Food
Cafe Cleopatra, St Marys St. Warrens (they are all over the place)
the pizza place on Lemon Quay Truro Market place is really good cheap and yummy they have sandwiches as well
Burger King, Victoria Square, Rowes Pasty Shop, Victoria Square, Cleopatras takeaway, St Marys Street, Mannings Restaurant, Lower Lemon St, Cafe Citron, Lemon St.
The Mandarin Garden Chinese restaurant (above the shop opposite Burger King) is a hidden treasure - a completely unexpected interior and the best Chinese food I have tasted outside of London! Also, there is taucked around the back there somewhere (Near Fistral Surf Co?) an Italian restaurant that does amazing pizzas and pastas (what else?!) - I can well recommend that!
Truro Kebab House is next to L2, if you can make them understand what you want, you can get a nicer burger than in BK.
There's also a new Meadery opposite burger king, the food is nice and there's lots of it. However playing George Michael while you eat doesn't really say 'Medieval'.
pierros, mandarin garden, babas indian
Mandarin Garden is probably the best Chinese - not that there's a HUGE amount of competition - and Baba's is the best Indian: good service, good food, large portions.
Anywhere but Pierros where the waiters pretend to be Italian but are really from Bristol. (and they try to prove their football skills with a fucking balloon - which lets face it isnt very hard (wankers!)) The food of the gods is TESCOs stingers (Prawn obviously)
One stop take awy. May look dodgy but the burger are better than Burger King at 2am.
Jimbos takeaway, the best post-club keebab for miles.
Italian restaurant which is delicious, unrushed and good value for money called Pieros which is near the Burger King.
Pierro's for that Italian taste Mannings for somthing different (especially the cocktails!!!)
Littlewoods cafe
There are dead sexy pasties in Victoria Square (Rowes bakery).
Pubs
Try Dower, (Weatherspoons) Tabernacle St. Bunters Bar, Kenwyn St.
Bar 200, River St, William IV, Kenwyn St,
Kazbar - take the right road at the coinage hall. Well nice, but they don't let you stay if you don't look like you're drinking!
BAR 200!! Seriously underrated place that his comedy nights, pizza to order and is really chilled out. The music is great, with dj's at the weekend.
GLOBE IS THE BEST PUB EVER AND A MIXTURE OF AGES GO IN THERE
Bunters Bar is the only place to really get a look in - can get stupidly busy but usualy has enough people to make the place interesting. Plus you can bring your own food, nice. Cheapest drinks in Truro (except the Conservative club), big screen with lots of sport, pool tables, nice barmaids + 2 minutes from my door ! which I cant complain about. Plus since being bought by local club (L2) does offers of free entry/drinks etc.
The Daniel Arms is good if you don't want a crowd.
The Wig and Pen is good for a quiet pint and the City Inn' Directors is excellent.
The SWAN which will always attract young girls and old men but never fails to raise a smile, you won't find a more minging pint of Guiness anywhere in the world. The Globe rocks, Kovora used to but is apparently gay now. The Daniell(ila) Arms is a no go zone if you want to escape with your arse or if you aren't a skateboarder
the best two in town are the famous old golbe and the barley sheaf find em yourself
The Globe is good, as was the barley sheaf but bear in mind it is very close to the Eclipse...
A tie between Bunter and William IV Bunters does allow you to take your own food in though so i guess it has the edge
William IV in Kenwyn Street, or the Barley Sheaf or if you want the chance of a fight go to Bunters
The new land lord in the globe is trying to get rid of any one under the age of 40. I've noticed that the people get older every time I get back from uni.
The Heron Inn, Malpas (not strictly Truro but only about 1 1/2 miles away) is a very nice pub with seats outdoors, and many summer days may be passed happily gazing out over the river and the attractive countryside. If you're into that sort of thing.
'The Onion' as a good pub? Only if you have a beard. There is also the 'Ale House' which has a huge selection of real ales, and peanut shell on the floor.
The City (aka Tavern an Dre)
Old Ale House
The Globe
The Onion
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Zafiros, New Bridge St.
Cafe Cleopatra, St Marys St, coffee & takeaway food
Muffins, Quay St,
Is Café 3 Zero still there? If o, it is opposite the building in the middle of the road opposite Woolies. They do lovely coffee in there and some of the nicest pastries I have ever had.
new place called café citron along lemon street - not a huge menu yet as they were just trying a few meals at first to see which go well, quite trendy
0 seven is really nice - very young and colourful. Realy lush food for minimum price...is oposite bk entrance of woollies
The Lounge fpr sumwhere a little more upmarket - is behind the cathedral
fodders is good if u have money and are a vege
the lounge, number 10, quintessential, country cafe,
Clementines, near st mary's church, do THE nicest waffles and syrup.
nice, very yummy, trendy and quite inexpensive cafe which is opposite the back of the hall for cornwall, ish! it's decorated in blue and yellow, i think it's called sub-zero.
Bamboo, next to the Chocolate shop do the best hot chocolate mallows in the world tey end you to heaven.
