Food
Stop Inn do a mean Lard and brown cabbage kebab
Pubs
The Pendle Witch is the best pub in Atherton. The beer is great, the crowd in friendly. They have the best juke box, and it's the only pub that doesn't have karaoke on all weekend.
The Glass Barrel is a pub and a music venue too ya know http://www.glassbarrel.co.uk tells you a "bit" about what's going on there
Is there still a pub called the Kings Head off the main drag. Does it do food at night and can my 12 year ild eat in there?
Blue Bell formerly the station remember most for its landlords. the current one is a soured face miserable bastard who serves shite beer.
Red Lion - kids city, and alway wear body armour.
Last Orders (Last resort) formerly the Kings head (Kings shed) - beers cheap.
The Pendle Witch - if your over 4ft you cant physically get in.
The pubs in atherton used to be chocker when the Relatively rough "venue" club was open formally known as Sidroys Restaurant, Anyway the red lion is ok, The last orders Inn (Foirmally Kings head) just down the road is full of cheap bear, Jolly nailor and Mountain Dew are 2 good pubs, a bit expensive though
I don't have a skull which can withstand paving slabs and iron bars, so I give most Atherton pubs a miss. Riley's is a good bet though.
Pendle Witch, Warburton Place - Moorhouses Pub with Guest Beers & occasional Beer Festivals
Atherton Arms, Tyldesley Road - Large and busy Joseph Holt's pub
Bay Horse, Bolton Old Road - Now serving Taylor Landlord
Rileys can be cool - esp when drunk. Does attract kiddies at school hols tho. Get pissed and take the mick out of their feeble attempts to understand pool.
The Atherton Arms - a top Holts pub with cheap and tasty ale. Try the award-winning mild.
All poo! Go to leigh!
mmmmm there seems to be a very mixed selection of pubs in atherton, i would say the most popular 2 to be the mountain dew, with karaoke at the w/ends and lots of friendly people.....makes it number 1 with the jolly nailor a close second(just opposite each other)
Red Lion is great if you need to get your head kicked in or pick up an STD.
Atherton Arms for the best and cheapest ale in town (Joseph Holts).
Red Lion is a great place for meeting hatchet faced council slappers
Cafes and Coffee Shops
