Record Shops
Looney Tunes was the place to spend your Record Tokens. No Woolies for us. Can you also remember "Sounds Good"?
You can go down the market for some quality CDs... or, if you actually want to listen to something decent, you can go to Somerfield and get ripped off. The choice is yours!
All the best music is comletely forced underground, and is written by the most talented artistic members of the youth subculture you will ever meet. Only problem is, their all stuck in this hole of a town, where the world just keeps on giving them a bad hand. Want a record? Find the parties!!!
the oxfam shop sells well good CDs
There's no decent record shop in Llandrindod Wells. The easiest place to get to to buy them (if you are poor and have no car like me) is to take the train to Shrewsbury and go to Virgin. There are some smaller, more specialised record shops in Shrewsbury but thy can put them on their OWN website :p
If you're REALLY desperate for something, Somerfield sells chart cds (ooh chart I hear yu say) and there'e a guy in the alley beside Somerfield who sells random LPs for lots of money. I think the Hampton pub has a record sale every now and again but I couldn't tell you about that as I have never been.
there aint any only the markets on fridays and there aint alot there!
try chrissie payne at 1 plasgwyn this little budding d.j will be able to sort you out with a bit of drum and bass
there arnt any left loony toons has now closed down
Hour drive away
None - Somerfield's ILLEGAL sale of CDs and videos has resulted in the shop becoming unprofitable. All the previous stuff is available via. mail
order,. See cColin in the Log Cabin, or e-mail Looney-Tunes@smcat.com.
Looney Tunes - Colin, who runs the shop can usually find ANY record within a day or two.
Clubs (Dance Music) and Music Bars
gone are the days of the pivi! got rumours now instead. hampton is still goin if u wana risk it!
Rumours nitespot, the new club in llandrindod. A good nite out had by all, also occassionlly have strippers (male & female).
Carlsboro Sound. Say no go. Say no more. C'est la vie.
Well, the Scampton has turned into Chav Heaven (or Hell, as the rest of us call it) so you're left with Rumours, which is £4 to get in but there's fewer chavs. I said fewer, mind, not none!
Go to Builth...Llandod is shit...y would u ever choose to go to the hamptons?
high school disco
the pivvi..........but are they still on?
No clubs, but stonkingingly good parties organised by local D.J.s and regularly attended by hundreds of people and a few police officers........
The PIVIY...If you like bad random mixing from the so called Dj (Who can only drink sprit due to their age)and the odd track from abba
The Pivvy
most fridays - Pivi (pavillion)
most saturdays - the Crapton (hampton)
if you like being surrounded by tinny-boppers then the pivvi is the place to be!! whoever the bar staff are renouned for their stupid ageing system, where they serve the young people but the legal ones!!!
The Hampton good place for a brall!!!
Whoever thinks the pivvy is a good night out obviously has never left llandod before!!!!!
Pivvi, well i've heard anyway
There is the pivi which, every month or so is really good. This is when you have Impact doing the music, otherwise it's shit! Don't bother going if Carlsboro Sound are doing the music cos they play really old stuff, which isn't exactly great to get down and boogie to!!!!
The only place that is close to a club is the privvy, Sorry Pivvy.
This is ok if you want to get smashed and then listen to Status Quo all night.
Youth Club meets daily monday to aturday at the Pavillion - Under 15s only.
THE PAVVI--A LOAD OF OLD SHITE
Live Music Venues
The Hampton Hotel have all the best bands, and live music on every weekend, and it's one of the best nights out.
the monty had a few good bands the other weekend.
The bandstand is used about once a year, as is The Drill Hall.
Again, builth, every other friday, jimmie willies!
bandstand
The bandstand. The piod. All those amazing parties that those wonderful bacon-smelling pork-munching doughnut devouring police officers try to interfere with! Don't even try, boys! Give us something to do, or some other building will end up burnt down by 14 yr olds with knives.
The Drill Hall or Old Scout Hall has some decent local bands every now and again. No bar, though, bring your own. If you're into punk check out The Vaults/Scumfactor in Brecon, tiny venue but can be good, no bar there either :( I don't know their website but I'm sure trusty Google can handle it.
errr, most of the good ones are all nighters up in the mountains or forestry on occasional weekends. They only go on all night 'cos it takes that long for everybody to find them.
Their was a gig in the band stand last summer by a local group, they were alright.
The Pivvy, The Log Cabbin and the Scampton (Hampton actualy but it is rather skancky!)
The Odd Crap Barn Dance
Theatre Powys - shit its burnt down!
Not the Ridgebourne, shite music unless your bladdered.
pavvi get there an party with all the towns under 16's
RIDGEBOURNE INN LIVE MUSIC AND DANCING WITH GORDON EVERY SATURDAY NIGHT
