The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else

  • Hammersmith is a seriously shabby place that needs a major clean up in many ways,
  • There is a book called SUNDOG ( can't remember the author ) but it is actually set in Brook Green in the Deli called Sutherlands.
  • can someone tell me if the bench featured on the credits of bottom really exists?
  • St Simon's C of E Church. Its the spire you can see from Shepherds Bush Green - a pretty diverse crowd on Sundays at 10.30sm. Nice music - good people - all welcome.
  • Fulham Brass Band rehearse at Chiswick Club Society, Chiswick High Road, London W4 (nearest tube is Stamford Brook on District Line) on Thursdays from 7.45 to 10pm approx. Currently experiencing period of growth and have quite a busy diary for the forthcoming months. In 2001 have already played at Duke's Meadow Bandstand, Golders Hill Park (NW11) and the Oxford v. Cambridge Boat Race.
  • Hammersmith is a rough tough area. Its really just a through stop on other points east and west.
  • Fulham Football Club are shortly to dominate British, European and World football. Shame its Al Fayeds money, mind.
  • Those who want a more 'stimulating' time should try Secrets. Its a topless dancers/lapdancing joint. It's along the road that runs behind Kings Mall. Very heavily guarded by enormous bouncers, so no messing them around if you're under 21!
  • Walks - Fulham Palace gardens is very nice when the sun is out! Walk along the river from Hammersmith Bridge to Bishops Park (Putney Bridge) They filmed part of the Omen in the church by Bishops Park
  • We proud people of Fulham don't want to be mucked in with the Hammermsith lot - when our two Boroughs were amalgamated they even tried to diddle us out of our illustrious name! We even have our own brewery - Freedom in Parsons Green.
  • Christchurch (C of E) Church, Studdridge Street. Services, each Sunday, are at 10.30am and 6.30pm. There's plenty for all age groups, and its a good, friendly, close-knit community!
  • The Fulham Band: Rehearsals Thursdays 7.30pm, The Music Box, Hammersmith Road
  • Oxford-Cambridge Boat race: a good time to be somewhere other than at the Thames near Hammersmith Bridge.
  • Lots of trade fairs, Ideal Home exhibition etc at the same place.
  • Beer festival at Olympia in August.
  • Cosmic Comedy Club on Fulham Palace Road. Good on a Friday or Saturday night.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Hammersmith. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Hammersmith.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
