Bicycle Shops, Bike Sales and Repairs

  • for ppl in paisley the uni has a mtn bike club running and they usually welcome new riders even if ur not a student (at least they did when my mate and i set it up)
  • Glasgow as there are no facilities in Paisley. However there are a lot of potential sites which are probably earmarked for housing.
  • The only good bike shop is Ride On Glasgow rd
  • The best place for bikes in Paisley is Thomsons Cycles. It is on Lawn Street just next to the Frasers car park. The guys in there really know their stuff. Especially the tall tanned guy with dark hair. Very cute indeed. He really knows his bmx stuff. Did I mention that he's really Hot!!!! So go there for all your cycling needs!!
  • Dooleys. Thomsons. That's it. Both good.
  • Thomson's Cycles in Lawn Street near the Abbey has a fat guy and a tall, friendly guy who seem to know it all, with the added bonus that they don't seem to rip you off. There are a couple of young bmxers who do crazy stuff, mainly when no-bodys looking. They sell all the usual stuff and have some cool kids' stuff too. There is another shop in town but they are pretty torn-faced.
  • Dooley's bike shop has been part of Paisley history for about fifty years and if that ever closes it will be very sad for the town.
  • theres a scooter place you pass by when you walk towards the reid kerr college, otherwise i dont know
  • Doolleys,Moss St.strictly person powered likewise Thomson cycles in Lawn Street, which might be as the Yanks would say more"radical"As regards, fuel burners, you aint gonna find any Indians or Harleys here.{sigh}Strictly, riceburners, made in Japan. The local motorcycle shop is \in Abercorn Street ,Theres also recently opened a scooter shop they do the groovy wee Twist and Go scooters and they are at 80 Glasgow Road Paisley.
  • Dooleys cycles in Moss st (Pedal Power)
  • Thomson's Cycles is run by a guy called Kenny Thomson who is always very helpful in getting you supplied with the bare essentials when you are a beginner at mountain biking. This is a very popular cycle shop which specialises in a large range of entry-level to professional mountain bikes. They also sell a small range of children's bikes with accessories. The also stock of many of the mountain biking accessories that are required and more. You can ask them to order virtually everything. The has a mountain biking club which you can join at a small fee. They organise a series of runs throughout the year and a race in the summer up the Braes (local hillside with a large amount of tracks and varied terrain). Membership of this club also entitles you to a 10% discount on most things including bikes and is variably depending on their mood and how persuasive you are.
  • There is a second cycle shop called Dooley's Cycles who supply a range of racing cycles as well as a few mountain bikes. Accessories here are a bit limited but can have a few good bargains for the beginner and have a large range of shades and biking shoes. The also have a cycling club called the Paisley Racing Team and one of their members is heavily involved in the professional mountain biking trials sometimes seen on TV.

BMX Trails, Street Spots

  • paisley is crap
  • Paisley has some good to ok spots to bmx in. There is an amaing wall rde which is situated down by the profile gym. Must see and do as they say in all tour guides. The council buildings hacve lots to offer, if you dont no how to get in to it, it can be a bummer however if you can find your way into it there is some amazing ledges for grinding or watever you might fancy. There is also many embankments for doing all sorts once again a must see. All throughtout the town there are many spots just look and see am sure you will find something good and oh yeah if you break something i well recommend going to thomosons to get repairs or replacements as it is the best bike shop in paisley, followed closely by halfords as the guys in there are pretty cool.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Paisley. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Paisley.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
