOYABLE EVENING WAS RUINRED BY EXTREMELY BAD TRANSPORT. PS if you're 13-16 yrs old, enjoy drinking cheap shitty lager and alchopops smashing a few bottles and generally acting stooopid - Bryn railway station is for you !! Bring yer fiends"" I'll bringa a bottle !! ENJOY !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
  • Traffic, no rail link, Haydock Park racegoers throwing up after the Races.
  • When Haydock races is on and the Place floods out with cockney nobs. who decide to trash everywhere
  • walking 2 miles down warrington road when your sloshed
  • lots of drunks
  • not enough shoe shops or clothes shops
  • ASHTON DOESN'T SELL MUCH ONLY FOOD.
  • when theres no beer
  • The way that the kids mess up the parks,
  • the traffic fullof half witted kwik save lorry drivers
  • lack of identity. when i went to college, half the people from warringto and st.helens thought ii was from ashton-under-lyne.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
