Favourite Building

• nah
• Church. its cold but holy huhuhu butt hole.
• penistone church is the best part of the town with all the history with in the church it slef have a look at the church records you find them verey intresting
• The viaduct which isnt actually a building.
• The church is very old and looks great at the top of the hill like it is. Although some idiots smashed the windows a while back so it's now got big security windows.
• The only really fine building is Penistone Church, which goes back before the twelth century but is mostly obscured by trees. A fine building, none the less.

Demolish It Now Building

• The bus shelter opposite the church, where would all the underage drinkers go then?

• Police station yeh
• SPAR... The town is built with rural characters with victorian and medi-evil aspects then there is a great big ugly box right in the middle of the town centre screaming SPAR plus its overpriced and right next to the co-op which is WAY cheaper!!!
• every building except K block at Penistone Grammar school should be demolished!
• The penistone grammar sixth form, it is a mess and i have to go there everyday, BUILD US A NEW SIXTH FORM!!
• The science block for the Grammar School really must go... it stands out a mile and the attempt to 'blend' the bridge with nature by painting it snotty green really didn't work at all...
• That scrubber estate where all the roughnecks live.

The Best Things

• the best thing about penistone is the people decent people most of them

• It sometimes snows so bad its cutt of from the rest of the world resulting in NO college no school and no work. Fantastic. The breifly short summer.
• the sh*t public transport which is the gateway to sheffield.
• How is it that nobody has mentioned Penistone Show, one of the biggest in the area? The second Saturday in September and always a good 'un.
• named after a group of swingers back in the 60's
• Lots of lovely walks all around Penistone, the old railway line is now a walking / cycle track, which is now part of the Pennine Trail.
• Waddy's on Green Rd...well kind of, Chippy Jeff's - not the sponser of Sheffield Wednesday! (that's Chupa Chups)
• its a lovey town and fast growing the town is full of history and the locols are all frindley and kind to help you in any way.
• The fact that locals are oblivious to the fact that they live in a town with 'Penis' in the tile - Penistone, which incidentally is on the same railway line as WOMBwell - sexually depraved tyke trainspotters and all.
• The wide range of chippies. And pubs. It's got some good history such as the great big viaduct collapsing with a train on disaster type thing.
• The White Hart on a lazy Sunday afternoon. Penistone people are a bit scatty in a Yorkshire sort of way but generally OK and friendly. Everybody knows everybody.

The Worst Things

• stay away from the penistone town elite there very violant get on the wrong side of them and it wont be pleasant

• all the little scally kids, Nightlife is slim to non. there is only a bus into sheffield every 2 hours and the bus takes about 40mins to travel exactly 13miles also charging now £2 (not so good for the likes of us student type)the close relation with Barnsley its a horrific place so why be associated with it? When Penistone got transferd from Sheffield City Council to Barnsley Council. alot of the inbreds from barnsley have moved into the town. The fact that dispite living here for the past 18 years I still cant understand the locals. Half the Kids are illiterate rude and just generally vile. only 50% get a decent amount of GCSE's. EVERYTHING IS UP HILL. You gotta go up hill to go to 6thform you gotta go up hill to get back home again. its just ALL UP HILL. to go to the pub/work you gotta go up and down and up hills HILLS HILLS AND MORE HILLS!!! oh and it RAINS it hardly snows now but IT RAINS and RAINS and RAINS I mean the skate park will of rotted away time june!!! ITS STUPIDLY WINDY! the skate park is built in a really open area so in the winter you get blown of your bike/board (yes the wind is that strong) THe summers are shorter than every1 were else in the country. When you have been in sheffield all day you will come back home and its about 10C colder so if you imagine a nice warm sunny day in sheffield around 20C (nice t-shirt weather) you get back to penistone and your feezing your ass off.
• all the little scallies who hang around the bus station, train station, outside the spar, and underneath the ramps at the skatepark who have nother better to do than act smart shout abuse and pester the 18+ to go buy them alcohol.
• Bored (and illiterate) kids smash up the railway station waiting room windows and leave rubbish all over. Yet more dogmuck on the pavements.
• Dog muck all over. Local kids have a lot of trouble reading, writing and spelling properly.
• Its so busy you cant walk through without 1 near death experience, the traffic on the high street is horrendous.
• The local youth club since the new leaders took over its crap. BRING BACK WENDY!!!!!!
• Grammar School...
• the goddamn public transport, tell me why does it take 45mins to get to sheffield, a mere 15miles away on the train???
• wether near christmas as you can soon grt cut off by snow
• Dog poo on the pavements, every ten yards or so, more on sundays.
• The town being known as 'penis town' by everyone bar the locals.
• No real night life (such as clubs). Cinema tends to get films about 3 months after the rest of the country. People make fun of the name. There are many-a vandalised sign about.
• A local councillor, shall we call her Mrs. Bouquet (not her real name), has had a horse-trough turned into a wishing well, so they can have an annual well-dressing ceremony. Tacky! Everybody knows everybody.
