Hook-up Spots (That hallowed spot where everyone hangs around with their mates dreaming of the time when they can get into the pubs or clubs - a bench, a corner: you name it.)
An old car park behind East Street
outside macdonalds by the map thing
Just the Common really! THe place to get together in the summer with a picnic and a few bottles of vino and even us girls get a go at footie!!
By the bargate entrance is a good place to hang out especially if your goth or skater.
sports centre
THE PARK IN SOUTHAMPTON I LOVE THE CURVED BENCH THING!!!!!!
NO SET SPOT, CHECK OUT THE HIGH SREET PEDESTRIAN AREA AS FAR DOWN AS THE BARGATE CENTER CAN USUALLY FINDSOMEONE ABOUT. AND THROUGH THE PARKS I THE SUMMER
MARBLE CAR PARK,POLISHED CONCRETE FLOOR IS WELL SMOOTH, IF ITS WET FIND THE BBC BEHIND MAYFLOWER THEATER AND CHECK OUT THE BASEMENT LEVEL IF U CAN GET IN. SHIRLEY WARREN SKATE PARK MADE BY GBH IS THE ONLY REAL PARK LEFT IN TOWMN BUT WATCH THE LOCALS, THIS HAS A NICE MINI,JUMP BOX,SPINE,DRIVE WAY,FLATBANK ECT WORTH CHECKING OUT.ANY OTHER SPOTS CALL INTO OFFBEAT SPORTS AND THEY WILL POINT U IN TH RIGHT DIRECTION.WEST QUAY CENTER IS A SKATE AND RUN SPOT NOT WORTH BOTHERING WITH BUT OUT SIDE WATROSE THERE IS A GOOD LONG SLOPE WHICH SAYS RELITIVELY DRY AND IS GOOD FOR A FAT FAST SKATE WITH NO BOTH FROM RENT A COPS OR POLICE.
The bargate centre, outside the milkshake bar
The common across the road from the Eagle pub watching all the girls walking by in bikinis in the summer.
mayflower park...mighty fine skaters...mmmm
all those punkass kids loiter outside the bargat now, or in the corner by the canteen at college
ther are about 5 parks wher people hang out the 1-looser park (behind primark)- not used so often now due to trouble with townies, 2- the quickburn park(behind previous park)where some ppl got to have a quick burn. 3-the CANER park(inclusive of caner benches) where everyone goes to have a session with there friends. 4-the pretty or cool park (with fountain and staues) further from the looser park, past the caner park this is the most common park to find ppl in. 5- the crap park maybe crap but... excellent to skate with very low benches.
Behind the train station, there r benches, walls 2 ollie off, a flatbank, big set of staires, waxed up 1 foot high ledges up the staires!!!
AVOID THE BARGATE LIKE THE PLAUGE IT IS FULL OF GOTHS AND NU-METAL FREAKS WHO QUITE FRANKLY SHOULD GET A LIFT
West park by that statue was always a good place for slack-arsed townies to hang aroung and attempt to intimidate everybody. Idiots.
The bargate shopping centre has all the decent skate type shops (just add water, Moist, the goth shop), exceptions being Legends and Off Beat Sportz.
There are just about always a bunch of gothic type girls and boys hanging around in their, not doing a lot.
Obviously HMV used to be the best hang out for any non townies, but now the wall has been brutally torn down, Tomba's in the Bargate is a temporary home for us punkers/skaters/goths
If you dont want to be inundated with strange glares from those evil 'townies' then steer VERY clear of the new shopping centre..."West Quay"...which actually isn't very good anyway.
Mayflower Park. Also where all the skatey dudes hang out.
Outside Mcdonalds on a Saturday afternoon, townies left, right & centre!
Sorry to have to tell you that the wall outside of H.M.V. is now a building site................
Ocean Village on a sunny day.
Mayflower Park for skaters and people who like ice cream.
Outside HMV - all day, everyday
Definitely the Common...anywhere along the main path really...especially at night in the summer
B&Q car park in Swaythling, Pedestrian Centre evenings.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Southampton.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Southampton.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
