• In the 1980's BMX craze there were 2 bike shops - one on Stowupland Street and one on Bury Street, both are closed now. They sold BMX's and parts but were not specialists. BMX was everywhere so it wasn't difficult to see them but to practice in a park you had to go to Bury Sports Centre - they had half pipes and the like.

• Browns is a good bike shop. Lots of low milage, early models.
• I know that there is a bike shop somewhere but I'm not sure where?
• One thing I'll say for Stow shops, the Bike shop is great - the guy who owns it is knowledgeable & helpful & the range of products is good for Stow.

• Bartons Bicycles rules! The unpaid customer credit pad is huge!
• Person powered bury street or milton road. If your a lady try the one in Milton road cos the bloke in there is not too harsh on the eye. Some things a bit pricy though. You may get better prices in Ipswich or Argos.
• there was a person-powered bike shop down bury street BUT that has now closed down!

• Two, both pedal powered.Both sell a good range of bikes at various prices and types.
• BARTONS BIKES vs BETTABIKE. Bartons bikes run by the father of a local thug. Bettabike run by a couple of toss pots. You take your pick then go to Halfords is the Switch (Ip!)
• Bartons bikes, good reliable friendly service (person)
• Technics is the best bike place in Stowmarket. It is on the Tomo industrial estate ( oh it is motor ). The service is excellent but if you want sdomething sorted today don't bother as the waiting list is always long. They are also Peuguot deals. ( I don't know why they sell those mopeds but I guess it is a money spinner and they are only a small garage).
• What's the point of buying a bike? It will only get knicked.

BMX Trails, Street Spots

• build your own, we did then they got bulldosed! best get some friends from ipswich or bury and ride there jumps
• take care on the roads cos the kids in stow are using Boulters bridge to grind on, the new rails on the steps into asda or the metal benches in town, in fact they don~t care for pededstrians or motorists.
• my 14 year old son tells me that there is a BMX park down combs but its on private land. if you know Peter then you should know where it is. Peter has permission to use the land, and he built the park because he is sick of mindless yobs smashing bottles and not using the public park for what its meant for. Good luck peter with your bmx'ing i have been told that you and tony are the best. By the way hello Tony bogey.

The Knowhere Guide started out as a list of places to skateboard in the UK. It is a compilation of (unedited) information and views supplied by users like yourself. It is not a conventional tourist guide!

In most cases, the information in each section has been submitted by more than one contributor (the credits at the bottom of the page list some, but not all, of the contributors) and some of it dates back to the 1970s.
