Skateboarding Spots

  • hoglands park, pretty good cuz all the kids are there, few older people though.
  • ASDA 4 sets, if ot too good just ollie one, but if amazing, ollie first, kickflip second, indy third and do some big trick on last one.
  • Bittern and Bittern leisure centre are quite good. When the centre's closed its quite possible to session the 5 set around the back, nice run up and landing. Across the road from that by the bus stop is a 5 set followed by a 6 set and if you go under the subway there is 4 (i think) 6 sets. or if your feeling suicidal try the massive brick flatbank.
  • appleton road, bitterne park, great to manual and grind, curbs are already waxed! its in bitterne park, off dimond road Woodmill skatepark, bitterne park, by woodmill bridge, its kewl, got a quater pipe, two verts, fun box, and somthing else, oh and a pergola
  • On a dodgy park near St Mary's and a grey office building that looks just like the one in the intro to the sitcom The Office. There is a boy who looks like a microphone that I constantly see - he must be the ringleader, you can see his afro for miles.
  • West quay ledge. set on a lower level to the highstreet. under the subay near waterstones westquay. The ledge is at the bottom of the castle walls hill. Normally waxxed up nice.
  • hoglands park bites but thornhill skate park has a lovely mini and a comp on once a year where the locals come out and shred. hedgends new mini is sick, suggest you check it out. loads of skateparks in southampton like marchwood (designed for bladers with a lush spine for all), shirly warren designed by a bmxer so everythings a bit screwy on the transition front, totton has a vert what more needs to be said, treck to bournemouth for slakes farm which has snake rub bowls and few rails, woodmill which has everything you need including a pink with yellow polkadotted grind box(hehe), hedend skatepark is really compact and more space could heve been used but theres a big fun box in the middle which helps for an enjoyable skate. Finnaly one lovely hot day we decided to hunt for something new and stumbled accross a new mini ramp in the nomansland area of the new forest, this is the nicest mini ive ever skated and i suggest all who class themselves as ramp skaters go check out this 5ft high beauty. well this is ricky of the woodmill locals. Peace!
  • Hoglands Park
  • o yea updating big time!common skatepark has been torn down due to the boat festival.new place called hoglands skatepark in hoglands park, southampton. a really good area to skate is in hedge-end.a bit of a cocky spot just recently found if you go over the bridge to west-end there will be a slope leading down into an industrial estate.nice concrete kicker and some good ollie manual blocks and if ur gud at sk8in u can try the gaps there.also next to focus there is another industrial estate with some outrageous slopes + more(only seen it not checked it out.)if you want anymore sk8 spots dat isent on here send me an e-mail to kizhak322@hotmail.com.i can pretty much do all of hedge end and botley!southampton a bit sketchy on the knowledge and bitterne the only place i know is woodmill(if thats in bitterne
  • 7 set with handrail between car park and some other building by asda's. Walk towards John Lewis car park thing & if you are REALLY GOOD and brave try the huge multi kink rail just over the itchen bridge leading into town (you wont do it) there are also loads of grindable planters and stair set being built by ocean village see the marketing suite.
  • When will the new one in Hoglands be open, it's a lot of hassle climbing over the hoardings to use it.
  • Townhill Park
  • the new west key shopping complex car park is cool at night, highly bustable, 10 minutes before the rent a cops get pissed off with you interrupting their donuts.nice ledges gaps steps rails and things to grind. watrose ramp is nice for down hill fast an gnarly stuff. the marble car park is wet day heave and a cure for winter wheaterbix season, shiney smooth floor, nice!!!
  • Next to the Asda there is a big building that always has lights on at christmas, and there are a few good steps there.
  • If you have been reading the part about skateing in southampton. Its old. Mayflower has been taken down by the council becase "Its a place for drugs" total bullshite. There was no reason for them taking it down. There is a new skatepark that opened in may 2001 shirley warren skatepark. It is quite good for its size with a mini, death, 3 quarters, flatbank, spine and a grind box. Letdown TOWNIE CENTRAL avoid all townies. One more thing i have some inside info that they are building a new skate park beside Debenams. thank fuck for that. This is by keiron robinson. peace out. if u dont belive its me im black short and skateboards with a mini afro
  • paddling pool, that park opposite offbeat, riverside park asda steps
  • Out the back of Marlands If you walk towards JJB etc. There are sets of steps all over the place.
  • there was a great spot which got flowerbedded due to unhappy office workers that was called principles. but now most ppl skate in the parks good for just learning your tricks its nice and smooth. the uni is good and so is ocean village. there is a new skateprk black sheet metal in shirley warren about 10-15 minutes skate from city centre which is pretty cool too(includes mini ramp flatbanks funbox)
  • The skatepark in southampton is no longe but a new 1 will be built soon + plans r in offbeat if u want 2 c them!!!
  • Look for yourself, there is alot of spots around, good carparks, blocks, steps. Unfortunately it is difficult to skate in town now because of the pigs.
  • Early in 1999, Bartley Park in Totton opened in style. eibe-play ramps include a vert-ramp, midi-ramp and a range of street course. This site used to be a sewerage(don't worry the smell has gone with the buildings). The ramps have a polyester surface, which is proving to be a long term quality ramp. See it for yourself and make your own opinion.
  • Try the Library steps, They are waxed ledges. Grovsner Square multistory car park, near to Bedford Place. If you want to speak to skaters go to Off Beat Sportz on Above Bar.
  • Check out the paddling pool near the Cowherds pub on The Avenue. Make sur that it is bone dry outside when you go though or you will be pissed off as it gets damn slippy. Bus's run from the bus station in town, only 60p
  • Southampton is the shittest place to skate ever.
  • Mini at Lords Hill extended in 91 with help from Off Beat. Now 20' wide by 5' high. Also mini-ramp at Northam Community Centre.
  • A new skate park is now open for the summer of 1997 in Mayflower Park next to the existing Roller hockey ring. The project, built by Freestyle for the Council, includes a funbox, driveway, quarter pipes and grind rails. The design was done in consultation with local young people and will be officially launched with a free event on Sunday the 27th July. The event is being funded by the Council with Offbeat Sportz and Addicts, two local skate equipment companyies. There will be Demos, music, prizes, sounds and open sessions. Skateboard Shops

  • legends, bargate.
  • Don't skate but quite like the clothes. Always had a loyalty to Lee (used to work in Ledgends, now Moist) for getting things in, in my size, two days before I left the country. And pointing me to reduced things he knew i'd want. Star customer service from that man. Aug 05
  • Route 1 is probably the best shop, the staff are cool and they got a huge tv and some couches (in the bargate centre)
  • route one just built in the bargate, HUGE!!!just add water, offbeat and quiksilver all do some gear in southampton
  • There's not really any specific skateboard shops in southampton but loadsa the shops sell something you just haveta look for it. If you wanna find skaters though you just have to look around because theyre everywhere you look. You can't escape them, I mean theyre becoming a pain to us goths because they're taking over our Bargate spot and they take the piss out of us but we don't mind because we love them.
  • that crap little one in shirley, by the bus stop opposite sainsburys
  • Off Beat Sportz in town
  • OFF BEAT SPORTS OR THERES A NEW SKATEBOARED SHOP IN FAREHAM
  • offbeatsports without a doubt. if they don't have it they can get it usually by the end of the week. just add water is okay if you have more money than sense. legends is cool for a cain store and all the staff are dope.
  • Just add water (very kool shop), offbeat(also kool), Mcqueen in the marlands.
  • OFF BEAT SPORTS, THE BOMB!! THERE IS A JUST ADDWATER STOE WHICH IF YOU WANT TO SPEND MORE MONEY THAN U HAVE SENCE. DO'NT LET THEM GRIP YOUR BOARD UNLESS U LIKE BUBBLE RAP. LEDGENDS IS COOL
  • blatantly off beat the best in southampton, followed by legends in the marlands crap stopres include JUST ADD WATER, THE QUICKSILVER SHOP
  • Just add water+offbeat @ above bar + Legends @ the Marlands
  • Offbeat Sports, near Goblets. Overpriced and very cooler than thou arrogant staff. Legends is a bit more commercial (upstairs in the Marlands) and clothes focused, but the staff are far friendlier
  • Offbeat Sportz is probably the best skateboard shop in southampton but you can get hold of good setup from alot of other stores.
  • The Bargate Centre has a variety of skate and snowboard outlets.
  • Legends in the Marlands shopping centre
  • Offbeat Sports has opened a shop in the city centre, just near the the Guildhall.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Southampton. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Southampton.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
