The Stuff We Can't Fit In Somewhere Else
CROWN POINT The cross roads to congestion.
The Train Station
Denton has a train station, which is possibly as run down as Denton!
It has an island platform [two lines either side of platform] accessed via a metal stair direct off the A57 Manchester road. The platform has vandalised lights, which have not worked for years, but are not required, as the trains don’t stop in the dark! In fact they don’t stop in the light apart from once on Friday, think about 3 PM. That does not return you to Denton later! No just one way! Well, perhaps the Passenger Transport Authority and the Franchised Rail Operator possibly thinks its better not to return! If the trains did run on a regular bases which was once the case, one would be able to travel to Guide Bridge or Stockport in the other direction, transferring onto trains direct to Manchester if need be! Thereby easing an increasing overburdened congested road system! Come on planners, stop making congestion on / of our road system like the recently remodelled f… up as at Crown Point and earn your money by possibly designing passenger bus / rail links.
DENTON MUST BE SHORT FOR DEAD TOWN
DENTON is a place people often drive through - whether on the M67 or the A57 - but if you bother to stop and look around, as I did today, you'll find a town with a lots of history, a great feeling of community and a growing sense of civic pride.
Located six miles (9.5 km) east of Manchester, Denton lies on the intersection of two historic highways: the A57 east west from Manchester to Hyde and the A6010 north south from Ashton to Stockport. The intersection of those two roads is Crown Point, named after a 1759 British victory in North America. From here, frequent buses go to and from Manchester and other destinations. There's no nearby rail link with Manchester.
