Clothes Shops, Shoe Shops, Fashion and Bargains
Loads of second hand and alternative places. The markets (Deptford especially) are ace for affordable pop star look
Deptford Market...Lots of new and second hand clothes at below high street prices, up to the minute fashion for all
A few doors from The Goldsmiths Tavern
(Where Christopher Marlow passed away)
is a really odd but intriguing clothes shop selling
a cross between theatrical costumes and fetish wear.
Never seen anything quite like it.
They are friendly
Now we're talking! There's Peacocks if you want to shop on the conservative side, btu if you want a real shopping spree the stalls and shops in the market are the place to go. OK so our whole community revolves around the market, what can I say, it's world famous...or so we think.
Arts, crafts and such (Anything from pukka art galleries to craft shops. Trendy and twee both welcome.)
hales gallery, deptford x festival turns the entire place into a gallery june-july with loadsa mini galleries, galleries all over creekside and seager buildings, plus tony's chip shop, 399 nu x rd has displays for sale. THERE ARE A HELL OF A LOT OF MURALS AND PAINTED UP PLACES...
there is an Art Gallery at the cafe on the High Street with lots of local talent
Neither. There's a children's play center in the park and they do crafts every now and again, but I don't think that counts.
Magazine and Comic Shops
nothing specific, usual newsagents, wish there was more sci fi round here..
You get yours mags and comics at the newsagents whether in the market, on Evelyn Street or in the Highstreet. There are more sweet shops and nesagents in this little place than anywhere else I've seen. Perhaps our other claim to fame.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
