Iceland's architectural triumph on Monaghan Street - who would have thought that one windowless barn of a building could've plunged an already bleak and rundown area into the pits of shithole hell?
Also the Town Hall, Toner's Building on the mall, and Sand's Mill and the Red Church behind the Courthouse (which is itself a piece of shit).
Hmmm...........................*is thinking*................nope, you got me, what is the best building in Newry??
The courthouse...it has to be a favourite for Newry residents because let's face it, anyone who decides to stay in Newry after 18 will end up there.

The market - with more foreigners and cheap imitation goods than you can shake a stick at, it is without doubt the most colourful part of an otherwise grey, caucasian town.
the magnet. god this site is obsessed with the place. readin this id think it was a big massive place, its upstairs above a restaurant on a pokey st! lol
Watching the cat fights at the weekends, who needs mud wrestling, anyway??
Newry has no good points, except that eventually anyone who goes out there learns the art of broken bottle fighting. Nice.

Some day someone is going to drown in the canal, with all the Dunnes trolleys, and god knows what else in there, if you somehow happen to end up in there, there REALLY isnt much chance of getting back out again!!
City status and gerdie the samarui wannabe
Transport? Architecture? Reliance on consumerism? Government indifference? Historical rape and pillage? Aesthetic ignorance of the local population?

Friar Tucks.
Those Our Lady;s skirts.
THE ACCENT.
i know it doesnt fit here but despite what people think the best place to go out is belfast especially if you are the holder of a student card, i have walked through loyalist and republican heartlands absolutely pie eyed and nothing has ever happened. I suppose it is down to mess with dodgy characters and they wont knife u they will just shoot u, people in belfast believe it or not...don't like confrontation
the smell of the canal, sugar island in the early hours of the morning (war zone) the accent sometimes does ur head in and more stuff i cant think of
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor
(the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.
If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.
Have Your Say...
The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.
You can tell us more about Newry.
This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here.
(But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)
You can use the add an event form
to tell us about events happening in Newry.
Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
