Record Shops
There's a HMV in WestOne now.
Music Zone in the Trafford Center
The Play Inn is no more. Best bet is to go to the Tafford centre or get the 67/M10 to Salford Precinct.
There used to be a decent little shop called the play-inn which sold some obscure and independant stuff. As that was shut down some years back (at the time of writing it is jan 2005) the only option now is the overly commercial HMV at west-one.
We want one, thank you.
Charity shops. Lots of old MFP albiums, your mum would like one for her birthday prezzy.
Theres a great second hand record stall in the indoor market
PLAY INN ( OH NO ITS SHUT DOWN)
"PLAY INN" been there for Donkey's years if they ahve not fgot what you want in stock then it can be ordered
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
Let's get down Bowlers and get some E's down us - yes I!!!!!!!!! Remember the good old days???
De La Salle have Jazz nights on a Thursday.
Eccles Folk travel to Manchester Centre or Wigan Usually.
Many people from Eccles travel to city centre and Wigan for the nightlife. Compulsion at bowlers (accross the water in trafford) was on till 2002, but got shut down because of drugs and violence and will probably be never on again.
smiths were we just have a mint rave
the best club was bowlers but it got shut down 4 blatent abuse of narcotics!!!
Clubs are no more but plenty of Pubs to spend your cash in
Live Music Venues
Town Hall occasionally do gigs. The world famous (but only in Eccles) White Horse pub have live music too now.
Some of the pubs have bands on, these are usually advertised in the windows of the premises.
Buskers nights are regularly held at some of the Pubs.
As above, could do with some because we have a lot of great people here who would live it large and enjoy themselves. But the local authorities will not grant a late night licence in Eccles ever again (probably) because of all the bloodshed!!! But we have great people who would love to party all night with no violence and enjoy themselves but for a few idiots who spoil it for the rest. Eccles was great in the 1970's and half way through the 80's then Salford moved in and killed us!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The buskers around The Mall and church street is the only live music you will find .
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide.
