Skateboarding Spots

  • Skatepark I suppose.. never had the balance or co-ordination myself, and theres an over zealous traffic warden/community support officer who stops anything potentially fun like that..
  • The Skate Park on the rec or any pavement road carpark etc u can use
  • Stowmarket has a skate park and skate boarding and bmxing i feel is a constructive us of peoples time, saying that the skateboarders and bmxers who the park was intended for feel that they cannot go there for fear of being beaten up by the druggy alcoholic wasters. Also after many attempts to create a decent skate park and many meetings with the local council look what stowmarket has got! The results are pityful a dangerous slippy metal surfaced skate park which doesn't have any lighting for nyt time use, the space is misused by the useless positioning of the sub standard equipment that has been provided! Take a look at ipswich skatepark and u will it is succesful, and well used, look at stowmarket, most of the skaters and bmxers have quit now and become the de-generate time wasters that around stowmarkets oh so notorious sad circle(brick thing outside dewhurst)! "Well done stowmarket town council for listening to the bmxers and skaters!" oh u didn't did you...
  • none.but theres hoax in ipwich
  • After the new swimming pool was built, I believe all the skateboarders used the old outdoor pool. A wonderful pool when it was used as a pool. Never saw many skaters as I had left by the time of the second skate coming...
  • my 14yr old son informs me that there is a homemade park down muntons, but not for public use! if u know peter you should know where it is. Also i might add that it is a far safer place to skate as there are no drunken yobs smashing bottles or robbbing the kids of their mobiles. from Hazy
  • Now at the Rec, how poor !
  • There'e one on the rec, recently graced by the trolly patrol for some trolly action. nice! Rich Mac
  • Think there is a skate board park nr asda
  • Oh didnt relize this bit was on here, there is a skateboard park up the rec, ne one who is reading this will know where it is.
  • The play area of the rec has recently had a Skate Park/Area built. Only thanks to the youths by ripping the old swings to pieces. It contains various half pipes, all looking to be sturdy, so not at as much risk from the stowmarket vandel crew as the poor swings and kiddie bouncy things! So far has attrcted not only one group of people and seems to be well liked.
  • I know that they have recently but a skateboard ramp on the rec, but I haven't tried it out or seen it yet.
  • Don't forget to mention the brand new skate park. I feel sorry for the ardent youths who campaigned to get it & now can't get near it for ten year olds running up & down it & using it as a venue for after school fights. Won't be long before one of em cracks 'is 'ead open on it & the place is closed & fenced off...
  • Theres a skate park now open, but all I ever see on it are people from the local middle school sliding, without skate boards.
  • There is now a (so-called) SkatePark, Well its actually an extension to the slides and climbing frames disgisted as a SkatePark.
  • Go to the recreation ground. It should be finished eventually unless the council run oput of money and use the funds for the skate park for something els. Not that anything like that has happened before of course.(we won't mentiopn the relief road).
  • erm anywhere-i wouldnt kno i dont skate! but i have been told the slanty curbs would b good for grinding!
  • Anyone remember Nicks ramp??
  • The rails next to the church. In a square, I find that its super sweet
  • RAILWAY LINE IS ALWAYS FUN
  • combs ford primary school...good banks.
  • i really wouldn't bet on it
  • Excellent banks in a primary school, also good double-sided bench and super smooth playground. Banks rule: one set is rounded like a big 'U' and get higher as you go round, other set are steep and get lower.

Skateboard Shops

  • Simpsons or Argos
  • bury st edmunds hardcore hobbies is the best
  • Ipswich! (at least there are shops other then charity shops there!)
  • hoax
  • Cant think of any thank god
  • Bartons Bikes? do they do skateboards yet? if not, they will soon. Rich Mac
  • Try simpsons for skateboards which have 'Teenage Mutant Hero Turtles' on them.
  • Simpsons sell the ones which five year olds use to graze their knees.

What is Knowhere?

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.

We make no claims as to the accuracy of the information in the Guide - our only purpose is to provide a forum for users to share their knowledge and opinions. So please keep a large bag of salt handy and be prepared to read between the lines!

If you disagree with a comment, or information is out of date, please submit an update! The contributors come from all walks of life, and their opinions are bound to be subjective, so if your view isn't represented, please speak up and contribute to the balance of the Guide. See below in the 'Have Your Say' section for how to add your voice.

If we have helped you out or made you laugh you can buy us a pint.

Have Your Say...

The Knowhere Guide depends entirely on real users for information. Please feel free to join in.

You can tell us more about Stowmarket. This is also the method to use if you want to correct some of the information already here. (But please remember you're not mailing the person who actually wrote whatever-it-is.)

You can use the add an event form to tell us about events happening in Stowmarket.

Or, if you'd just like to leave a message for other users of this site, take a look at The Knowhere Board (handy if you're just trying to get in touch with someone).
