Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars

  • The Crow Bar on Shuttle St, Paisley is the towns only live rock music venue also has pool tables, free internet and the best free jukebox in Paisley give it a go you won't be disapointed.
  • Furys in Paisley very studenty, but £1 a drink on Sunday and Thursday nights can't be too bad! Music is pretty cheezy but its the stuff you love when your drunk. Viennas - older crowd but more space, dancy upstairs and cheesy downstairs, it's good fun. Tuesdays and Wednesday nights are class!! Base - New club, looks great inside, time will tell how good it gets though! Suburbia - Pub, but shuts at 2 on a saturday night. Three pubs in one, karaoke Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. Pole dancing competition on a Thursday night Great atmosphere, always meet loads of people you know. Dance music in The Edge pub means you dont have to leave to go to the dancing if you fancy a cheap/early night. Flaunt - If you want to meet clientelle of the younger variety this is the place to go!
  • Fury Murray's has been the only place for semi-normal twentysomethings to go to for the past five years or so, howver there is still the occassional ned or two in there. Only go there if you've had a few drinks before hand and can't be bothered getting a taxi to Glasgow.
  • Vienna's in New St, formally Club 30, Toledo etc.. Probably busiest dancing in Paisley. 3 levels. Cheese/80's bottom floor for the 30+, Middle floor - bouncy/dancy for the younger trendy crowd. Top floor small quiter r+b bar.Fury's is still going strong.
  • I RECON THE ANCHOR BAR IN PAISLEY ACCROSS FROM MILL STREET IT THE BEST PUB, ITS FULL OF ALL AGES, FROM YOUNG PPL TO OLDIES! THEY HAVE A KARAOKE ON EVERY SAT NIGHT WHICH IS A LAUGH AND ITS ALWAYS MOBBED! YOU SHOULD TRY IT!
  • the cotton club used to be all right, is it still there?
  • Cant beleive no-one has mentioned club 69, undoubtably THE best underground dance club Paisley, especially foresight and rub-a-dub, going now for 7 years and known by DJ's everywhere, from scotland to Detroit. It is for those that are into dancing getting sweaty and jumping to anything that is different and musically technical. Guarantees a night of no-hassle, no-fighting .. just luv xx
  • c pubs
  • I canny believe nabuddy has mentioned CLUB 69 aka Rocksy's Basement. This truly underground club hides itself under th Koh-I-Noor Indian restuarant, in prolly one of the most dark and inhospistable streets in Paisley. Don't worry yerself though, it is attended by some of the finest characters yer ever likely to meet, and also some of the worlds finest performers. This venue/club has a worldwide following and for my money is the best club in Scotland if not the UK, its sweat stained walls tell the tales of a thousand strobe induced spasms. The atmosphere is second to none, cold yet warm damp yet dry, quite yet noisy, dark yet light. I can't put into words just how amazing this club is, go to it any saturday night when the Rub-A-Dub boys are playing and you will see, your eyes will open, leave ALL pretensions at the door and prepare to shake yer ass, 1989 stylee.
  • Ba Soba, Mankies
  • Monty's Leisure Club, Stock Street,PAISLEY.Every Saturday night karaoke and dancing 9pm until 2am.Function Suite available for parties.Snooker and pool tables from 11am seven days a week.Bar snacks available(0141 887 8717)
  • Clubs in Paisley , Mannequins 2 formerly KA Ikon a bit dodgy at times with alot of under age clients but to make a profit these days you have turn a blind eye now and again hence why so many get it there Its okay music is mainly Trance, Hard House, House , club with the upstairs section playing 70's 80's and a mix of chart and Pop. Institute is a fantastic club size wise and the layout. but and But they just dont seem to pull in a crowd which is a shame as the music is usually spot on as well again a more trancier, progressive club tunes well this was the last time I ventured in. Fury Murrays in Paisley is the towns favoured nightspot but far too commercial for me cheesy pop and trainers dont go for a nightout so i will leave the students to party on with cheap vodka and cheese tunes.
  • archaos which is in glaesga but gd ygd #1#
  • Ikon ... one word ... dive! Fury Murry's ain't bad though!!
  • Friendly bouncers at Pravda? Didn't think so when five of them were bouncing up and down on my head!
  • Some of the clubs my pals now go to are :- Club30, and Fury Murrays
  • why has no one mentioned fury murrays, its the best place to go £5 to get in on a thursday night, less with a student card, the atmosphere is great, as is the talent and the music, oh and about club 30 (familliarly known as club slapper, look out, this is a meat market!) sorry if you like it, but its not my kinda place, pravda is ok, again good atmosphere, and friendly bouncers, perhaps a little too friendly if you know what i mean, good place for dancing, has a stage and podiums for the show offs like myself, icon (a nightclub? i thought it was a nursery school, the clientelle are barely out of nappies)
  • new place opened called Halo in Causeyside Street,Paisley, recently renamed Pravda in Bridge ST,{formerly Kasbah},
  • IKON-supposedly over 18s, but more 15 year olds than anything else
  • The Area nightclub is now called The Kasbah and is popular. Mannequins is now called IKON (russian theme niteclub) The best place (a matter of preference...) in my opinion is Club 30. Which caters for the over 25s (although if you are around 21 and behave yourself you are OK. Music ranges from 70s thru to 90s and a fun, unpretentious night out can be had. Women are all shapes, ages and sizes, with a surprisingly high number of babes!!!
  • Club 30 New Street .... over 25's .... DJ's mainstream music Carnegies New Sneddon Street ... part pub part club ... sister premises to mannequins DJ's on premises while open Kasbah .... formerly utopia and the area .... main night is Thursday when they have 70's night .... dead the rest of the week
  • Pub/club. The Bankhouse is a converted bank and puts on event co-ordinated with Rub-a-Dub records. It has a very friendly and busy atmosphere.
  • Mannequin's is a newly setup club on Old Sneddon Street with loads of DJs and acts booked often.
  • There is a club called the Area which has undergone a facelift so many times I've lost count. It also has an ever changing bar next door, now called Guinness Time.

Live Music Venues

  • Crow Bar is the coolest place to see all the best bands in Paisley' even better it's free. Thursday's from 9pm
  • The Crow Bar next to Furys Jokers
  • Armadillo in Glasgow
  • Paisley union
  • the black swan
  • In Paisley would have to be The Swan Inn, near Paisley then goto King Tuts Wah Wah Hut Bath street Glasgow
  • get the odd thing on at the Paisley Arts centre thats really no bad
  • Varsova (in the high street) has now realised that live music = lots of beer drank. there is another battle of the bands happening soon
  • Pailsey Arts Centre, Paisley Student Union, The Beer Cellar, Fiddler's Green, O'Neills - all have gigs at least once a week, usually more.

Cinemas

  • The Showcase cinema is good, if it qualifies as paisley, surely it must do by now as the suburbs have sprawled?
  • The cinema is good, you would not want to travel anywhere to see a movie.
  • always the kelburn pictures
  • Paisley has no cinema, but in Linwood you can goto Showcase but for the cost & hassle don't! Goto Glasgow!
  • Showcase in Linwood, no bad at all. multi plex.
  • showcase
  • linwood pheonix is gd i enjoy it
  • Kelburne picture hall where all the drunken teenagers took there birdson a friday night
  • Bowling about 10 mins walk towards Renfrew from Gilmour Street. Cinema at the Pheonix. You have to go to Glasgow for Quazar but is only 20 mins on number 9 bus or 10 on train.
  • has loads of bowling clubs all over the town who make you very welcome regardless of what foot you kick with
  • Hmmm its gone its all gone :(
  • Paisley's last cinema The Kelburne was stupidly demolished to make way for old peoples' flats and the new cinema complex is stupidly well out of town so that any family who wants to go has to fork out about a tenner in bus fares before they set foot in the door.
  • There was a cinema there, but they have seemed to have knocked it down now!!
  • Gx superbowl opposite Reid Kerr College, can shoot pool ,bowling obviously, burgers ,and chips, oh and a small bar .
  • There was a good one on Glasgow Road but it was shut and then "all of a sudden" was burnt down. Hmm.
  • The Phoenix estate. Impossible to get to if you don't drive.
  • Showcase Multiplex cinema at Linwood 10 screens good set up plenty of food places sprung up nearby

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Paisley. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Paisley.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
