Cringing Cult of Celebrity (Famous residents and ex-residents.)

• the guy from dads army used to go to chapel st primaery school, and later (watch this space) u will all go ooh,she lived in levenshulme, wow!
• The Gallagher brothers- Liam used to be part of a racist gang that terrorised the local Asian food take-aways in the area, this is a fact. Nice union jack on Noels' guitar eh......
• Not many people will admit to coming from leve, but that bird in Eastenders Judith shakoni was my sisters best friend, and lived down the rd in Gorton. They both, as did I went to the worst school in great Britain Spurley Hey, which was closed down and re-opened with a different name "cedar mount" It's like a punishment to send anyone there!
• Liam and Noel Gallagher used to live nearby in burnage.
• Levenshulme boasted one of the very first branches of 'Marks and Spencer'. Apart from that, nothing. Local hero is Lawrence Hennigan, an Irish Man of note who seems to want to buy the place. He owns almost all of it. I have to say, it's what Sir Humphrey Appleby would call a 'novel' decision. 'Courageous' possibly.
• Mark and Lard from Radio 1 used to rent in Levenshulme. Git out quick though!

Buskers, Street Entertainers

• No buskers. No beggars. Most beggars are too insensible to speak or even walk.

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
