Oh whats it called... near the town hall cant remember its name.
Theres dicksons i think its called, i'm not sure but you'll know it's a music shop when you see it! it's on george street near the train station next to the furniture shop!
use b Darwins on George st , dont know if still there now though . cath the owner use come on solan sunbeds.
Greg's guitar shop on Ormskirk Street opposite Crystals is the best place in town for any guitar gear. Dawsons gets a bad name but you can drop on a bargain in there occassionally.
Darwins should have a golden walkway to it with angels playing outside. i once askd him if he "had any £2 s***ty leads" n he said to himself "hmm...£2 s***ty leads?..yep, here you go" n lifted the lead i wanted out of a random drawer! thats what i call service. Boycott dawsons i say, as it is a ripoff beyond belief.
Fantastic new guitar shop - "The Axe Factor"
dawsons have like everything. but there's the axe factor and that just has guitars.
Dawsons, Pete Darwins
Dawsons is sound. That's where I bought my Harmonica (does that make me sound uncool? Read bass guitar instead)
break into a music school and steal a piano - that's standard procedure round st helens
Maggies Nest, North Road. Sadly.
Peter Darwins near the train station.
Magpies Nest, North Road.
Fair play there's a good music shop in town. But shame that the music scene is piss poor.

Dawsons are alright, but if you want more than a few picks or a strap, head into manchester for Academy of Sound and Johhny Roadhouse's.

Music 39 on Duke Street was a strange shop. They never seemed to have much.
Dawsons if your Old and have a lot of money to spend on an organ, but Pete Darwins for ANYTHING ELSE.
If your into Folky stuff, check out Cogglers in Thatto Heath.
Got to be Darwins in George St., Brilliant!
Dawsons music is the place to go to string your guitar! Don't take my word for it, go and try it and if you dont own a guitar borrow a friends , they will be so grateful!.
Dawson - I think it is still there
Pete Darwins - George Street Dawsons - Barrow Street I remember looking in this shop window on my way to Cowley school, drooling at the cool guitars in the window

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
