three letters - T.F.C.!!!
KFC, and Macdonalds are best really, But I think the stalls who sell hotdogs are da best and the Doughnut bloke is cool.
just the usual.(mc dos a shit)
The best restaurant in Taunton isFranco's the Itallian restaurant. The food is brilliant. You can also hear Franco swearing every two minutes and then him and his wife Sue having an argument because she is interfearing in the kitchen. Overall it's the best place to have a decent meal in Taunton at reasonable prices!
The Sanctuary - not sure if it's a wine bar or a restaurant .. but I like it! Cosy, friendly, relaxed .. great drinks & best food in Taunton. Website has menu - www.sanctuarywinebar.co.uk
"Door Steps" in Station Road, Taunton. Open Mornings and Lunch Times. Great food at very good prices. Try it, its great! Character Graphics in Station Road, Taunton. Use this eatery every day. Mark thinks it wonderful. Steve thinks it fab. John thinks he should go on a diet, but the food here is wonderful!
The Sanctuary Wine Bar & Restaurant - at last, somewhere in Taunton where you'll get treated like a human being, not a number on a corporate balance sheet! Great food, too.
Francos - their Fillet Steak Rusticano is the best thing in the universe
Tramonties is great for Italian, if you can cope with the other diners sucking up to the owner for some reason.
Dominoes!yum.
This place needs a reasonably priced pizza place in the centre of town, one where you can eat in.
kfc kicks ass go eat it and then if your still hungary after that then go next door to maccy d's and eat some more!!
The best restaurant by far in Taunton is Harpoon Louie's. Specialises in fish and seafood but does lovely steaks, and other stuff too. Really relaxed, but great food without the up-your-own-arse about it attitude.
You can eat anything from the middle ages
Perkin Warbeck, great food, or Tramonties for Itallian
Raw meat, grass and river water. Want more? Go elsewhere.
Bishop's Tower Restaurant,Tower Lane,is fantastic,friendly,and a warm welcome on a Winter's night
Maccie D's is decent take away or eat in and right now has a great offer especially for the January sales...
If your after Posh Nosh the Sanctuary is very good and cosy and generally lovely. Of course for the ultimate expense the Castle or now Braz its offshoot (Taunton is getting very trendy and high up in the world!).
The 99 will always be my favorite.
Tynte arms out at Enmore-magic for food and also devoted to real beers
If you like meat, there's a butchers in Bath Place selling only organic and some lesser known breeds of pork. A few doors up there's an excellent fish shop. The local Market Hall is good, on a Saturday morning, for locally produced fruit, veg, flowers and dairy produce - get there early.
There are two new cafes/brasseries in town... 'BRAZZ'opened this week, behind the Castle Hotel. A bar and restaurant, with good food cooked in Phil Vickery,s kitchen-good value. 'EXPRESSO' a good coffee bar (not linked to the chains)-the best coffee in town. Smoking and non smoking sections
Pubs
There used to be some good pubs, but they've shut them all down and opened things like Brazz and Remedies.
The friendliest and most interesting bar in Taunton is Harpoon Louies.
Perkin Warbeck, cheap beer and the biggest pub in Taunton
Lots of and yes, they do all think they are nightclubs. Sloanes is debatable as to whether it actually is or not, Apparently it is.... hmmmm.
Chips? With cheeese. Mmmmmmm. Grand food guys, shame you forgot to make it in the least bit digestable.
Perkin warbeck is the place to go
The Princess Royal,nice place,nice grub.
THe winch, Moathouse and White Hart are the most popular pubs in town.
Lots, ranging from quiet to heaving full of nutcases. Millers is definatley the best tucked behind Debenhams, quite a skaty surfy crowd (quite a few posh kids though)
The Hungry Horse on the Wellington New Road (used to be called The Stonegallows) has extremely good and reasonably priced food. Give it a try, great atmosphere.
Tudor Tavern is the oldest building in Taunton, and a favourite pub for students.
The new (Thatched pub> now open in Taunton...The Master Thatcher.... situated along Liseux way...nice themed pub.
JD Wetherspoons have just opened up in town, yet another drinking establishment for Taunton and I see that there are plans for two more soon!
The Eagle - small pub, doesn't attract many people, due to it being on a back-street, but it has a good pool-table and juke-box. You get a few students there, but mainly your older people.
The Alma - mainly a Richard Huish College student pub during the day, it has recently been refurnished, and now has a decent pool table, juke-box, and good food.
Henry's - great food. Intended for older people, but with three pool tables upstairs, you tend to get students there in large groups.
The Ferret and Trouserleg - near the Winch, is a good student pub, but you occasionally get your slimy old men trying to pick up young girls. Good for a laugh though.
Popular student type pubs can be found around the Castle area, with the Winchester Arms being a haunt for Friday afternoons. The Moathouse is usually a bit quieter... a bit! The Vivary Arms also does good food. For something a bit more rough and ready try the Westgate Arms. It's a cool pub for avoiding the crowds... and it's got a Billiards table.
There are lots of very good pubs in the surrounding countryside. Places such as North Curry, Kingston St Mary, Bishops Lydeard and Bradford on Tone all have good pubs. Bar meals in these village pubs are astounding.
An excellent pub for food and Ye Olde Pub feeling is The Old Inn at Bishops Hull.
Cafes and Coffee Shops
Roots-Bath Place, Fab Coffee
Caffe Nero
THE BEST COFFEE SHOP IS PAIN ET VAIN ON ST JAMES STREET!!!!!!
theres an amazing cafe/sanwich barr-y thing up st james street, pain et vin. cheap and its kindof like youre in some city somewhere, especially with the wicked ceiling.....well i think so neway...
Snackers in the high street, best cheesy chips!!
Caffe Nero makes superb espresso, nice place - very old with loads of beams and atmosphere. £1.45 for a double espresso and you leave the place walking on air...wheeee!
"THE OLIVE TREE" Down by the Bridge (Bridge Street) opposite Debenhams Great Coffee Brilliant Fresh Baguettes, Cheeses etc. Organic Food & Drinks -well worth a visit.
Biddy's family restaurant used to be the favoured location for skiving rugby of a Monday afternoon...

Starbucks is quality but really expensive, I'de rather a KFC anytime
rosemary j's used to do a good iced coffee, closed down recently. just the big capitalist star bucks + costa now
Cafe Liquid in Magdalene lane has to serve the best coffee. The service is pretty cool and you can smoke! finally decent coffee in a smoking environment.
The Perkin again 49p for a cup of tea, Bargain, much cheaper than the poncy coffee shops.
COSTA, STARBUCKS, Coffe and Cream down to the right of Body Shop is a gem of a place.
Gotta Starbucks and for a really good coffee find Magdalane lane and Liquis Espresso. Excellent Mocha served by Sue.
Tooo many, I used to like seatle coffee company in Waterstones (before Seatle went bust). Coffee and Cream are pretty good (if they're still going)
Starbucks
Too many
Coffee here tastes like mud. It looks like mud, and I'd bet my back teeth it is mud. Or shit.
I like Expresso at the end of the high street. Oh and what about that new starbucks thats rather nice. Check out Waterstones for a more interlectual coffee
expresso up high street is pretty good with pretty people to match.
COSTA!!! Need I say more.....?
as i said before, the studio cafe is FABULOUS!!! and so is the amazon, but if you're rich, the river cafe is almost as good.
