Favourite Building
The olg guildhall
The round house at West Looe. I used to live in it and it was haunted to the
core. Don't know if it still is.
Errrrm, nope, sorry. Can't think of one.
There are so many wonderful buildings in Looe that I couldn't possibly name a single favourite. Oh no wait a minute, there aren't. Probably the discovery centre at te millpool
The Bridge without it we could'nt get from East looe to West looe and back again!
Demolish It Now Building
Demolish the entire Barbican estate (pre 1970).
Sad that the Boscarn gets the vote to flatten. Yes it does look a bit like a working mens club( being Yorkshire we see lots of those) BUT the beer garden is lovely, overlooking the beach and the lager is always cold!
yep!
Any of them, take your pick...PLEASE?
The Admiral Boscarn - it's like the worst kind of working man's club!
The Boscarne, the biggest blot in Looe,What pupose does it serve?
The hideous Fish & Chip Shop next to Lloyds bank, horrible building-crap chips
The Best Things
LOCALS AND PUBS. VERY RELAXED ATMOSPHERE.
Everything!
Looe is a good base and if you're into battleships, you'll see plenty of them
on the horizon, with a good pair of binoculars.Dogs not allowed on the main
beach.
the beach
The tourist season, you have much less contact with the locals.
The summer when the locals are drowned out by the tourists, they can't arive fast enough.
Picture-postcard Cornish village with nice little winding streets and lots of good pubs and restaurants.
Walking along the Banjo pier on a windy, grey day and watching the clouds racing over Looe Island.
Summer with my mates - visiting our friends who live in Looe, doing plenty of laughing, drinking and living!
The atmosphere !
Solemates shoe shop - great value
Summer = Packed out & buzzing. Winter = Empty and all for the local's Best Of Both Worlds
The Worst Things
BLOODY SEAGULLS SHITTING ON ME.
Having to come home after the annual two week holiday.
Realising you are not a tourist and you get frustrated trying to get along the pavement only to be shoved on the road by the slow "real" tourists.
Dog mess on the second beach and lack of parking in the town. But then it's not
too much of a walk!.
the animals
The winters, when not even the tourists are there to act as a buffer between you and the locals.
The winters when there is no buffer zone between members of the human race who just happen to be unfortunate enough to be living there and the locals.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Looe.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Looe.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
