Stowmarket has a great plethora of celebrity residents on the waiting list to enter the 'get me out of here jungle' as we speak. All they are waiting for is for Gary Glitter to die and then they can all move up a space.
DELIA SMITH AND ARTHUR FOWLER.
The Vaults are from Stowmarket and surrounding villages. You sometimes find them in The Oak - look out for Beaz, he is most recognisable as he has excellent hair.

Radio 1 DJ John Peel lives here. Why I dont know! If I had his money I'd live somewhere else!
Oh my God. Have you not heard of the famous taxi lady from Gold star. Everywhere she goes the cry of 'Arn't you the lady from the taxi office' can be heard in dulcet and usually drunken tones. There is no escape for her from her celebrity status.
John Peel's lives round our way. I got off with his daughter's boyfriend, I did.
Jack Whomes is infamous rather than famous... sent down for his part in the 'landrover' shootings (the film Essex Boys was based on this)

Already mentioned - both of them - and neither actually live in Stowmarket. This makes them sensible.
Bungle, from 'Rainbow', runs (or used to run) a menswear shop near the station.
er....stowmarket and fame don't go together
Bill Treacher (better known as Arthur Fowler in Eastenders) lives somewhere around Stowmarket.

Buskers, Street Entertainers
Rick the Stick - He hasn't aged one bit from the first time I saw him.
What ever happened to mad mary?
What ever happened to mad eddie?
2005.... Apart from a large group of mid twenties blokes who think they are the dogs nuts and have the same number of brain cells there aren't any in this sleepy back water.
Glen. The Peter Pan of hedonism Always in the Oak... ravaged by a rock and roll lifestyle, he has no sense of shame and is notorious for his lubrictaed capers. If you're a girl and you go to the pub regularly, he will have told you that you're the sexiest woman he's ever seen. What makes him special is that he is a more permanent feature than any of the other piss artists who tend to come and then go... whether they leave or just grow up.
The ducks who hang out between the big supermarket and the Museum of East Anglian life are pretty entertaining.
the hunchback who walks round, and the old lady who walks down the middle of the road.
lets just say nathen not sure of the surname as he 4got to mention but i wudnt advise any girls to even go there unless u fancy catchin somit
the large ginger man is cool, he is 100% harmless i sing with him on karaoke, my sister went to school with him. he lost both his parents within a year of each other and has a stepdad in a million. Robbyrob u r the best. not as large as u was! i wish i have yous willpower and strength. *H*

PINK SANTA
50 CREW vroom vroom
There is a cool 'Big Issue' man that stands outside the QD store reguarly who will happily have a chat with anyone!
that old manky guy, apparently he has a degree or summit but got smashed on drugs and jumped off a roof? Rich Mac
Stowmarket lacks in daytime street entertainment, although the woman who walks down the main street talking to herself is a good watch. 8 out of 10 on the comedy scale. At night time though the high street becomes alive with fresh faced townies to put on the evening motor show. the show ranges from; The just passed crew in their parents town run-a-round, to the highly decoratated fully trained G-boyz. Shows start from 7 till late, entrance is freeand throwing eggs can be purchased at Dillons.
well we dont have many street entertainers which sucks but chic fights outside jokers on a saturday night is always a cult classic.
The fat bloke with a bad attitude is hardly what you'd call entertaining, surely? On the other hand Stowmarket has a HUGE number of unintentionally entertaining residents, mumblers, stumblers, accidental transvestites & so forth...
Some guy sells the big issue outside bakers oven. Good ol boy.
A certain (wannabe hardman) who thinks kangol caps and spliffy clothing are still in fashion, brings a chuckle and smile to many. If you can help it dont talk to him, you'll just wet yourself with laughter.
The meadow centre in Asda has been known to emit the odd bearable sound (other than those strangs noises coming from the car park of a night time)Try Thursday and Monday afternoons for buskers but most of them have a tape player hidden somewhere just for accompaniment. But dont forget to give donations to the Big Issue bloke outside Boots on Market day.He desrves something for braving the weather conditions every week.
erm i think the only "street entertainers" we get are the little old ladies that stand out on the streets with clipboards doing research!
buskers...as if they come to stowmarket....we only get a sorry looking "big issue" bloke on thursdays and saturdays.
Who needs entertainers with all these barking inbreds?
Lot of sttreet entertainers about at kicking out time.JAM
What is the name of that old geezer with the stick who plays the guitar badly and sings even worse?
The Big Fat Man is not entertaining in he slightest - more likely a rapist or human blimp; certainly not entertaining.
Dodgy danceing bloke in the joke, i spent my teenage years copying his wicked movesCLOZ
Street entertainers? I find that Big Fat Man who hangs around with the little kids outside woolies pretty entertaining. T.
Oh definitly Rick the Stick, how I smile when I picture that poor befallen wonky old man. Probably Stowmarkets most heart warming feature.
The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!
In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!
